QuoteI think people really need to be aware that when in the US when a cop says, "stay down, keep your hands visable, stand still"

So deaf people and those that don't speak English get killed lawfully and it's no-one fault but their own?

Are you trying to imply that, thats what I'm saying

excerpt from the Times today.

QuoteAJ ran down the hill. The police were at the bottom of the hill already and apparently AJ tripped when he got to the bottom of the hill and the police officer said 'stay down, stay down'.

"That's from an eyewitness on the scene. And AJ started to stand up and that's when the police officer shot him numerous times."

Shot 7 times!!!

I think people really need to be aware that when in the US when a cop says, "stay down, keep your hands visable, stand still"  you f**king do it. What happened there was completely wrong and I don't want to sound like I'm justifying it, its just the way it is.

Jays, the "hats, scarves and headbands" folk would make a fortune on the 12th.

"get your Irish flags, 2 for a fiver", "Local GAA flags, buy 5, get a free lighter!"

QuoteAn Irish man has been shot dead by a police officer in the US state of Oregon.

Andrew Hanlon (20), who is believed to be from Dundrum in Dublin, was shot by a police officer responding to a call about a burglary in the small town of Silverton on Monday night. He died at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing five or six shots.

Deputy District Attorney Doug Hanson declined to say whether Mr Hanlon was armed or give further details of the incident, citing a pending investigation. The officer involved, who has only been on the force since 2006,  has since been placed on paid administrative leave.

Mr Hanlon had been visiting his sister Melanie Heise in the town, which has a population of around 7,000. He arrived in the US last summer and staying on illegally after his visa expired.

Ms Heise said this morning her brother was suffering from bouts of paranoia and delusion in recent months. She said arrangements were being made to send him home to Dublin to receive treatment.

"A bunch of different people saw him just before it happened and he seemed fine," she told RTÉ's Morning Ireland.

However, she doubted he would have been carrying a gun at the time he was shot. "He's not that kind of kid," she said. She also questioned why a Tazer wasn't used to subdue Mr Hanlon.

Around 100 people held a protest in Silverton yesterday over the shooting. "There's an awful lot of anger," Ms Heise said. "They want to know why there was such excessive force used."

By the way, the Hurling cubed will be on in Limerick that weekend! Should we enter a Meath team??  ;D  We might not have the skill but we'll make up for it in other ways!!

I'll be flying in from across the water to Shannon. Flight only cost £12. I'll be staying with relations. Clohesseys is the place to be it seems. The Texas steak house on O'Connell Street is  a great place for a foodin' an' a feudin'.

If we have a full complement of players and really hit the ground running we can win this one. A performance to exorcise the demons of DrCullen Park is whats needed. But Limerick will be tough. Especially at home. I would be very wary of this one. Will be my 1st time in the Gaelic grounds, will be nice to see it, would be great if it brought in a good crowd.

Looks like the Leinster hurling final wont be in Croke Park now. I guess the Wexford fans are putting all their chips on the football team. Pity but can we expect anything other than an anihilation of Wexford by the Cats?

TV3 has Dessie Dolan " in the pocket" ( rugby ?) at one stage yesterday.

its American football actually. When the QB stays behind the blocking linemen which makes a pocket of protection from would be tacklers around him. How this applies to a gaelic match baffles me.

After watching over the weeknd, I believe TV3 do a better job than RTE. Better presenters,  analysists and no Spillanes. Didnt see the Sunday game though, not on "The Island"

This Westmeath team are very strong especially in the backs and if they keep their heads up, can go a long way in the qualifiers,

its disgusting. There should of course be plenty of provision for disposing glass bottles, ie huge recyling bins, and what ever other rubbish there is. But of course asking people to have a bit of decency and respect is not allowed these days. it seems the new way of thinking is, when in large crowds responsibility and behavior doesnt matter.
