Veteran broadcaster Derek Jameson has died aged 82. He edited the Daily Express, the Daily Star and the News of the World and was also managing editor of the Daily Mirror and was a presenter on BBC Radio 2

First step is to let the neighbours know. They won't know he's barking when they're not there because  ... well they're not there. You could suggest that they get a bark collar - they work very well. But if they're like a large proportion of dog owners, they're likely to take umbrage at your approach, in which case you have a number of options.

1. Go the legal route. Formally complain. If you don't get satisfaction - escalate - Document instances of barking., report the nuisance to the authorities, send a solicitor's letter, etc. etc. Probably a huge pain in the arse all round.

2. Retaliate. Make noise when they're trying to sleep. Let them know this is how it works. Stressful and confrontational.

3. Do what has worked for me recently. I work from a home office. Next door's dog started to develop a distracting barking habit. Anything moved, she barked. So I befriended her. Went over to her a few times a day and talked to her. Spoke to her every time I came in and went out, etc. She now thinks I'm one of her family/pack. In fact, she probably thinks I'm the leader. When she can see I'm around (which I let her know by letting her see me in the mornings) she doesn't bark. If she does bark, not knowing I'm there, all I have to do is open the window and speak to her. Works great.

I usually go with option 1.  I have no time for dogs and I'm not into making friends with them.  Depending on where you live there's probably laws against making that kind of noise all night. An owner is responsible for their dog.  If they aren't going to take their responsibilities seriously, force the issue.

If I had a neighbour like you that goes the legal route as first choice I'd put dog shite in your letter box!

In all fairness he did not suggest going down the legal route first, rather he suggested speaking to the neighbours as they wouldn't be aware that the pup was barking while they were out. He is right to also say that some dog owners may take umbrage at this approach but if you know them well and they're not dyed in the wool dog owners, then hopefully they will take heed and do something about it. Good luck

Your actions here are so bizarre its unreal. In fact its not bizarre its pathetic. Think about what you are doing. You are a grown man, a parent, and you're sitting hiding behind an assumed name on a computer poking hateful fun at another grown man, also a parent, about his weight. It reminds me of the kids who used to name call and then when you chase them would go running home to hide behind mammy. Does your wife and kids know what you be at when you're on the computer? Would they be proud of you do you think?

I'll admit I was pretty upset when you started to slag me off about this but not any more. Your actions say a lot more about you than they do about me. Your choice of programme, Little Britain, which pokes fun at the most vulnerable members of society - the disabled, the elderly, the overweight, the incontinent etc also speaks volumes about the type of person you must be. I'm going to use your spiteful bile as as an incentive and anytime I feel the going get tough I'll remind myself of your posts and that will help me along.

Finally do you see any irony between your posts on this thread and this message which you posted on another thread some time ago:

I can't believe it's taken you guys until now to catch this on. Did it never strike you that there was something sad, bitter and twisted about a person who comes onto a Message -board on a subject he has no interest in GAA, and posts one track stuff on it all the time? How did he find out about it? What takes him here? As I said the only solution is to ignore him.

Dont often agree with you Dougal, but this time you are almost bang on the money. I think he should be banned, he has no interest in Gaelic games and is only here to try to stir things up.

Dougal, I've had time to think and I was wrong, Coors Light isn't a bitches drink.

Also it is Corrinshego not Correnshigo. Their new field is being paid for by NMDC, that is you and me, the rate payer. This is despite the fact that the club have had various draws over the years, in fact the deal for the last field, the one that ended up going through the courts went tits up a few days before Big Joe drew the winning ticket, that one should not have gone ahead, the club knew they would not be purchasing the land and the money seems to have disappeared. There are more questions than answers wHere Corrinshego are concerned.

As for the rest of your rant, have a read through some of your own posts and then get back to me, we've been here before.

Thanks for correcting me on my spelling of Corrinshego. If you read your post again you'll notice that I don't have the monopoly on spelling mistakes.

You are wrong on so many counts. Firstly Newry and Mourne Council is not paying for the pitch, they gave the club a contribution towards buying the ground, the Club is paying for the development. The contribution from the Council is in no way different from its contribution to other clubs over the years.

As regards the rest of my 'rant', yes we have been there before, not of my choosing I hasten to add and I've tried to put out numerous olive branches to you in the past but to no avail. I told you some time ago that I had no desire to feud with you but you still see fit to come in with barbed comments at will.

As regards my weight gain, if I recall you mentioned at one time that you put on 9 pounds in 3 weeks which, if you take the summer to last 8 weeks, is not a million miles away from my rate of weight gain. I didn't see fit to make personal comments about you then and I don't now.

Could I suggest that we just ignore each other. I really have no desire to exchange e mails with a person who gloats at the misfortunes of a neighbouring GAA club and makes disparaging remarks about people just because of the way they look.

You're not wrong there. After a week being back my missus is about ready for another holiday. Thank God I've booked a few days in Killarney at Halloween for the Horslips gig

On a diet and attending Weight Watchers. Put on 2 stone over the summer, from a base of being a fat cnut anyway. Have changed to drinking Coors Light. Is there much difference?

BTW Its 4.30 euro a pint in Dundalk

How can anyone put on two stone in such a short time? You must be a real Bat Fastard.

Coors light is a bitches drink.

I was going to send this to you as a PM but f**k it I want anyone who is interested to read it. The first tine I exchanged stuff with you on this board was when you suggested that Correnshigo GFC was going down the tubes. I told you that what you were saying was idle gossip and I'm pleased to say I was right. Correnshigo, despite the stuff you posted about them, are up and sorted and their new field is well developed. You then started a practice of making hateful comments about anything I posted including a suggestion that my kids didn't make it to grammar school and now you have posted this personal remark about me. Just think about what you are doing here.
