An absolute legend. My favourite player to watch playing for Laois over the years and always seemed to carry himself well on and off the field.

Being in Navan on this day was easily the highlight:

Laois / John O'Loughlin

I see that John has announced his retirement.

I'm sure he won't be happy with how things have finished up with the Laois footballers. However, he has given incredible service to Laois minor and U21 hurlers and footballers and senior footballers for the best part of 20 years. Never gave anything less than 100% and was a key man for us for many years. Thanks and good luck John. His passion and drive will be missed by Laois and I'm sure he will continue to be an important player for Rosenallis for a few years yet.

Laois / Amalgamated Hurling Counties

I am starting this thread and will immediately duck to avoid getting hit by all the missiles that will be thrown at me!

Just an idea......


Ulster recently came up with the idea of creating an Ulster team to enter the All-Ireland hurling competition - pulling in all the best hurlers to produce a team that might be much more competitive than Antrim alone. (There are zero Ulster teams in this years championship - Antrim are Christy Ring).

What about the idea of a Midlands or Divisional team?? For pig-iron's sake say Laois, Carlow, Kildare, Wicklow or (god forbid) Laois, Offaly, Westmeath. There are a 100 ways it could be put together and another 1000 problems but it could give the best players in each county a chance at a Leinster / All-Ireland medal.
