As recently as a few Sunday ago I heard it said. I was remarking that Eoin Larkin's legs looked a little lacking in condition when his wasp-like socks were pulled up. My father nodded, agreed and then he said it. Army man. Then I said it, quietly, under my breath. My earliest recollection of it ever being said was in reference to former Dublin captain Tommy Carr. What does it mean though? And is my old man the only one who utters it?

They were 'demoralised' in the Downings Bay Hotel but McGuinness asked them to trust him, to believe. The rest, as they say...

Our lives took different paths but I'd like to think we'd still have the same memories, Willie Maher (William to his mother) and me?!?

Whether or not Pat Gilroy should have gone out on a high last September is neither here nor there, not much damage has been done despite the far from satisfactory exit at the hands of Mayo. The St Vincent's man was surely tasked with bringing Sam back to the Hill and that box is now ticked! Jim Gavin is the natural successor and in his hands the future of Dublin football is safe. Agree or disagree?
