MR2, I think you wrong on that. A few years prior to Klopp, Brendan Rodgers came very close to title. The yanks where in place and actively planning new stadium or expansion, new training ground was in place and football structure was in place. They'd been moving in the right way and recruitment was good.

The wage structure was managed. Sterling was one player who looked big money to stay, even if he wanted to really and knew it wasn't going to happen. But the lines where drawn and not broken.

Edwards and his team in place. All of this appealed to Klopp. He had power to leave players out as he say fit - Shakho been one. The structure supported this. Their academy was already showing positive signs. They even survived a high change of staff where Gerard left and took 6/7 with him to Rangers.

United seem to have stalled totally on all these fronts and threw good money after bad to fix and plug holes.

Klopp takes lot of credit but shouldn't overlook what he walked into. It was a good fit. If it's to be believed he turned down United before this happened. You don't need to know why. United couldn't offer him a fit that he wanted to work in.

These are the issues that Neville is making post match. They've fallen behind so far off the pitch and a lot been left to rot for years. A few big signings and high wages keep the commercial profit strong.

How long will it the real changes to happen? It's more than a new manager. It's a big part too.

And hoping that other clubs fall as per The Wobbler post. There is little to suggest that other clubs mentioned are going backwards when they spend well and wisely. Liverpoool buying players for the future now, Chelsea with dozens out on loan and City with their funds. No sudden fall from Grace there.

Very few of the biggest clubs aren't commercial clubs if we're honest.

It could blow up in his face - as United fans we can only hope that he's got certain guarantees from the club to take the job

The missing link(s) were VVD and Allison as they had glaring weaknesses in both areas in the Rodgers era which with quite hefty transfer fees for both solved the missing link for Liverpool.

Whether those funds were available to Rodgers is another thing, but he did a lot of good at Liverpool.

Man U are more interested in who can sell jerseys in new markets with brand ambassadors and the likes.

This will be manager no. 6 since Fergie retired and he and the Glazers have been the constant since. The Glazers are going nowhere. The club need to 'let' Fergie slip into the background completely. It's a constant overarching albatross on every manager and the ex players feed that.

As for the playing staff, too many are on big fat wages and long contracts. They are fat and bloated, like an old Roman Gladiator. The club pay good wages but have bought the wrong players. Realistically De Gea, Rashford if he regains his form, Sancho as he's young and coachable, Fernandes, and maybe 1-2 more are at the required level. You are talking 8-9 players needed, in an ever increasingly competitive market. They are behind LFC, City, Chelsea and if they don't qualify for CL, then possibly Spurs or Arsenal as an attractive proposition. Newcastle will flash their knickers. That's 5-6 teams they are competing against on the PL alone for the top players.  This doesn't count the likes of PSG, the Spanish teams, and Bayern. They will pay over the odds for average players a la Maguire and then this will be used as a stick to beat the average player when their form goes to shit. Seriously when was the last time they bought the best player for a position in the world or even a potential best?  If you say Ronaldo then you are deluded. Yet they've spent net over £600m in 5 years. It's wrong and broken and Ten Hag had a huge job to do. A 3 year contract is hardly a vote of confidence!

Past players or managers are at these games or on the board of teams, that's been that way.. in fact in October 2013, Dalglish returned to Liverpool as a non-executive director, so its ok for some but not others?

Ex players talking shit is the norm unfortunately and can't be hidden or turned off.. Some valid points by ex players but I feel it feeds into more negativity at the club to be fair.

Utd have a team their, they just need to be coached to play football better, if they can generate confidence this will generate better performances, they'll be 'fitter' and might fight a lot harder. I'll take a team performance over a special one off performance any day of the week

The club is ran by carousel of clowns that will make it extremely difficult for any new manager to succeed but i think this was the expected contract and giving a longer term is not worth the paper it's written on (Moyes got five years)

Fergie is hanging around the club and while ex players like Neville and Ferdinand talking nonsense is totally irrelevant. United are where there are because they are one of the worst run "big" clubs in world.  Klopp did his rebuilding of Liverpool into what we see today with shrewd football brains in regards to recruitment and transfers in and out.

Man City have their sugar daddy owners but money will only get you so far,  like Liverpool they got competent people involved behind the scenes to allow Pep to succeed.

He's a human being like everyone else who works in a high pressure environment and is being made the public scapegoat for the utter incompetence of those running Manchester United. It was utterly predictable that some halfwits would take things too far into the realm of criminal threats.

Players make mistakes every week! You can highlight any player and make a laughing stock of them.

He holds his own at international level, I suppose their system suits him, they are better than most other nations and there is a feel good factor with the England National team at the moment.
