GAA Discussion / GAA to split season in 2022
November 05, 2020, 12:57:36 PM
The GAA have announced that they want a split club and county season from 2022 with the All Ireland finals in July. Long overdue in my opinion.

GAA Discussion / Sligo V Down, Sun 3 Feb, NFL Div 3
February 02, 2019, 04:21:14 PM
A poor Down team come to Sligo, a must win for Sligo here. If we loose here we could very well find ourselves in Div 4. Sligo by 3
GAA Discussion / Sigerson 2019
November 28, 2018, 01:25:52 PM
Anyone know when the Sigerson draw is for 2019? It's all very quiet.

Haven't heard many Ryan Cup results this year. There's a notable drop in HE media interest and profile which is likely to continue into Sigerson.
Also strong word coming out that Sigerson/Fitz cups will move to December next year. The end is nigh?

GAA Discussion / Live stream Sky Sports

Trying to live stream Sky Sports for tonights games. Anyone advise how to do it??
GAA Discussion / Sigerson Cup 2018
December 11, 2017, 10:57:14 PM
Sigerson draw has come and gone and hardly arouses any interest anymore. It's a real shame how much this competition is dying a death.

Sigerson Cup Draw 2018
Prem Round
1. AIT v Garda College
2. Trinity v DKIT

Round 1
UCC v Prem 1
NUIG v ITSligo
Queens v ITT
DIT v ITCarlow
St Mary's v UU
Maynoth v UCD
Prem2 v DCU
This is an intriguing battle. Meath will be favs for no other reason that they are Meath but I think they may get a surprise here. Sligo struggled over Antrim (7 subs and all!) but will be in better shape next time out IMO. I'm not happy with our Manager in Sligo and feel he's a bluffer of the highest order but he is a Kildare man and that will be no harm when it comes to preparing for our trip to Navan. Sligo by 2
General discussion / Changing Euros into Sterling
May 31, 2017, 09:44:48 AM
Anyone know where to get the best rate when changing a large (8,500) amount of euros into Sterling? Sold my car in Sligo for euro but am going to England to buy a new one in auction so keen to get best exchange rate before I go.

Any help or advice appreciated.
GAA Discussion / Sigerson 2017
December 03, 2016, 02:16:44 AM
Just kicking off the 2017 competition.
Draw due to be made this week. Jordanstown are Ryan Cup champions so will begin as favs. They have an embarrassment of riches as usual as do DCU.

Looking forward to the draw.
GAA Discussion / CPA (Club Players Association)
October 18, 2016, 12:02:38 AM
There has been moves over the weekend to set up a CPA body who will represent the club player. It will not be a GPA type body ie Money and fundraising. Instead it will have one sole focus. Speaking on behalf of club players and getting the national fixtures shambles addressed once and for all.
GAA Discussion / Sligo V Clare (16th July 2016)
July 12, 2016, 12:00:51 AM
Sligo were 2/1 this morning (Clare 1/2). Sligo now 6/4. A few quid going on.
Hard one to call with both teams expecting a win
GAA Discussion / GAA betting
May 28, 2016, 07:49:51 AM
A long overdue page to discuss the weekends odds, spreads, accumulators and runners/riders, GAA style.
There's many experts on here - time to put your money where your mouth is!
GAA Discussion / GPA proposals
April 23, 2015, 12:01:15 PM
The GPA have listened to college/county players and have realised the farce that is the GAA season with overlapping competitions and various teams demanding differing levels of commitment. I'm not a GPA fan however I feel they have contributed something significant to the player welfare debate here.

The proposals are interesting and have value but for me do not go far enough. (Moving U.21 to U.20 is simply re-arranging the deck chairs on the titanic). What is needed is a reduction of grades for the 18-21 age group so the only runner for me is to scrap U.21 and minor and replace with U.19 - moving it away from the leaving cert and away from senior football.
General discussion / Red/Green Deisel
April 10, 2015, 08:56:11 PM
I drive for a living and cross over and back the border every week. I filled with green on occasion and have recently filled with red. I'm always worried about getting caught - what are the chances? Anyone know the score on this? I assume customs will end up with my reg? Are they likely to come knocking on my door?
GAA Discussion / Manager "Expenses"
December 16, 2014, 10:11:47 PM
I have only ever coached at underage and college level and have never taken a penny anywhere but have I been elected onto our club committee this year and my first role is to get a senior manage for the club side and we have agreed a small-ish budget for same.

Can I please ask you all for an idea what clubs and counties are offering coaches and managers out there with regard to expenses. I have heard of everything from a euro a mile to €200 a session, but to be honest I haven't a clue what is reasonable and what is excessive. Can you all let me know what your clubs offer if you are privy to such info?
GAA Discussion / New Sligo manager Niall Carew
October 20, 2014, 09:58:07 PM
Niall Carew is new Sligo manager.
Interesting character here lads. Was with McGeeney in Kildare and became well known for his antics in the papers. Then went to Waterford and made no impact. During the summer he was in the papers again for winning 250k on a massive accumulator bet! Now he's heading up to us for a shot at Sligo.
I'm not sure what to make of this appointment. Any thoughts out there?
GAA Discussion / Jimmy McGuinness mind games
August 19, 2014, 01:16:17 PM
It would appear that the annual mind games of Jimmy McGuinness have been set free once again. Jimmy is now saying that Dublin have an unfair advantage over other teams. This coming from the man who takes his team away to a 5 star hotel every second weekend and goes to Portugal to train. Jimmys mind games are getting a little tired.
My in laws are from Antrim and my parents are from Fermanagh. I felt obliged to start this thread.

I'll be at the game Sunday. Expecting an easy Fermanagh win?
I spoke to a Donegal supporter today in Croker who was telling me about the absolute farce that took place in Donegal last weekend regarding club fixtures. Jimmy McGuinness rang the county board from Portugal to call off the club fixtures as his players might be tired. The county board duly oblige, leaving the club players fuming. This just isn't on.
Where is the GAA and GPA on this? County managers are now running county boards.
