General discussion / Re: Things that make you go What the F**k?

Here's Jamie Bryson, an unelected spokesperson for loyalists

Significant rumours that Victoria Park in East Belfast is to used to have a GAA pitch to be imposed upon the community.

This is an outrageous proposal & entirely unwelcome. The vast majority of the local community do not want the toxic GAA imposed within unionist areas.

As I understand it, the work on imposing an unwanted GAA pitch on the Sydenham (East Belfast) community will now not go forward after political intervention. It was always an outrageous proposal by an out of control nationalist run council.

So what do all you GAA Boarders from the 26 counties think of this?  Is it okay? Should nationalists just be thankful for being allowed to exist?

If Gerry Kelly is highlighting it it’s unlikely to be republicans.

The poor mother needs closure.

I'm still struggling with why we still have to use informants and if we are why are they being protected when they have been involved in a murder? So it begs the question why would the PSNI put themselves through this as it will be uncovered

Did you watch Starsky & Hutch (aka Car keys & Clutch)? They had Huggy Bear.

Informants have been used by the authoritys for a very long time, and I don't see it stopping soon. We all know that the UDA and UVF are very active with drug dealing etc etc and are prone to shooting each other. So I guess the police want to find out what is happening in the loyalist communities.

Lads what's going on here? This whole thing is mental. Maybe some Belfast posters can shed some light on this. Is the rumours that loyalists killed Noah?? Or is it a botch job by the PSNI?? I just don't know why they want to bury information on it

My assumption is that he was killed by a loyalist who already had police protection. I doubt if anyone outside a small circle of police handlers and the loyalist know the truth. Otherwise Noah's mother would have found out by now.

Like Adams and McGuinness, Trimble could only have moved unionism from within and by being fairly staunch with it. The DUP and especially Donaldson and Foster stole his clothes (having stabbed him in the back).

Trimble wouldn't have moved an inch if it hadn't of been for the loyalist cover afforded by the very strong support of David Ervine who knew then as now that the working class unionist communities were playthings for big house unionism.

That is a good point.

Trimble was a bitter little man. He only followed the path of peace when he was led by Hume, Adams, Blair, money and the promise of a seat in the Lords. John Hume donated his Nobel Peace Prize money to charity. Trimble spent his on himelf. Trimble the traitor (as he was known to the DUP) also triggered the demise of the UUP who never wanted to compromise to catholics in the north.

But I am sure Daphne will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Darren beats Paddy to win the senior open

I thought Paddy's double on the ninth had ruled him out but he came back very strong. Great final two putts by the big Tyrone man.

Trying to find the name of a song that I heard in a video clip from a friend at a pub, and it has my head wrecked. It contains the line “like a burning lump of coal” .. I think. And the prions line finishes with the word ‘sleeper/sleepers’ or something similar. It’s pretty hard to make out the other lyrics but its being played by a gutsiest and I’ve definitely heard it before over the years. Any help appreciated  :D

Next to impossible to decipher your post but the middle verse of Fisherman's Blues has the lines "...the beating of the sleepers, the burning of the coal".

Done live a lot with just the guitar, vocal and a fiddle. Phenomenal song.

That's the 2020's for you, lol

McGinley an odious individual. Can't hide his hate for Rory! Clown
Really? Is there a bad history between them or something? I like Mcginley. Met him once going into a match in Croke Park and he stood for pictures with my kid and was very nice.

No, Walter is completely wrong on that one.

Harrington still the only man from this island to win The Open twice.

That’s great… still well behind Rory as the best Irish player

Don't worry about this lad. I've never had to bar anyone on social media til this fella. He has stalked me on all platforms. Clue: Laois, Liverpool, running, bit thick.

Rory has been around quite a while now, but just look at how many have come and gone while Rory is still up there? Dustin, Brooks, De Chambow have hd spells at the top but all fade while Rory is still up there.
