After yesterdays results, Donegal, Meath and Ros losing and results to date it appears that teams that have peaked during the league look leaden footed for the Championship....

Will we see an even lessor interest in the league next year as a reult?

Jaysus highorlow, that's a bit premature. I think this year is the exception that proves the rule. For the last couple of years the league has been taken very seriously, and the teams that did well in the league were to the fore in the Championship as well.

Donegal are always liable to implode, and Tyrone were awesome at times yesterday. Mayo and Galway is always a toss of a coin, and both Meath and Roscommon were in Division 2, and Meath only lost after a replay.

Roscommon were poor, but then again, they didn't exactly set Division 2 alight, they more or less stumbled into a League 2 Final.

Agree with 5Times.  It is important.  The noticable point about Donagals league win this year was that they played their full side against teams who were missing several regulars.  This may have led to the optimism that was there for the championship.  Its no fault of their own, as you can only beat whats in front of you.  But due to Kerrys an  champions participation in the All Ireland club final, and Tyrones experimental/injury affected approach to the league Donegal faced mere shadown teams in the league, with the Dubs and Mayo also missing quite a few.  Its not over for them yet, but after their showing in their 2 championship games, its hard to see them going anywhere.

On the back of their awesome performance yesterday, Tyrone should be automatically crowned league champions for the next five years. The remaining places should be played out among the Tyrone minors, U21 and ladies teams.

The league is usually a good indicator when Tyrone or Kerry win it and not when another team wins it.  :P

League form is fairly consistent of your from Waterford or Kilkenny. Remember that this is a GAA discussion board, not just a football board :-[

League semi finalists in Football

Division One

Donegal- Out of Ulster Championship
Kildare -Out of Leinster Championship
Mayo-Out of Connacht Championship
i believe the other semi finalists were Galway???-Still in Championship

Division Two
Meath-Out of Leinster Championship
Roscommon-Out of Connacht Championship
Cavan-Out of Ulster Championship
Monaghan-Still in Ulster Championship

Its this simple

In most of the league Games I seen Cavan play,They were a good bit fitter than their opponents.
When it comes to championship football,Theres a culture shock when you discover the players are now as fit and as fast as you, when a couple of months earlier they werent. Then You are lost.
Since 1997,ive seen Cavan unfit for the league twice,
Once Under Eamon Coleman, when we were relegated,Beat Antrim after a replay and Ran Armagh into the ground but lost,Our Fitness levels that day was unreal, like 2002 when we reached a league final against Tyrone, after running teams into the ground in the league due to fitness, when Championship arrived,we were lost due to the rise in intensity level and were one of the first teams to exit the Championship and qualifers aswell.
Other years
I think Certain Intercounty teams are peaking too early in the year(too much heavy training) too early.
Donegal were playing championshipesque football in March, yet come championship they were unimpressive in both games.
