Outstanding athlete, outstanding rugby player.

But, this thread is about the man and his views.

Everyone has the right to their views, rightly so, Folau views on gay marriage / gay people due to religious beliefs have caused more than some trouble on a number of occasions now.

Is there a place for this in the modern world? Qantas are furious but Australian Rugby has essentially given him a slap on the wrist.

Australia has just legalised same sex marriage - David Pocock has and is a major public figure in that campaign. An interesting side note when they meet up for Wallaby duty.

Started the thread really to see what people thought of Folau's actions and, maybe, a welcome change from the rugby troubles at home that have been much publicised.

Darren McCurry with 0-08 for Edendork. Showing what he is capable of with some freedom.

Maybe Harte should write to the top counties and ask them if they could give him a bit more space like at club level.

or maybe Harte could give his players some freedom to play... as Sean Cavanagh said about last year they were "slaves to a system." We'll see how it develops this summer when they meet the big guns

I'm sure Gavin tell's the Dublin lads go out and have a bit of craic and do as you please. This system stuff and lack of freedom is an easy excuse. A lack of freedom doesn't make you miss important free kicks for example.

some difference the system Tyrone could play 2003 - 2010 and last few years and Im guessing Sean would know

The next time Tyrone are playing Clonoe we should give Darren a shout... Notice he kicked a last minute free to win it yesterday as well, pity he couldn't do the same for Tyrone over the last few years

Should be noted in context, Connor McAliskey missed a last kick free to draw it.

Can we blame Harte for him missing this free?

Sure what do I care about what Mickey Harte thinks?

I'm just saying if men are going to slate a lad for scoring a winning free as an ex Tyrone player for what they perceive as not stepping up when it counts, they should maybe worry more about a current Tyrone player missing frees under the same circumstances in the same game.

Or is that maybe too logical?

Did I hear correct Greencastle reserves hit something ridiculous like 10-15 against Stewartstown reserves though?

Must have decent enough players somewhere?

we were missing quite a few yesterday and i think we started the reserve game with only 12 players with another 1 or 2 players arriving at h/t.
was in stark contrast to the weekend before when we scored 8 goals against Aghaloo.

Sorry didn't mean that to be derogatory, maybe it came across like that.

Fair play to Stewartstown for going ahead and playing game under those circumstances. Many a club wouldn't have bothered.

Tight game at Michael Coney Park where Ardboe finished Very strongly against a game Aghyaran side.
Ronan McNamee has a very good game in midfield. That young Gallen lad in nets is great to watch with his forays up the field and by God he can hit a free.
Some fine scores from Kyle Coney,Wee Nishy and a clinker  from David Mulgrew helped seal the win for the Rossa.

Known about him for some time now - that's the way the game is going, I've always said Goalkeepers in the GAA should be effectively sweepers. Sure, he'll get caught out the odd time, but everyone can use their hands on the GAA pitch. It makes sense to have 'ball playing keepers'....to steal Peps philosophy, I suppose.

Darren McCurry done the scoring but Tyrone u20 Paul Donaghy done the damage - he was tremendous especially in the first half - leading to the rougher tactics later on. Conn Kilpatrick also destroyed McClure. Wonder will that be reported on to the county supremo?

Best that this is left here to be honest, was a poor showing but tempers flare at times. Thankfully nobody was really hurt.

Not too far wrong  Bigtogs, it wouldn't be like clonoe to start a row. The only judasing I saw was from Clonoe. pretty sure I saw one of the players kicking an edendork man in the head after being knocked to the ground. Very brave! Edendork were winning the game by 7 points and a few Clonoe thugs thought they'd try to rough them up, but again this is probably a one off! ::)

So Barton did not try and head butt one of our players???... what happened after that was 100 per cent wrong from BOTH teams not sure how referee sent no one off.  Edendork run the game up to that stage you are correct and they deserved to win the game we near stole a draw at the end.  McCurry was superb

That's correct - he did not try to head butt anyone. He bumped into Clonoe nr11 and was then knocked off his feet with a punch.

He led with his head and made contact.  Why did referee send Barton off and no one else.

He didn't send him off. He asked him to leave the field to get the blood cleared from his face. Damian then watched the remainder of the game whilst getting treatment close to the clubrooms.

The referee done superbly to finish the game - Clonoe caused havoc when they went direct and hit some really bad wides immediately after the brawl in the 2nd half but it would have been cruel for Edendork to lose - they were superb.

I heard he was judased from behind and that he's not a bit well.

Damian Barton is fine, just to stop that particular rumour.

What Bigtogs leaves out is why Barton was on the field 10 minutes into the second half, Clonoe had just scored a goal to take it to a 4 point game, Edendork then scored a goal of their own. After that goal two Clonoe players had wrestled and tore the Edendork player to the ground attempting to hit him off the post - he, rightly was worried about the safety of his player.

If the above incident doesn't happen, the absolute mess of the following ten minutes doesn't happen. The game was lucky to be finished, I thought it was going to be abandoned.

So what was the verdict on the weekend then?

Derrylaughan with a great result. Only real shock so it was.

Tatts v Greencastle surely was a shock?

Don't follow below the senior clubs. Would take a quick check at results but don't form much of an opinion. I do know half of Greencastle is in Oz which wouldn't help.

Any key players in oz?

John McCullagh - Full Forward, Cahir McCullagh - Midfield and on the County team last year, Chrissey Gillen - Corner Forward, Dean Fox - Reserve Player, These are a few recent exports and then you have Paddy Keenan - Mid Fielder and Danny McDerrmott who has been there a number of years who'd prob be full back/Centre half if he was home. Also Pearce Warnock corner back from last year I think is over there.
Also I think only 1 of the Clarkes as in Enda and Eden are playing, but i could be wrong here, one was definitely playing for a club in Belfast recently. Can anyone clarify anything I have wrote or correct me if Im wrong as Im not 100% on it
Shane Coyle also was abroad in Oz, not sure if he's home or not.

Short answer to your question: Yes quite a few key players
Marty Conway and Sean Warnock are another two players that are away from Greencastle. That is a serious turn over in players, no club be fit to cope with losing that amount of players.

Christ that is more than even I knew of. Any other clubs struggling with emigration? Warnock and the 2 McCullagh's be some loss to any team.

Controversially, was talking to one of the Greencastle lads about player loss etc, emigration and of course I said sure if you opened up the goldmine you boys be set.

Went down like a lead balloon.

Be some craic if colly Cavanagh lines out for the moy 2moro!

It would, Clonoe would be laughing if he did, wouldnt say much for the Moy subs if a man that cant run at the minute lines out for them lol

From what I'm told, they won't have that many subs and aren't fielding a reserve team. Hugely embarrasing if this proves correct.
