General discussion / Attic conversion
September 07, 2018, 07:35:23 PM
Getting the attic converted in the next few weeks.

Anyone who's had it done or in the trade - spray foam insulation v 200m wool is 1500e in the difference.

Is it worth it?

Hurling Discussion / Liam Watson to Dublin

Stories emerging the last couple of days that he's been approached by Dublin.

Hope it isn't true and it's blocked as a contrived transfer..

General discussion / Stove problem
October 11, 2013, 05:32:32 PM
Have a Waterford Stanley stove with a back boiler. There is a dial on the side for opening and closing the vent.

Works fine but even with the vent fully closed it seems to burn far too fast no matter what the fuel type.  I've seen other stoves and you can put fuel on and it burns at a normal rate.

Anything I should look for??

General discussion / Dubai

Have a long haul work trip coming up and am flying through Dubai.

Is it worth stopping off for a night or two? Is it expensive? Anything worth seeing?

"We remember the 2011 All-Ireland final, would I get that long to take a free or would the referee throw the ball in?" he said. "If I was delaying, waiting around, what would happen? That's my only issue with it."

While still not being able to take a fair beating, he clearly doesn't remember that he took ten seconds longer with one of his free's at a time when Kerry were cruising than Cluxton did with his last kick. He tied his lace, took a drink, checked the wind and took his run up.

Hurling Discussion / Cork Hurlers 2012 - JBM returns
February 24, 2012, 08:16:21 AM
So Cork have a very weak Waterford under lights tomorrow night.

Will Sean Óg have the legs for midfield?

Can JBM work his magic a second time around?

Will Reillers return?

General discussion / Installing a stove
June 10, 2011, 07:45:13 PM
I'm putting in a Stanley Stove with a Back Boiler at home.

I've taken out the fireplace and the hearth is 23" wide and 18" deep - the Stove is 21" wide and 18 t" deep.

I want to have the stove flush in the fireplace, so as it stands it won't fit.

It's a standard semi-d and my neighbours fireplace obviously backs onto mine - is there much leeway between the two so I could kango out a bit more room? Has anyone done anything like this before?

As above..

Personally I think they're excellent - smaller, conditioned games, each player seeing more of the ball, skills points - it can only improve a players development..

Available for pre-order on Amazon now - it's described as follows:

"The dispute between the Cork hurlers and their manager has transfixed Ireland. Of the many great hurlers who have taken their stand against the county board, none has been more eloquent than Dónal Óg Cusack. Now, with extraordinary frankness and detail, Dónal Óg tells the story of his life on and off the pitch and of the dramatic row that has kept a great and proud hurling side on the sidelines. Lift and Strike promises to be the frankest and most controversial book by a GAA player in the history of the organization."

Now who said any of the strikers were trying to make money out of it?

GAA Discussion / Inter county transfers
December 02, 2008, 02:20:36 PM
It looks like two high profile forwards (one from the West and one from slightly North) are going to be signing with Northside Dublin clubs in the next couple of weeks.

It's madness - something has to be done about it..

GAA Discussion / Role of GAA Club trustees
May 09, 2008, 10:37:42 AM
Anyone know the exact role/remit of GAA club trustress?

I know their role in terms of club property etc...but what about any wider functions..

Could the trustees call an EGM?

Does anyone know what the procedure is to get a GAA club designated as a charity/voluntary organisation for tax purposes?

I've been told that this status isn't automatically conferred and must be sought..

If I want to go to a corporate sponsor and tell him I want 20k, but he can write off X amount for tax purposes...
