The Paedophile Information Exchange was affiliated to the National Council for Civil Liberties - now Liberty - in the late 1970s and early 1980s. But how did pro-paedophile campaigners operate so openly?

It's hard to know where to put this - I honestly don't think this behaviour would be tolerated in a school!

A row has broken out at Belfast City Council after a DUP councillor put on a Linfield football scarf.

Sinn Féin objected after the DUP's Ruth Patterson put on the scarf while speaking on a motion calling on the council to honour outgoing Linfield manager David Jeffrey.

Sinn Féin councillor Jim McVeigh said their objection was not to the motion, but to the wearing of the scarf.

The issue has been sent for discussion to a council committee.

The monthly meeting of the council on Monday was held up for more than 10 minutes as a result of complaints from Mr McVeigh.

The deputy lord mayor Christopher Stalford, who was chairing the meeting at the time, dismissed the complaints and told him: "Sit down and stop acting like a petulant child".

Mr McVeigh rejected the comment.

He asked for clarification from council officials on whether or not a Linfield scarf should be allowed to be worn by members at an official council meeting.

Alderman Stalford refused to consult officials and moved on.

The decision on whether or not to honour record-breaking David Jeffrey, who is standing down as Linfield manager at the end of the season, was sent for discussion to a council committee.

In spite of the row over the scarf, it seems likely to win widespread support on the council.

A woman's body that was degrading in the back of a car for over half a decade has been found lying in a garage in the US neighbourhood of Pontiac, Michigan.

As her bills were paid by direct debit, her mail sent to the post office, and her grass regularly cut by a neighbour for six years, the woman's remains were only discovered in the Jeep Liberty after her bank account ran out of funds and someone was sent to check why mortgage payments had stopped.

The woman has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be 49-year-old Pia Davida Farrenkopf, the last owner of the house.

She was found clothed in a heavy jacket and jeans, which led investigators to suspect that she died in the winter, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The key was in the ignition, but switched to the off mode, according to Undersheriff Mike McCabe.

The death is being treated as a homicide at this time, and police say suicide by carbon monoxide is the likely cause.

Medical examiners hopes to find dental records to formally identify the corpse.

It is thought that the woman stopped working as a contractor in the financial department of the Chrysler car firm in 2008, when set up direct debit payments from her bank which at one time contained $54,000.

"It is kind of the perfect storm for a mysterious set of circumstance and a challenge because of the extreme degradation of the body," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

"The last withdrawal from her account was in March 2013," he added.

Edward Caroll, who married Farrenkopf's late mother three years ago, told local broadcaster WXYZ that Ms Farrenkopf was estranged from her family and did not answer her invitation to the wedding.

"I tried to find her through the Internet and everything and I never could find her.  And I wrote a letter a couple times and I think some of them came back. Her mother hadn't heard from her for years and years," he said.

Neighbours said the woman had family in Germany and would be gone for days or weeks at a time. When she was back home, she kept to herself, WXYZ reported.

"Nobody came over there to check on the lady. It's weird. And it's actually scary," a neighbour who wished to remain anonymous told the local TV station.

Penis cut off in attack in Middlesbrough The man was found at the side of the A66 in the early hours
A man has been found by the side of a road with his penis cut off.

The 40-year-old, from the South Bank area of Teesside, was discovered on the A66 in the early hours "in a distressed state" with wounds to his groin after the attack.

The road, from Greystones Roundabout to Church Lane in Middlesbrough, was shut earlier while searches of the area were carried out. It has now reopened.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and later bailed.

Cleveland Police said the injured man had been placed in an induced coma in hospital.

The force said in a statement: "Police can confirm that the man found this morning on the A66 had wounds to his groin area.

"Officers are continuing to investigate and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them."
