I came back from Canada yesterday for this..I lost my voice but it was worth it..incredible win and bravery, incredible support, just so proud, back with the big dogs lol

[Reckons Mayo very strong this year.]

Didn't get to see the game tonight but a decent win for us.
I know nothing about this bunch personally but work with a guy who is involved in underage Galway football academy who reckons they aren't anywhere near the level of last years crew and isn't expecting them to compete at All Ireland level this year.
He would have told me before the start of last year that they were very promising.
Reckons Mayo very strong this year.

Apparently as strong as last year if not stronger now. Their U15s two years ago was running up big scores and collecting silverware.

Is it possible for ye to be stronger. Last years team was elite and very impressive. I know Galway won the AI but Mayo were better imo. Its ultra hard to beat a team 3 times in a row. I was happy we got 3-10 on ye in Ballina in a pretty epic match we lost.

Galway look a serious side. Someone needs to check no14 birth cert because he's a unit. Sligo did Incredibly well to hold galway to 4 pts. Some great last ditch blocks and saves to prevent Galway goals but i wouldnt agree it was that comfortable. The only thing I would say is the galway goal was very fortunate point chance that hit post and they had only 2 wides to our 8 so I wouldn't be waving the white flag yet from our perspective. If we had Eli Rooney inside we would be serious contenders. 4 or 5 of our lads looked very promising and all showed huge bravery at times. If we can finish 3rd in the group I'd be happy and give the semi final a good rattle.

Actually thought Sligo looked a pretty decent side again. Agree on the Galway 14. He went into midfield for every kick out and he must have caught about 5 or 6 kickouts clean. A monsterous young fella. And the captain McGlinchey in midfield was dominant around the middle as well. Galway probably wasteful with goal chances spurned but Sligo again look to have a very competitive underage side.

Thanks GBB, good outside perspective. Don't get me wrong Galway are good enough to hammer teams for sure but I just thought our lads did well to wrestle momentum back at various stages. From a Sligo perspective seeing our 3,6, 8, 9, 11 looking very accomplished is all I needed to see to add to what's coming through now at u20. Hopefully our u20s can deliver again on Wednesday because its hard to believe we have 10 starters and our best player who comes on all underage again next year. The more players coming through together at the same time the better.

All in its good we don't face Mayo until last because Leitrim and Roscommon will tell us more of where we are at.

Massive statement win and performance. Mayo 1-9 Sligo 0-17. Much more comfortable than I expected. Going 1-3 to 3 pts down to outscore Mayo 14-2 until last 10 mins where we were just managing down the clock. Callinan and Tuohy didn't look any better than of our lads so would indicate our lads are senior ready.

Our transition from defence to attack is seamless and once we injected a bit more intensity into the game Mayo couldn't live with it. I still feel there is more in us. It is hard not get excited with the players coming through, does Canice Mulligan ever not look immense on the ball or turning out of trouble? Rossa has his fathers immense left foot and he has a good bit more pace than him. I just love how they always back each up in support play and tackling. Its rarely done in isolation.

It is great to see a Sligo team really push on from winning a Connacht title last year.

Galway up next, they have home advantage.

I watched the game wanting to Roscommon to win but probably more neutral than anything else. Roscommon were very good in so many facets. Ball retentions, setting traps, squeeze defence, clinical etc... but no mention on here about the referee?

I thought the ref had a decent game to be honest. He wasn't fooled by lads (on both sides) diving at various points trying to win frees. He generally waved play on and called it right usually. Think he got the penalty call right as well. I would gladly have taken him over the buck the week before anyway.

I thought he refereed the tackle, going down for the ball and in third man type stuff differently for both teams. He got the penalty right but I felt Mayo had to work a lot harder for their frees.

Gaelic football must be the hardest sport in the world to referee. What's the point in bitching about any poor eejit that has to do an impossible job?

That is fair enough just for me he could of refereed it a lot fairer. He was incredibly harsh on Mayo and gave soft frees to Roscommon throughout. I still cant get my head around the off the ball free in the first min. It actually got to the point where I googled him and seen he reffed Sligo v Roscommon last year and sent off our player early harshly turning the game into a non contest. Roscommon will be hoping he refs their remaining matches. I don't think its an impossible job to be a fair referee.

Great win for us Ros 1-8 Sligo 0-15

We were 10-1 up at one stage and gave Roscommon life at the end of the 1st half and they pushed us hard and got back to a 1pt with 10 mins to go but we regained control to score the last 3 points. Very impressive at times but should never have let them back into it. Previous Sligo teams would have buckled but not this team. Some serious talent coming through and bench is strong.

Mayo in Castlebar in 7 days. It will be tough, we beat them 3 years ago so hopefully we can again. Congrats to all involved.

Watched Galway V Leitrim, it was an awful standard from start to finish, both teams guilty of poor shooting and turnovers. There was generally a poor intensity to the game. At 7-6 Leitrim had a few openings for the equaliser but never looked like having the fire power inside. Surprised Galway looked so poor tbh. Galway have 15 days until final so will get a good look at the other side of the draw and can only improve.

How are Roscommon fixed for our game tomorrow? There doesn't seem to be much between Sligo, Ros and Mayo this year? Hopefully the Schools success doesn't affect us too much.

The GAA has always been one of the most unfair sports in the world but that scheduling in Galways favour is openly giving them an advantage. Why don't the other counties ever say no and hold the fixture scheduler to account and as you say have Galway Leitrim be on the next week?

Wicklow need us to win or draw and they will be promoted with us because of the head to head with Laois. Interesting side note is McEntee and McConville will be sharing notes on both leitrim and waterford during the week.

Winner takes all in our derby with Leitrim. A draw will do us too. Leitrim did fantastic to win today so they'll be on a high. Id have them as favorites at home. The score difference could screw us.

Cracking last day, last year they changed the days and times of the games to make it very unfair so this year id imagine it will all the same time. Hoping Leitrim v Sligo is on GAAGO.

There is a fair old chance in the next round of results ourselves and Laois could be promoted with a game to spare.

If Sligo beat Carlow, Laois beat Leitrim and Wexford beat Wicklow we would both be up with a game to spare.

Obviously it could also go the opposite way too and tighten things up even further.

After watching the ref Devenney in the challenge game against Mayo I knew he wouldn't let us win today and he duly obliged Roscommon.

5 mins into second we are down to 14 men and not only that for next 4 attacks he gives us frees coming out of defence instead of advantage and duly slows the game down enough for Roscommon to set up defensively.

Just glad it's not an important game.

Sligo were better team. Our underage is beginning to show through and older lads are in better condition. We were awful.against Mayo a few weeks ago but today much better. Hopefully we can kick on this year.

Even when down 14 we looked solid enough. 9 changes second half too.  Squad looks stronger.

A bit like the summer in CSFC not mentioning the sending off in yere summation as if it's no bearing 😄

I think I'd hold off on such comments until and If Sligo gain league promotion and reach the Connacht final than giving any judgement for pre-season game played indoors against opposition who had 9 or 10 players making their county debuts.
