GAA Discussion / Re: Tyrone v Kerry NFL Round 2
February 15, 2009, 09:48:01 PM
Blah blah blah! Unbelievable that Tyrone supporters won't condemn Ricey for what he did. "Get's in players faces". What kind of a statement is that. What's that got to do with a game of football? Nothing. His constant mouthing and willingness to step over the line is appalling and if he did half the things he does during a match out on the street he'd either be arrested or get a kicking.

What he did today was sexual assault and Galvin would be well within his rights to go to the police about it with the video evidence there for all to see. Disgusting!

As for the game well MH will hardly be too worried about it at this time of the year as he's all about peaking at the right time. Kerry will feel they have a psychological victoy but really both will be safe in the league and everything will be judged on Championship. As said on Sunday Sport, there wouldn't be the same space available during a cship game.

GAA Open Door to Heineken Semi at Croker

The Central Council of the GAA has agreed to a request to allow a potential Munster v Leinster Heineken Cup semi-final to be played in Croke Park.

The decision was reached at a meeting of the council in Thurles this afternoon.

Both sides would need to win their respective quarter-finals for the clash of the top two provinces to come about on the weekend of 2/3 May. Munster are to face Welsh side the Ospreys, while Leinster have Harlequins to overcome if they are to reach the last four of European rugby's top club competition.

The request was made by the IRFU, and the decision also allows for a potential Munster v Harlequins clash to take place at GAA Headquarters.

Both the IRFU and the ERC have welcomed the decision and expressed their gratitude to the GAA.

Philip Browne, IRFU chief executive said: 'I would like to thank GAA President Nicky Brennan and the GAA Central Council for today's decision as it allows us to work towards confirming the venues for the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup.

'The prospect of either Munster playing in the stadium or the possibility of another all-Ireland semi-final between Munster and Leinster is an exciting one for Irish rugby fans.'

ERC chairman Jean-Pierre Lux was similarly pleased by the development.

'On behalf of the Board of ERC, I would like to thank GAA President Nicky Brennan and the wider association for making their magnificent stadium available to the Heineken Cup for these potential semi-final fixtures,' he said.

'Should a semi-final in Ireland arise, Croke Park would certainly serve as a fantastic backdrop for this showpiece European semi-final,' Lux added.

What do people reckon? I think it's fair enough that should it happen the match should be in Ireland in the best available staium. It would be a fantastic occasion probably better than the one in Lansdowne a few years ago. Would hope for a Leinster victory over the turnips cos I'm sick listening to them!

Wow! Big performance from us today. We have a real system of play now where different players can fill different positions without disrupting the game.

Some great football played at times but Westmeath were poor with only their big midfielder being able to take credit for his performance.

For Derry McGoldrick was awesome at CHB. Definitely worth keeping there. Brown and Bradley good up front and Lynn good too. Defence very solid with Diver and Kielt having off days. Hopefully safe now we can go full steam ahead for cship now... Can't wait!!

Had quite a few:

Broken wrist
Numerous broken fingers
Broken Rib
Numerous Sprained Ankles
Sprained Medial Ligament
Lower back problems
Torn Calf Muscle
Knocked out 2/3 times
8 Stitches just above my eye
Torn Cruciate Ligament (Had the op 6 months ago and on the way back now)

None of my injuries have kept me out for any serious amount of time except the Cruciate. Wrist was a 6 week job at the start of the season and my medial ligament injury happened last game of the season and needed 3 months reast so was lucky enough.

Cruciate was a nightmare. Happened 3rd game of the league and during our most successful year in a long time. Had to wait 3 months for op and then 6 months after that until I can play and resume contact training. Seeing the surgeon on Monday week so fingers crossed!

Dear god lads did anyone read that pile of drivel in this morning's paper? I think the man's away with the fairies. John Morrison only with superior tactical knowledge.

Ancient Indian quotes and a Buddhist parable? I don't think our Priest would be out of place using that article word for word in his Sermon on Sunday!

I've a couple of clinkers...

"Jesus lads, I've a horn on me that'd bate a donkey out of a quarry"

"She's seen more japs eyes than a Mazda Rearview mirror"

"If I fell into a barrell of boobs I'd still come out sucking my thumb!"

"It's colder than a witches titty in here"

Okies so reading on here i totally dont get the obsession with neighbours so many of you have. I propose setting up a Home and Away one. Best soap on tv. Loveeeeeee it.

Was that subliminal? Isn't there a village in neighbours called Okie??? Hmmmm

Twas the birthplace of the the great Drew Kirk RIP. A legend in every sense of the word! Trying to compare H*** *** A*** with Neighbours is like comparing a bottle of Cristal with a Lambrusco... a fine champagne with a wino's drink.

Shame on you Tyronegirl!

I would have used my own message allowance before and it never usualy cost me.

Started to use that Teamer yoke and it seems to be fine so far. They also give you your own website address to access notices and updates for the team. Going to use it more often I think.

I'll have a stab. Is it just the 15 best footballers or do we need to do positions? 15 best footballers from what I've heard and seen...

Jim McKeever
Sean O'Connell
Paddy Bradley
Anthony Tohill
Tony Scullion
Dermot McNicholl
Kieran McKeever
Gerry McElhinney
Fergal Doherty
Sean Marty Lockhart
Joe Brolly
Henry Downey
Brian McGilligan
Joe Irwin
Frank Niblock

For a poll like this I am still fairly young to be judging our greatest ever but I have been reliably informed about O'Connell, Irwin, Niblock, McElhinney and McKeever that they deserve inclusion. Maybe younger players like Doherty/Lockhart could be swapped for some of the Gribbin's or maybe someone else I've missed out on but in my mind Doherty is the best Midfielder around at the minute (Bar none!) and Lockhart has been outstanding for well over 10 years at this stage.

Maybe some of the elder statesmen of Derry could put up a better list as I'm sure I haven't enough Ballinderry/Bellaghy/Lavey men on the team.
