You need the stronger lads in the county playing against in each constantly to rise standards. Area teams are required for this to happen in a county our size with the number of clubs we have. Lads below that level could develop at their own pace with their club as suggested by Laois Rising above perhaps. The 7 a side competition just finishing up has been well received and may be the start of something new

Another problem then is players from the small clubs are discriminated against in that they are denied the opportunity to play a high grade football during their development years due to the small numbers available in their club. That then translates to county teams when they hope to transition from 9 a side games at a low level to full games at a higher standard. Having said that there is definitely a strong case for a single club competition as suggested to run alongside what's already in place

With such a short turnaround to the next championsip its unlikely Dublin will suffer many retirements or any noticeable dip in form. Should the challengers be looking at an 18 month project now to be ready for 2022 (while obviously looking to win if possible). Cluxton, Fitzsimmons, Cooper,  McCarthy and Rock could be retired by then

Not blaming anybody but just wonder did the crowd at the Kilcoo Mayobridge game last Fri all seemingly sitting on top of each other in the middle of the stand set off alarm bells in some quarters. Thought watching it at the time that it was going to cause some reaction

How about no pass back to you the goalkeeper inside the large square. Can't see any issue with goalkeepers coming out the field to become involved in play. It creates overlaps and some excitement in that the goals is open and you get the sense that one mistake could result in a goal as happened Graham Brody in the Div 3 final v Westmeath

Not a Kerry person.  Was standing behind the kildare  goals in the first half.  Hyland and Doyle spent the first 30 seconds of the game laying into Clifford and O Shea.  Looked like an obvious  planned  ploy to rattle the 2 younger Kerry forwards.  You might say that's  championship football  but when Clifford scored a fantastic point after selling hyland a dummy Hyland then threw him to the ground by swinging out of his collar.  Black card all day.  It appeared kildare went out to be ultra physical in certain areas.  You're walking a tightrope then and running the risk of picking up cards

Seemingly Poachers behaviour on Sun was disgraceful. Openly running around the pitch sledging the kildare lads. What's the point in the GAA supposedly cracking down on players sledging each other if they allow this carry on. I know Carlow are currently flavour of the month (and they deserve huge credit) but surely authorities won't want to see this on a big day in Croker.
Although a part of me would like to see him try and sledge 'Psycho'. St John's ambulance boys would be busy

Thought it was Paul Kingston doing all the running on his own over by the far ditch in Graigue Tuesday night. Never saw Brendan move from the wall apart from ht when Brody was warming up with kick outs. Even at that it was noticeable Colm Begley was kicking the ball back and not Brendan

Don't think there's anything in the substitution issue. I think it was the second last Clare substitution I happened to be looking at the ref as he spoke to a Clare player. The ref definitely made the 'T' sign with his hand before the Clare player went off holding his wrist/forearm. Remember thinking it was a strange blood sub. There must have been some blood visible to the ref.
Only second time I saw laois this year and extremely disappointed. No aggression, work ethic, passion, stomach for a fight, support play, tackling....I could go on. No sharpness in terms of fitness or ball work. Peter Creedon has to accept some blame but remember teams in the past where players stood up during tournaments and took control of THEIR team if management was letting them down (offaly hurlers with Babs, Cork hurlers, French rugby and soccer teams). Some posters are saying we need laois people leading laois teams at this point. We had 20 or so LAOIS people wearing Laois jerseys on the pitch yesterday. They have to accept responsibility for not giving everything possible and more. You can say they give unreal commitment training I didn't see much yesterday where it matters...on the pitch.
Doesn't matter who your manager is or what poor system is in place. You're representing your county and you should 'die with your boots on' as the saying goes. Saw too many players taking easy options (eg shadowing alongside Clare players running with the ball instead of tackling hard like kildare did against Meath). People might point to creedon but these players are playing football 20+ years surely to god they know how to tackle at this stage or what have they been doing all this time.
Heard Mick Bohan (ex Dublin coach ) talk lately how Johnnie Cooper was constantly challenging him looking to improve his game , working on his perceived weaknesses. Would our players do that or are they just happy to tag along each year like sheep

Is it time for the co board to get meaningfully involved with amalgamations? I know it may be similar to govt staying away from industrial disputes etc. but perhaps some order should be brought to these arrangements rather than the haphazard approach we've seen over the winter. If a special convention was called where the whole situation was properly debated and guidelines set down it could help. It seems to be gone beyond a club issue at the moment and the whole county set up is under serious threat. It needs leadership. Clubs either don't have the numbers or else do and don't seem to have the drive to flourish alone. It's pointless meandering along until it's suddenly too late to act

Firstly congratulations to stradbally. They really hung in there, left everything on the pitch and were able to produce the moment of brilliance at the exact right time. Hopefully they'll give Leinster a decent run.
People are getting carried away though heralding a new era. Most suspected the town would be caught in the next couple of years. From a county view you'd hope it was a case of another club matching they're magnificent heights rather than portlaoise coming back to the pack. Unfortunately the latter is the case. Portlaoise were poor by their standards Sunday but were still seeing out the game comfortably enough until Jody Dillon struck. Stradbally only scored one point from a 14 yards free in the 2nd half. Portlaoise made some very poor decisions with the ball when normally they would have put the game to bed. You can't help but feel that had portlaoise (in particular one or two of the normal leaders) played even slightly better they would have won.
While it may be good to see new champions it would be better to see standards raised

Great effort by Joseph's really tested portlaoise. First 20 mins was so much faster than previous game. Other teams tried to play like that v portlaoise but didn't have the pace to move the ball when they won it or fitness to last the hour. Joseph's do.

That game will bring portlaoise on though after the long lay off. You'd imagine they'll learn from last night. Whoever wins the replay will be in great condition for rest of championship.

Flynn tried to let game flow but some decisions were baffling. Luckily it was 2 teams out to play good fast football

Those 4 competitions are from professional money driven sports that have little or no connection with grassroots. There is no chance for exams that a player with a Leinster junior league side could play champions league with dundalk and go back to Leinster junior league a few weeks later.

We're always told gaa is unique in that regard. Your neighbour and club mate can get to play in the biggest days. This proposal is another break in that unique link. It shows disregard to clubs and lesser counties
