134 football all irelands played

11 won by Northern Ireland teams

134 hurling all irelands played

0 won by Northern Ireland teams

Would playing provincial finals in Northern Ireland improve them?

Do they have a stadium that they could play them in?

You're not wrong but Laois hurlers are hardly any better than a few Northern hurling teams.

What's the excuse for Laois hurlers?
Laois hurlers are consistently a top 10 team. They would probably beat 6 of the 9 Ulster counties by a cricket score. Derry and Down would be kinda competitive with them and Antrim would be always a close game.
I'd actually argue there's more apathy to hurling in Ulster than there is is to gaelic football in the other three provinces.
Of course, the whole thread is a bullshit attempt at a wind up. Must try harder.

'Too many of them in the stand'

Who was sitting in the stand that should have been playing?
It's probably not fair to name lads but the dogs in the street know that a huge number of players turned down the offer to join the senior panel this year.
I certainly saw a few of them attending games this year. But each lad may well have had his own reasons.
Let's hope we see a few more of them back in the squad next year.

He won't be easily replaced. Brilliant attitude every time he played for Laois.

Yes I'd agree that the amalgamation must be a long term one Stradbally parish gaels are 3 clubs joined for 30 years and St Pauls could be up to 50 and both seem to get on well. Amalgamations should be sensible (parish or adjoining clubs) and have a minimum term of time possibly 10 years which allows clubs to exist yet develop players at underage for the future
It might well be the guts of 50 years since St Paul's began but there was a period in the 90's when both clubs had their own underage and minor teams.
Similarly, Stradbally have left Annanough and Timahoe to their own devices a couple of different times.

Bloody hell that was frustrating tonight. The most annoying part being that Antrim were very average. Once again, Evan was being subject of plenty of hardship without getting too many frees.
Hard night to play football to be fair to both teams. Must win next week now.

Agree Heshs about Dillon especially when's he's playing  on the half back line . Very dynamic in everything he does . I fancy that half back of himself , Jol and O'Flynn . Lots of tenacity to there game .
Is there terrace in this place Heshs or a grass bank ?
No terrace on far side from stand. Just grass standing area. Can't remember if it was a bank or more level ground.

Any team from us Hesh?
Sorry, no, only heard it was a draw, that's all.

Think we got a tough enough draw in Kildare. They're usually decent at this level.
Eddie Kinsella in charge again. Played Tipperary during the week and had a very big win. 12 points or so I heard. Were due to play Sligo today. Didn't hear anything about that one.
Drew with Sligo.

I'd say I'm one of very few if any posters here who've been in the grounds in Ardee previously. We played a Leinster intermediate club game there in 2018 (and won too, so a good omen). It's a nice ground with a decent stand, maybe a bit smaller than the one in Portarlington.
Be brilliant if we could start off on a winning note on Sunday after a very useful O'Byrne Cup. But it's always tough to win away in the league. Hopefully, a few of the injuries we had last week are clearing up. Dillon is such an important player for one.

I see Robert Piggott and Sean Byrne are playing rugby with Port. Both are a massive loss to the Laois footballers.

Shocking result, would be acceptable for hurling... not football.
Can't find any match report or lineup anywhere.

and theres the issue right there

some in the Football Fraternity labouring under the impression that football in the county is better than what it actually is

The Footballers got torn apart by a Division 4 Team today

Thats the level they are at
I read that as it's more acceptable to lose by that margin in hurling than football not the way you did.
Anyway, I really doubt there are very few from the "football fraternity" who think our football team are currently anything other than in a bad way. We've haemorrhaged players from last year's squad and have seen countless lads turn down Sheehan's invite to play. I'll be thrilled if we stay up, beat Wicklow in championship and maybe win a game or two in the second tier championship.
It was a tough day for the lads who are on board yesterday. Not many bright spots. James Finn looks a good addition. And good to see his clubmate Sean Moore playing the full game. The more county football he gets, the better. Mark Barry was good too. He knows where the posts are. Hopefully we'll see a few more faces Wednesday night and also next Saturday.

Isn't Russell a Laois man? He seems to have a long history of being biased against us....years ago it was Offaly and Vinny Claffey/The Millinnnnnneeeeium Man.
He appears to have moved onto Westmeath in more recent times!
A Clonaslee man I believe.

I see Leinster council playing club semis in Croke park..some game changer for the teams to be playing there away from the normal muck and sh1ite at that time of year....
That's a great incentive. Port or Portlaoise will be at home to Garrycastle or Lomans with the winner of that getting to play in Croker.

Ballyroan
O'Dempseys
Graigue
Port

If Walsh is half fit for the Heath match Ballylinan will  win .
When was the last time The Heath were relegated to Intermediate ?
They won the intermediate in 1986, pretty sure they've been senior ever since.
That was their second team. They've been senior a lot longer than that.
