if you think "portlaoise Maurice" favours portarlington  you've obviously not been to too many senior championship games where he has officiated us.

thought the second half of  today's game was entertaining when killeshin finally had the belief in themselves and just went for it. they caused portlaoise problems when they moved the ball quickly. the first half they were too pedestrian and laborious, the best thing about the first half was when brendan mccann brought it to a close. portlaoise did enough just to win it n had their final pass being a little bit better the game might have been out of sight early in the game. aston and dillon were both making each other and were both very influential  from play for their respective team scoring a few from play each. does niall  rigney wear a maor foirne bib ?because once again he spent more time on the pitch than on the sideline, he does what he wants without being reprimanded

the abuse is probably worse now than it ever was, but this is down to frustration on players part, club players put in so much effort nowadays and give up so much of their lives that when a contentious decision goes against them, so they lash  out physicality and verbally, club players nowadays train like county teams did ten years ago. better pay and conditions would improve the standards

if mick tarpey was the sergeant in portarlington, would he have been allowed to ref that game yesterday?

great result last  night, what's impressive for me is that evertime we play, somebody else steps up to the mark. last night it was the kingstons turn to shine and boy did  they. thought paul's workrate and his ability to bring others into the game stood out last night. we looked a little nervous at times in defence when left in one on one situations in the full back line although we turned over alot of ball.  they played quick counter attacking football in the first half which we struggled with. its great that we are able to empty our bench and still finish strong. credit to sugrue and co, if you'd have said to me at the start of the year that ross would be starting a championship match this late on, but sugrue has for his match ups right. would be great to take a big scalp the next day while we have made good progession we probably have only beatin teams in championship that we would have expected to at the start of the year.

thought healy was poor by his own  standards.  still a very good player but by the looks of it today i don't think he would have the pace for inter county football anymore. thought he was beatin rather easily at times when run at. portlaoise done enough to win and  never really looked like they were going to lose out having said that they did look vulnerable in the full back line and o'deas had 2 good goal chances which they missed and thought portlaoise's two goals were rather scrappy in the build up and could have been avoided

O'Dempseys is in Killenard not Portarlington
well why is the open rule that if your from portarlington you can play for o'dempseys and vice versa if it wasn't the same catchment area

were really not getting enough out of portlaoise as we should be and this is not portlaoise gaa's fault.  its the county board issue, dublin co board have made sure that  football and hurling is easily accessible and encouraged in all parts of their county. i know we don't have the finances they have but it would be on a lot smaller scale here anyway. for example my own club portarlington, we have 1 u13 team , o'dempseys have 2 u13 teams and gracefield have 1 u13 team so thats 4 teams in the one town. now portlaoise as far as i know have 2 u13 teams in a town that has over 3 times the population as ours, so how many footballers are we potentially missing out on at county level because of this. n before people make the argument there's  more distractions in portlaoise like soccer , rugby,   swimming athletics, we have all them to compete with aswell. we need concentrate on the areas with the bigger populations but i might not be liked for saying this but alot of the smaller clubs don't want this as it means the likes of portarlington , graige, mountmellick, ballyroan abbey would become too strong for them to compete and some of our more traditional clubs don't want that because they might not be as successful.

Nice to see games alocated outside of o moore park with this one in stadbally on suday. At least there might be more of an atmosphere around d ground even with small support. Would love to see the county board put senior club championship games around the club grounds again. Use to love playing championship games in stadbally, timahoe, park and mountmellick, there was that extra bit of bite to the games when the crowd was nearly on to of you. In o moore park  in the earlier rounds at the moment you might hear a solitary clap and an echo, nothing to get excited about. No spark to the games and as a player thats one of the few things that could really drive you on even if results weren't going your way. All the county board want is an easier way of  policing the money they take on from the gates. Should have really started a new forum for this rant

Have lost faith in this management team already. Heard last night that paddy o sullivan was dropped off the laois panel and told he was too small to play centre back and not mobile enough to play wingback. They said that when they saw him play centre back with his club during the championship and said he wasn't strong enough to play there. Bit strange condsidering he never played centre back this year with us. Was sugrue watching the championship at all.  So the laois under 21 player of the year is gone off the panel without getting a run in the o byrne cup or start of the league, it's no wonder that half the players in our club have no interest in playing with the county when they are treated like this. We need to rebuild our senior team, we'd be better off dropping some of the elder statesmen

Yea ,have to hand it to portlaoise even though it kills me to say it. They were very professional and as always organised as they  took care of business today. Yea i heard alan farrel was injured in the warm up n it sadly had a bearing on his game as he has been their star performer all year. Thought d occasion got to ballylinan a little as you could see the nervousness in their defence which was evident on the first half especially in the mix up for the first goal. Thought john flynn should also have thrown up the ball in the build up to the second goal when he impeded the bally player competing for the ball. It might have made the second half a bit more competitive if so. All credit to portlaoise though by far the better team

I'd give them a chance, if they can stay in the game for the first 40-45 mins. They are physically in great shape n will still full of running with 10 mins to go. Portlaoise will not have met a more conditioned side all year.i hope the occasion dosen't get to them.

Yea maybe on a quality side of things yea the championship has been a bit below par, but most games involving port and ballylinan were very open and entertaining at least. Portlaoise are like george grahams arsenal, focused and difficult to beat but boring as hell. They play very defensive but because of their fitness levels and having physical mobile men between the two fiftys they can move the ball very quickly to their inside forward line. They are very tactically aware, the amount of possession they had in the first half of the odempsey game was unbelievable. They recycle the ball very well and only shoot when they are nearly certain of a score but  having said all that if ballylinan can get to bruno n cahilanne then we might be in for a right good game

Yea the two murphy brothers are the top scorers from play in the championship with 23 each. Quite an achievement. Still the same family names doing the rounds on the portarlington teams throughout the years. Murphys, ryans, fosters, bennetts and more coming through. We never seem to do well in the transfer market😂
