Quote from: gallsman on May 10, 2024, 10:23:46 AMAny recommendations for family things for ten days or a fortnight in Donegal in early August for a family with a near 4 year old and a6 month old baby?

Some ideas here - it's a little old but useful enough.

One thing I learned when our kids were that young was to not make the holiday about them. At 6 months and 4 years, they are going to be happy wherever you are as long as you can give them your time. So do things that the adults will enjoy and just let the kids be happy in your company.

Good on them. That's quite different from the club doing it though.

Quote from: square_ball on May 10, 2024, 01:31:48 PMWe've been looking up holidays for next May for a family of 5 in the usual places - Majorca, Salou, Albufeira and they're not coming in with much change from £4k and a lot of those are just half board. Pre Covid for a family of 4 we got an inclusive for under £2k in Lanzorote similar time of year.

11 nights in camping Sanguli, sleeps 6, 1400.

City wouldn't have the fanbase UTD have so could give as many tickets away as thry like. Season ticket holders should get 1st preference.
A story you don't see published is the United team paid for all the tickets for the ladies teams families to go to Wembley this Sunday, that is 30 tickets a player. Yes its a drop in thr ocean for multi millionairres but they didn't have to do it.

I wouldn't be too deflated by that result as Offaly or kilkenny will not only win Leinster, but probably get to an all ireland final. Laois are on a par with wexford and Dublin and that is a major improvement on previous years. A bigger concern is young Cuddy getting sent off, it shouldn't effect the seniors too much, but we are not blessed with 15 or 20 top quality underage hurlers annually, unlike kilkenny, Galway, Tipperary and recently Limerick. The likes of Cuddy, Quintana, Keynes, don't come around regularly. Mark kavanagh is a prime example of a brilliant intelligent hurler that was so prone to injury that he never reached the heights that neither he nor Laois had the privilege to witness.

On the other end of the scale ( NO names mentioned) we have produced more than a couple of hurlers, who for reasons only known to them, have ignored the honour of representing their County in order to give all to their Club. I am in no position to judge anyone as I myself have made multiple mistakes in my life, but when you see Counties like Down, Carlow and Kildare who are of a lesser standard to Laois, giving everything for their Counties, it beggars belief. Down have three hurlers who are from protestant backgrounds and play, inspire of their general communities feeling's regarding the game, gives me a greater understanding about why we will never become strong enough to at least challenge the so called bigger Counties
