Brees out for 6 weeks,

What do ye make of the Dolphins this year and the tanking for #1 pick? We have traded for Tunsil, stills, wake, Suh etc... for loads of picks next 2 years and opened up salary cap space. Looks like Minkah Fitzpatrick going to be traded this week for a 1st round aswell.

This season is a write off but just wondering if ye think we are rebuilding the right way.

Awful stuff from the Dolphins. No doubt a rebuild was needed but the extent they are going is unbelievable!! No guarantee draft picks going to work out, and no point drafting Tua without an o line or receiver to throw it to!! Mad stuff!

Rivers has been terrible - yes he's been under unreal pressure but hasn't looked to get the ball into the flat at anytime to Gordon and has been crying at the officials since 1st qrtr

Pats have been worryingly good tho!!

Think it's too much to say ND was out of its depth - the 3 TDs in the 2nd qrtr were all when Love was out of the game, plus thought the reversal of the Clemson fumble going ob was very close, don't think the nose of the ball touched the white line

Clemson still the better team but ND deserved their place in the playoff

The first punch on camera was the punch that started it imo. Not that it matters as county board will throw the book at both teams. Strabane are out anyway so it's us that will be penalised most now.

Hopefully the county board does throw the book at both teams. This shite boils my piss and happens way too often. Always too many people on the field, subs in, waterboys in, managers in, backroom staff in. Joke.

Completely agree with this - too much of a regular occurrence these days

Was up at the match and this had been brewing for 10mins - rather than focusing on closing the game out Strabane seemed intent on starting a row. The ref had no chance to control - he should have abandoned it and both teams thrown out

Joe mcquillan was a complete joke today. Never seen a more 1 sided display  in my life. Even the commentators asked how Donegal got a free at the end when colm was fouled.

Are you on the fuckin' windup?

First post and all!

Yes 1st post.....it happens when you post for the 1st time.

Mcquillian didn't black card McHugh which means Donegal wouldn't have scored the goal. He missed at least 1 if not 2 double hops which lead to scores. Last Donegal attach saw colm cavget fouled even commentators said it was a free out, mcquillian gave a free in. Please tell me what I have gotten wrong?

Your use of the English language?

Div 1 seems to be incredibly competitive this year - bottom 9 teams separated by 3 points!

Hard to predict who will go down

Big drive at start of half - if jags can get something on the board, even a fg, would keep the momentum goingc

Agree with your points about the selection committee - ultimately their job is to select the 4 best teams in the country - how they tend to try justify this is beyond comprehension at times!!

As for college vs the pros - I tend to enjoy both as their own individual sports. College is great and agree with the point around tradition and the unpredictability of it. The regular season is fantastic however for me the whole bowl season is a bit of a nonsense!! Apart from the 4 team playoff, only the odd bowl game that is watchable - that means in a competition with 129 teams - only 4 have a proper postseason!

Well, the Army-Navy game apart, we've reached the end of the College Football Regular Season. Hard to believe. Next weekend is a brilliant weekend as well, with the Conference Championships, and there's still quite a lot of pulling and shoving that can happen. The Conference state of play is as follows....

SEC Conference Championship Game - Atlanta - 9pm Saturday Irish Time
Auburn 10-2  v Georgia 11-1.

ACC Conference Championship Game - Charlotte 1am Saturday Night/Sunday Morning Irish Time
Clemson 11-1 v Miami 10-1

Big 10 Championship Game - Indianapolis 1am Saturday Night/Sunday Morning Irish Time
Ohio State 10-2 v Wisconsin 12-0

Pac 12 Championship Game - Santa Clara - Thursday Night/Friday Morning 1am Irish Time
Stanford 9-3 v USC 10-2

Big XII Championship Game - Jerry World - 5.30pm Saturday Irish Time
Oklahoma 11-1 v TCU 10-2

The Playoff Spots are still up for grabs and the potential for carnage exists if results go the wrong way. It's not inconceivable that 4 of power 5 conferences might have 2 loss (or worse!) conference champions if TCU, Ohio State and Auburn win. The ACC Champion will have 1 loss, and will be in. The SEC Champion will be in, regardless of Auburn's two losses to date, as to be honest they looked like a #1 team against both Georgia and Alabama. Both those games were in Jordan Hare though, so it will be interesting to see the rematch in Atlanta this weekend. After that though, it's up for grabs. If Oklahoma wins, they are in. If TCU wins, then it gets messy. Stanford or USC are both out anyway you would have think. The Big 10 is very interesting too. If Wisconsin wins, I cannot see them being left out. Undefeated Power 5 Conference Champion, even with a less than impressive schedule, has to be in surely. However, if Ohio State wins, then the cat will be among the pigeons. The elephant in the room (pun intended) is a 1 loss Alabama. Auburn made them look ordinary on Saturday, but will the committee take the injuries into consideration if they end up comparing them versus a 2 loss Ohio State for example?

If it were me, knowing the guideline about Conference Champions being a key differentiator barring an obvious disparity (which ironically the Committee used in Ohio State's favour last year) I think I would go ACC Champion, SEC Champion, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
If Oklahoma Lose I would go ACC, SEC, Alabama, Wisconsin
If Wisconsin Lose I would go ACC, SEC, Oklahoma, Ohio State
If both Wisconsin and Oklahoma Lose I would go ACC, SEC, Alabama, Ohio State

The smaller conference championship games are
AAC Championship Game - Orlando - 5pm Saturday Irish Time
Memphis 10-1 v UCF 11-0

Conference USA Championship Game - Boca Raton - 5pm Saturday Irish Time
FAU 9-3 v North Texas 9-3

MAC Championship Game - Detroit - 5pm Saturday Irish Time
Akron 7-5 v Toledo 10-2

Mountain West Championship Game - Boise 12.30am Saturday Night/Sunday Morning Irish Time
Boise State 9-3 v Fresno State 9-3

Sun Belt Champiopnship Game - Arkansas 12.30am Saturday Night/Sunday Morning Irish Time
Troy 9-2 v Arkansas State 7-3

Think this year will really put the Playoff Committee concept to the test. If any of Oklahama, Wisconsin or Clemson doesn't win then chaos will ensue and if the committee's early season rankings were anything to go by, anything could happen!!!

Better than the BCS system - I'm not convinced but does give fantastic entertainment!!

Sadly can't see anyone but froome - nothing personal against froome - just the way he rides and fact he has by far the best team around him!! With 40k time trial all froome has to do is not lose time in the mountains!!

Contador not strong enough anymore, nibali is but hasn't the team around him!!

I thought Donal óg was decent on match analysis today, streets ahead of the shite we get for the football
Have to agree - he was on the ball calling out the football coverage from the 00s. Loughnane and Shefflin were fairly on the back foot.

The vultures are circling throughout the land with the smell of blood lingering from Jones road. They want Dublin beaten, they don't want Dublin to do 3 in a row, it will be bad for the game they say, we cannot let this happen they say. This thought process will filter through to every fan, every Croke park official  and every officiating team, give them nothing will be the cry. The greatest team of all time who have shown certain counties how to play the game in the right way, the beautiful total football displayed time and time again, the humility of the management and players, the gentlemen like approach to media and fans, the volunteer work they do not highlighted in the media, whether it be feeding the homeless around Dublin City centre or the hours and hours of visiting kids at camps, mini-leagues, hospitals.

The players get vilified at every chance, one of the greatest players for club and county to play the game was witch hunted for a suspension. A conspiracy that will come to light in later years, the masses celebrated for 4 nights and 4 days, they sneered and cheered. They also sneer at their manager,  the most astute, down to earth, calm, gentlemen, with a great mind, who serviced his country through his career in the armed services and who served his county as a player, coach and management. They sneer at him, why, is it jealousy, is it that they so want to be like him, his loyalty to his players, his county?

The GAA and all officials knows what's at stake here, they won't state it publicly but its in their thought process, Do every to help the opposition against Dublin. The Media know it too. The media hate Dublin, hate that the players won't talk to certain journalist, hate writing the same pieces every September.

Now at the semi-final stage, playing good opposition, but not better, it is a general feeling in the capital that the only way Dublin will be beaten is bad officiating in whatever form that may take, a non-red card, a last minute free against or opposition cheating like diving of the opposition, sledging by the opposition, some old traits to come out from a time long past. The world and its mother hoping Dublin are beaten so they can sneer and cheer and write abusive comments on social media and GAA forums.

You may not get that chance and it will be a case of who's laughing now.

Kind regards

The Greatest

Great post - finally an effective cure for insomnia!!!
