Two Hands FFS

Yeah choose to stay & never agreed to join Madrid. Liverpool  just need a dodgy fax machine too

Liverpool's in the box seat on this on, with all the power.  They don't have to nor need to sell Coutinho.  Barca's the one with the difficulty. They must get a signing quickly, to placate their supporters after Neymar's exit.  If Coutinho stays he'll be playing as usual.  It's just wishful thinking to suggest he won't.
That's just, like your opinion man.

80 million up front and 30 odd million in add ons.  Liverpool are dead right to hold out.  Barca got their 220 million up front from PSG.  If they want or need Coutinho so bad then they will pay the whole lot up front.
Despite Coutinho going Liverpool needed a few players still to fill out squad.  Don't see much progress with this!

The only reason they got it up front was because there was no negotiation as it was a release clause fee that needed to be paid in full to be triggered. Pretty much none of these big money transfers are all up front.

Well unfortunately for Barcelona there will be no deal.  The add ons are a joke aswell.  Apparently he needed to win multiple champions leagues plus win the ballon d'Or!!

So Liverpool hold out for a price they don't get? What do they do with their player then?

When we get down to 4 or 5 days left in the transfer window. Time running out to recycle the money/ promise of money. Stick to their guns then?

The player will still be under contract in a world cup year.  Up to him then if he wants to play in World Cup.  Liverpool hold all the aces so its up to Barca to make an offer that the club can't refuse.  I would say 140 million would get the owners to go back on their word.

Agreed. As laudable as Fenway's 'not for sale at any price' stance is it simply means 'we want more money'.  No owners with a brain will keep a player that doesn't want to be there and will simply push for as much dough as they can lever.  Fenway will sell him, they just want better terms.

Come back in 5 years when he will be able to leave on a Bosman - he signed a 5 year extension seven months ago.

Play him.  They could also of course be looking at other options now rather than leave it until the end of the window.  But given the track record of transfers under FSG i wouldn't be holding out much hope of them landing a replacement any time soon.

Indeed, thus Liverpool hold all the aces.

Clever move. He he could refuse to play for the next 5 years and leave on a free when he's 30!   ;)

Minus15

Interesting team selection today, clear rotation which is good to see. Team looks a little weaker on paper but Salah available to come off the bench and squad needs to be utilised to compete at home and in Europe.

We haven't seen this yet from Klopp. Players won't be used to it but let's hope they rise to the occasion.

Result achieved but poor performance. I know Kopp needs to rotate players but on this evidence coutinho needs to get fit soon or he needs sold and money invested!
