GAA Discussion / Re: McKenna Cup 2013 Power NI

Im from Tyrone and i cannot stand beside a lot of Tyrone supporters! You will find though that they are generally people who have never played the game, dont have any affiliation to clubs, dont do anything for the GAA in general apart from pay club membership (in order to have a chance of a ticket if Tyrone get to all ireland!!). In short they dont understand the GAA so they behave like soccer supporters as that is what they see on tv!!!

Does anyone have any insight into when the powers that be are planning to start the club leagues this year? Have there been any meetings on the issue? Is the championship going to be held back like in previous 2 years?

GAA Discussion / Re: Exprimental Football Rules
December 13, 2012, 04:32:41 PM
In my opinion there is not much wrong with the game or the rules at the moment, the problem is with the refereeing.
Now first of all i will state categorically that AT PRESENT i would not be a referee. That is because there is absolutely no incentive to do so and in my opinion you have to be half mad to fill this role.
In order to raise the standard of referees their match fees should be at a level that would attract highly suitable people (e.g. football intelligent ex players).
What do i mean by a fee level? Commensurate to the under the county payments club and county management teams get.
Referees should learn their trade at youth level say at £30 per game. Then £50 for reserve games and £70 for a senior game. If you are good enough to referee at county level this should move to £200 for a National League game and £500 for a championship match.
For anyone who says this is not affordable to clubs, I would say it could be negotiated along with affiliation fees/takings at club championship games/county games.

Mickey Harte is starting to sound a bit like Benitez. On Mulligan he said "sometimes a player's form comes back to a very good level. Everyting is possible."  8)

The Kildress v Dromore game is next week but everyone knows that Kildress will get the points. (not blaming Dromore - the county boards punishment is coming back to haunt them).

On another note what would happen if the Tyrone championship was played as in Donegal. For example Errigal v Carrickmore, first game at Errigal, second in Carmen with a third meeting at a neutral venue............the winners would be in some state for the next round!!!!!!!  8)

There will be a LOT of strange results over the next couple of weeks:

Ardboe v Eglish - Eglish to get points
Clonoe v Killyclogher - Killyclogher to get points
Errigle v Edendork - Edendork to get points
Kildress v Dromore - Kildress to get points
Galbally v Moy - Galbally to get points (Moy dont want promotion)
Gortin v Aghyaran - draw!

Two games in Pomeroy yesetrday were poor - Cookstown won handy enough and Carrickmore brought their dark arts to another level, will they get away with their antics again? Agree with poster who couldnt believe Pete Harte got sent off, the lad tooks some abuse and got yellow carded for being fouled!!!! Same thing happened Rock lad in first game, he got took out of the play and ended up getting a second yellow!!!! Refs actually rewarding cynical play instead of trying to stamp it out???? Tyrone football is very poor at the moment, very few (if any) good forwards about.

The boys at the top had to wait to see when the minors were playing and then fit the poor old clubs around them. Sure clubs just lie back and take whatever is thrown at them! Saturday afternoon Moortown travel to Carrickmore, Eglish to Omagh, Edendork to Dromore, Derrylaughan to Greencastle, Ardboe to Trillick, Kileeshil to Aghyaran, Strabane to Derrytresk, Gortin to Rock. How many people will have to take a day off work? They are only good for making them money in the club championship so that the minors can push for another useless All Ireland, playing havoc with minor, under 21, reserve and senior club football in the process. Not even allowed to play THEIR players half the time, or have them at training.........Is it any wonder the county team is getting hammered every year now, where do they think the players come from in the first place? Any chance of anybody standing up for club football?????????????????????

I dont think IMMIGRATION has been a problem - unless its because the foreigners are taking all our jobs :)........
Fairly low key start to league, think there are going to be BIG problems for the GAA in the foreseeable future with lots of clubs going under due to lack of numbers/interest...........

Why dont county teams try and play like Cross instead of defensive shite?
#794
Well Garrycastle, if you want to give it.........you have to take it!

Listen i know this might sound a bit obvious and too straight forward for the powers that be, but why do they not just say that the leagues start on 15th April...............
