When we are starting Evans and Lindelof in a back 4 together it shows the lack of quality within the squad in general.

Not getting at Evans as I don't think he has done anything wrong in particular in any of the games he has played in since his return. It is the fact that he was even brought in in the first place is the issue.

The game was a complete display of the gulf between the two teams/ squads. I don't think anyone was shocked by it.

And of ETH what did people expect him to do tactic wise, he had to sit in and try to catch them on the break-aways. Had Rashford a bit more bottle and quality the tactic actually would have worked.

Anyone else finding the Fibrus Antrim MOTM award slightly cringeworthy?

If he'd put a shift in I honestly wouldnt mind if he wasn't playing well but the effort just isn't there.

Got to the stage where he wants to ride the wave of being the local boy doing good when things are going well, but when they aren't going well he doesn't want the attention that comes with being the local boy.
Should be shown the door with his mates Pogba/Lingard/Sancho. Attitude stinks.

By the sounds of it even the interest from PSG with the Mbappe money has cooled. So I don't see anyone that he would move too actually wanting him at this stage.

Quote from: NAG1 on February 29, 2024, 11:20:43 AMTo be fair to AWB he was bought before this new era of Full Backs really took off. He was bought to be a more traditional defending type full back.

It not really his fault that the position has evolved in other teams into something that he just hasn't got the skill set for.

Attacking full backs weren't a thing until after 2019?!

Not saying they weren't a thing, they weren't as advanced in terms of the tactical set up then as they are now in the way teams are deploying them.

Full backs are now dropping into midfield to create over loads and being expected to be able to do that being comfortable on the ball as well as being able to attack and defend.

Look at the way Dalot has been used even within a struggling team tactically. AWB was never going to be a ball playing full back, even though believe it or not he has improved on the ball during his time.

Quote from: statto on February 29, 2024, 09:29:30 AMIs there no academy graduates who could do a job at left back?  Shaw/Malacia always injured and look so lopsided when Dalot/Lindelof play there.  Lindelof is poor in natural position and brings nothing going forward.  Reguilion was a disaster, Spurs couldn't wait to ship him on again.

The signing of AWB for £45million was more poor business, given that the recruitment team should have been aware of his frailties going forward and knowing that United would be expected to dominate possession particularly at OT.

I read or heard that before they signed AWB they looked at something like 80 different RBs.

10 fold... "He was #MUFC's top pick from a database of 804 right backs"

Quote from: trailer on February 29, 2024, 08:45:11 AMTimes up for Fernandes. His attitude and constant yapping would drive you demented. Play acting rolling around the floor then hoping up a minute later nothing wrong with him. He'll be gone before you can say INEOS.

Interesting no red card for forest when Feilpe grabbed Fernandes by the neck. Same as Cassemiro. Yet another very poor VAR decision.

Agree with what you say, but there are alot more pressing problems than Fernandes.

That unfortunately is very true

Bruno is one of the bright sparks in a decidedly average squad. He gives absolutely everything for the team in every game, despite being played mostly out of his favoured position.

With a functioning midfield around him he is a world class player.

Quarter final exit looks most likely now after that draw and will do well to avoid a trimming speaking of a trimming it should be at least 2 or 3 goal margin victory for the blue half in the Manchester Derby on Sunday.

Liverpool are a mess with injuries at the moment. The Kids stuff will catch up. As bad as Utd are they are streets ahead of Southampton. Plus the game is a home game for Utd.
I wouldn't bet on utd beating anyone. We have our own injury concerns. They have the desire and a manager they want to play for.

Here in lies the problem, this group have picked and chosen when they wanted to play and who they wanted to play for, for too long now.

I would imagine that in a the high performance environment that INEOS want to create this attitude will not be tolerated and would be one of the first things addressed.

Total lack of speed in the play, Garnacho being sacrificed over on the left to accommodate Anthony. I know the injuries are there but players out there must start taking a bit of responsibility.

Quote from: johnnycool on February 28, 2024, 09:40:18 AMJust saw on the football thread that Antrim are moving their minor fixtures to accomodate last year minors and allow them to play adult.

Is the same likely to happen for the minor hurling league in Antrim which is currently set for a Sunday morning?

From what I understand JC the Sunday morning fixtures did not suit the Minor grade in gerenal for a number of different reasons, playing adult games was probably down the list on why it didn't suit.

When are they playing the minor games now?

I have heard some chat that they are wanting to swap with the u16 grade which ever evening their games were on and send u16s out on the Sunday mornings.

Imagine the affront.
Is there grounds for a compensation claim?

It does say a little more about where Dublin are the we are really.

We know where we are with the current squad, so none of these results are coming as a surprise, it is a real pity but that is the reality of where we are with the group.

I heard PG1 have done a bit of decent business over the offseason. Enda Lynn in process of completing a transfer?

Seriously what is wrong with Portglenone that they don't want to play their own. Lynn is from Greenlough, McGarry from Bellaghy. There is no team who can't claim to be wholesome in this regard, but to actively go recruiting is another. Poor form in my view.

Not sure they had to do much recruitment for that, also hearing that Greenlough aren't too badly concerned at the departure.

Ah stop, 5 wins in a row, probably makes them the most in form team in the league. The most expensive squad ever assembled in the history of the game, top 4 is in their sights, and is theirs to lose at this stage.

You need to stay off the glue lad, simple math will tell you Utd will have the same league finish as Liverpool last season.. Utd have Liverpool Arsenal and City to play.. In fact I doubt very much they will get top 6
