This is always worth a thread of its own, one of THE sporting occasions of any year... And yes the coverage is substandard compared to the usual big tournaments but that's down to the organisers not the TV companies (someone is bound to bring this up :))
Rory in supreme form thus far this season so probably the form pick but who knows
The Masters is usually different though would be interesting to see the last time the favourite won it I would think it was Tiger.
He's in with a great shout too but the competition around him is too much I think there's a group of about 10 who on their day could potentially win it... potentially more even.
Looking forward to it although will miss Saturday night which is unfortunate.
Very tempted to take Monday off and watch Game of Thrones when it's out @ 2am.
A great sporting spectacle - be really tempted to go over to it next year - those your gold travel deals for it always seem like a decent enough deal. Will stick on a few punts for it - will prob back Biffo and Rory and then maybe one or two others - maybe Leishman/Matsuyama or Adam Scott for three that will be slightly higher odds

Was looking for this yesterday, I see it was only posted last night. It makes sense as you read through it but in fairness when he has them all weeded out most of the world's top players remain which is what you would expect ;D

McIlroy
Fowler
Kopeka
Lowry
I have McIlroy done and a small bet on Sergio but Justin Rose is my main pick. I think he's been close a few times and his form has been good until he took a bit of a break there so I just have a feeling he'll do it.
I'd prefer Rory but he's no odds really so not much value in him.
Have done Sergio and Keegan Bradley ew

Spieth has been in dismal form throwing in double bogeys and triple bogeys for fun with even his famed putting deserting him. There have been signs of late of him getting back on track and bar one 9 hole stretch that he played in +6 last week in Texas he'd have been there or thereabouts but at 18/1 he's too short for me for a man so out of sorts.

He is a cnut of the first degree.
Fleetwood looks psyched. 1st man to arrive and register.
Should be a great event - as mentioned above I don't recall the last time so many of the biggest names arrived all bubbling nicely on the form front.
Taking a Punt on Rickie and Rory
Picked up Adam Scott in our pool. Not disgusted by that pick and he is rolling a new putter built and designed by a friend of mine. Ugly as sin, but a very unique putter concept. Scott has never lost his ball striking - it's the broom that he has always had a tough time with.
Implementing the usual SCUD, sorry Rory
Rory 6/1;
Fitzpatrick90/1;
Oosthuizen 30/1;
Molinari 18/1.
Lowry hole in one at second in par 3 competition ✌️

Tiger flying now. Bollix to the delay

If Poulter wins it after Reed last year I'm officially done with following the Masters.

For once, it wasn't really his putting that let him down; made a few good clutch putts and was unlucky with a few. What happened when his ball ended up in the cart at 15? Did he get a free drop?

Was wondering that about 15 as well. It showes the drive into cart. Then a pitch out go fairway..shit to 10 feet and the outt but down as a 5 on scorecard. I checked the track player option on.the masters sute (class feature as a side note) but couldn't really figure out from it where the penalty shot occured.
In for a fantastic weekend though with about 15players in with a great shout and a leaderboard packed with quality. I would say rory chance gone for this year..he may well shoot a low one tomorrow but too many.high quality playere ahead off him..you would think 12 or 13 under will be leading come end of round 3 so even shooting a 65 which would be equal low round of the week would be 6 back with 18 to play and he also hasn't looked like shooting near a 65.
Disappointing for Shane as well to miss the cut..form has been poor though since the win in Jan.
Some very good scoring today

Looked full of joy at end.
Just shows the golfers he destroyed all those years ago weren't as bad as made out.
This is considered a bit of a golden generation with Spieth/Koepka/Rose/McIlroy/Thomas etc. And he's beaten them as well even though many said he wouldn't be able to win again!
Loved seeing Tiger roll back the years today.
Same as that. Amazing performance
Loved it. used to hate seeing Tiger short odds for every tournament. Some of the shots he made over the 4 days was great to see
I'm a big golf fan but yesterday's final day is being overhyped a lot. No doubt it's a fairytale with Tiger winning but at the end of the day he only shot 2 under on the final day-it was hardly legendary stuff. He had more than his fair share of luck over the last 2 days in particular.
Tiger held it together when everyone else was dropping shots all around him and I thought Faldo described it perfectly on the us commentary , to hold the nerve so well at the age of 43 when he hadn't won a major in 11 years was unbelievable and from where he has been physically and personally it's a win for the ages and even though I'm not his biggest fan I was happy to see him get a win that may even be better than Nicklaus in 86
Fantastic Majors overall and cant remember a Sunday in any big tournament that had so many in contention on the back nine.
Molinari looked nervous/worried all day Sunday but had to feel for him on the 2 water shots.
Cantlay made a burst but when he got in front his game went to bits.
Woods deserved it because he made less mistakes on the final day
Great win for Tiger. He played the best golf and had the biggest cajonies.
Also Sunday afternoon Golf is brilliant. Wish there was more of it.

He's a far better golfer than Ali was a boxer. Woods, by any metric, is at least second best to Nicklaus. It's debatable if Ali was even best heavyweight.

Who is or was better?
Greatness can't be measured by the number of competitions a golfer has won. There are a few other metrics that should be kept in mind. neither Snead nor Nicklaus had the same number of top class opponents to contend as Woods has at present. All of them, McIlroy, eigh, Molinari etc. are younger, fitter and have not gone through the medical and personal issues that Woods has had to.overcome.
For my money, Woods is in a class of his own.
A great comeback but not best ever. In golf alone surely Ben Hogan. In sport Niki Lauda.
