McGuinness was one of the star players in Ulster that season in '98, definitely the standout on the Donegal team. After Brolly's late goal to win the final, he was heading to the states for the summer, and it was on the way to the airport that the crash that claimed his second brother happened in Fermanagh (near Lisnaskea, if I remember correctly). Took him a few years, understandably, to get back to anything approaching his best.
