What luck had Liverpool along the way to the 2005 final?

Ghost goal v Chelsea. What looked like a good goal from Del Piero ruled out for offside v Juve.

If football followed logic, Barca and Ajax would be playing on June 1st?
Which is why i said maybe another unexpected twist will happen.

Teams always get a bit of luck here and there on the way to a final.

And in a final.

United did in 99, 08. Liverpool in 05, and the luck was hanging out of Chelsea in 12.

It should be pointed out, they came from behind in the Nou Camp with 10 men to get to the final. They were smashed also by Napoli in that year and came back too I think maybe in first knockout round.

The final probably correct but they deserved to be there on that occasion.

That's the beauty of the Cup Competition - you need luck to get into the position to win, now both Liverpool and Tottenham have made their own luck.

They got to and won the final because of Drogba and Torres.  They could defend with 9/10 men men and lump it up to them to feed off scraps. Ugly but it worked. Wish now United had tried that tactic v Barca in 2009 and 2011!   ;D

Napoli win similar to United v PSG - feel good factor from a new manager.

Chelsea very lucky at home v Barca. A breakaway goal in Nou Camp. Messi miss penalty. Even at 2-1 Chelsea we're going through. Torres goal at end when Barca stretched.

Didn't Robben miss a pen in final too?

I remember when Messi missed that penalty. I thought, that's it, it's Chelsea trophy. Even with half the team suspended for final.

Who were they going to lump it up to?

Chelsea had the luck in 2012 but they were due it.

2004- Monaco hand ball goal in SF.
2008- On top in final. Ferdinand shpuld've been red card and maybe penalty.
2009- Just completely robbed in SF v Barce.

That's just off the top of my head!

What did Rio do in 08?

High foot/ head high tackle on Joe Cole. There was no replay of it on the night but there was a few angles of it on social media after it. YouTube maybe.

I actually noticed it live.

Booting a lazy fat cnut like Joe Cole should be commended rather than penalised!  ;)

Smokey Joe!  I feel a bit dirty here as I actually agree with Over the Bar....
