Could be one vacancy up for grabs in the 26 , depends on how getting fluid out of the knee impacts a player .

Ah don't be putting us on a downer in the week of an AI. At least it sounds like it's not a starter.

CAnt see how McLaughlin can start - double broken jaw?? Sure he wouldnt even have been eating. Its in the Telegraph so that probably means neither of them will ever play for Mayo again.
Having them would be huge, even if it was to come in at some stage. You cant keep losing quality players and it not have a big impact, without those 2 and COC Mayo are down 20% of a starting team with the additional impact of 3 impact subs moving into the starting team and 3 lesser lads moving onto the bench.

The only thing that makes sense there is if he wasn't as badly injured as reported. Horan said that he was back at training on the bike on the Tuesday so that seems to indicate that it wasn't too bad.

Rewatching the 2013 semi final, half an hour in. By god my memory of us not being able to kick snow off a rope wasn't wrong at all! Best part was Freeman having a goal ruled out because the ref was pulling it back for a free. Then McLoughlin kicked the 13m, more less centre, wide!

Wait until you get to the penalty for Mayo. We never should have got that. It was outside the box for sure.

Are Brendan Harrison and Enda Hession in contention to start for Mayo.  Will Tyrone start McShane or Canavan? Will O'Shea be moved to centre field and Tyrone weakness?

Harrison only got a few minutes in extra-time the last day, so I doubt he's fit to start. Hession was very impressive when he came on with his pace and lack of fear breaking the Dublin defensive lines in that second half so he should definitely be in contention.

McShane should be sprung off the bench where he's been most effective. Canavan is very young and hasn't played much this year due to injury, so I think the Tyrone management will side with experience on the big day.

James Horan should drop O'Shea. He was a liability against Dublin with his inability to track runners. He's just not suited to the wide open spaces of Croke Park.

Very impressed with Hession. What age is he?

Hession was eligible for the U-20s this year but I'm not sure what exact age he is.

Its another year of going round in circles, nothing has changed and there wasn't even a serious debate on the Sunday game so it will be another few years before its brought up again on TV.

The GAA don't like bad publicity, sponsors and broadcaster don't like it either so a social media campaign boycotting Dublin games on the TV would be a start.

:) almost 1 Million viewers on Saturday.

I wonder how many were left at the final whistle?

Fair play to Mayo wouldnt be at all surprised if they beat Kerry next weekend. Galway to their credit never gave up unlike Cavan
Losing to Mayo is one thing but Rossie plámás is beyond the pale

I thought that Galway showed a lot more today than against the Rossies even though they got hit by two early sucker punches. Take them away and there's nothing in that game and considering the start that Mayo got, we were lucky to come out on top against a depleted Galway team.

The future will be interesting. Galway looked to have the indian sign on us recently, but we seem to have uncovered some gems like Ruane, Coen, Carr and McDonagh since this time last year.

As I said earlier, Galway have some awesome young talent too and when you have a more progressive manager, there will be better days ahead. I'd say that we're going to have some big battles in store.

We're on target to get the sh*t kicked out of us in Kerry next weekend. A good Summer so far.

What a championship debut by Carr.
Cillian McDaid will give us nightmares in the future (hopefully  not starting tonight). He's a Rolls Royce of a footballer.

Forwards played well, Loftus had his best game ever in a Mayo jersey.

I still think back to Derry 2017 for his best game even though it was a cameo.

Missed this earlier but I see that James Madden from Dublin has joined the ranks of our foreign legion with the Brisbane Lions.

There's been many a time I've prepared the obituary for this team and at half time they looked in real trouble again. I think everyone can agree that Mayo give great value for the neutral fans. Most of the best games in the past 8 years have featured us.

In the days of blanket defence we still plug away with naive man on man defending.

Poor oul Keith is not a sweeper. Now we developed McLoughlin in to a very decent sweeper a few years ago. That's gone out the window for some reason.
Ye play with a sweeper just like every other team in Ireland..

Answer me this then. Why do so many of our games end up as thrillers. We are obviously the second best team in the country but we still bring every game down to the wire.

Because the sweeper isn't very good

That's three years in a row that Galway with the same template have beaten Mayo under Rochford. We showed very little signs of getting to grips with them until we started to match their 15 men behind the ball (14 in our case) after the sending off.

In the first half we committed too many men to attacks who were getting in each others way and that left us a bit open at the back once we finally and inevitably lost possession.

It was sad to see Parsons get an injury like that and his mobility around the middle will be hard to replace. No more needs to be said about the DOC sending off except that he can have no complaints.

Good luck to Galway for the rest of the championship. For Mayo, we'll need to use our panel fully from here on out even at the risk of going out early. I'd like to see a perceived soft draw allowing the likes of Hanley and James Durcan get a run.
