Hurling for Cancer Research

After fantastic success in 2012 the Hurling for Cancer Research event is set to return on Tuesday, August 13th at St Conleth's Park, Newbridge.

Last year the event raised over €120,000 and we are hoping that it will be just as successful this year.

The day will consist of a hurling match between teams player-managed by renowned racehorse trainer Jim Bolger and star National Hunt jockey Davy Russell.

Both teams will consist of celebrities and people well known throughout horseracing, hurling and the wider sporting world. Those returning stars include Ireland soccer legend Niall Quinn, TV and radio presenters Grainne Seoige and Sile Seoige, Olympic Gold medallist Ronnie Delaney and nine-time All-Ireland winning hurling manager Brian Cody. Liam Griffin, the man who led Wexford to All-Ireland glory in 1996, will also return as team manager.

There will also be several new faces for Hurling for Cancer Research  in 2013, with the additions to the line-up to include The Sunday Game hurling analyst and former Galway player and manager Cyril Farrell - who will referee the game - and the living legend that is Kilkenny's DJ Carey, who will be assistant manager on the day.

He probably had Cody yelling in his ear all evening.
