Best known for  playing George Roper in George and Mildred, and  one of the aul fellas in Last of  the Summer Wine

Only the aul fellas here will remember both shows. I hated Last of the Summer Wine. Sunday evening fare. Just on before you realised you had school the following morning.

George and Mildred was good old fashion sitcom stuff, Last of the Summer wine I could take it or leave it, not a patch on other UK ones, but now that I'm getting to that age I will probably understand it better

Aye that's it, you have to be in the target audience, point of LOTSW was to rage against the dying of the light, The Bourne Identity for pensioners (who would go to bed before antiques roadshow came on).

Saddened to see this.  In 88 my home club won the Connacht club title, and a big factor in that was that he was suspended for the final.  He worked for many years in Roscommon,  and was very well got.  Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends,  the report above confirms what a great man he was.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
