One goes down to intermediate championship?

I genuinely can't believe the Derry County Board are even considering this -  surely they had  moved passed him & if Ciaran Meenagh wasn't in a capacity to continue then after the year Derry have had they've moved into a totally different bracket to attract top men.

Lads I recall being at a meeting on behalf of my club at the time of the Games development strategy and divisional teams were very strongly part of it, whatever happened to it? It was promoted by the County Board, they haven't followed through on it.  I thought it was a excellent idea. Surely getting divisional teams into the senior league for a start and have their games on Wednesdays to allow junior and intermediate teams to play away in their own club league at weekends is a sensibly starting point. Its a decent pathway for developing and exposing players to a higher standard of football?

You want lads to train with their clubs twice a week & play a senior divisional game midweek and a junior / intermediate game at the weekend, along with two competing managers & the fixtures headache that would bring - a complete non runner.

The harsh reality of the situation is the vast majority of players who will play for Derry over the next decade will come through the development squad route, if that exceptional junior player or intermediate player is to progress it will through an environment within the county setup their already part of, as opposed to any divisional team playing league football against senior clubs (midweek) who are still playing without their county players for the best part of the league season. The systems within the county are clearly now in place to do that

If it's been confirmed there's no case to answer by the police - what's the issue here? Surely a private matter between his family which appears complicated at the very least but nonetheless private.

The S*n will hopefully end up being the big losers out of all of this.

Would picking 'weaker' players instead of 'stronger' players not lead to disillusionment amongst the latter.

I know from personal experience that losing more talented players is at least as common as losing less talented people.

I've known people who were taken off in an U16 match who never kicked a ball again. I know players who are togging out for 20 years and who wouldn't start a game more than once a year. 

All of these things have f all squared to do with whether games are competitive at U12. As usual the GAA are making decisions on the hoof, on the scantiest of anecdotal evidence by the looks of things, and without a single thought as to what the detrimental effects could be.

Its like the shitshow that moving to U17s proved to be.

going through his facebook, she hadn't liked anything he has posted except for his most recent post, changing his profile pic on 4th December. He posts semi-regularly on there and she hadn't liked any posts apart from this. Would say to me that they had only recently became friends. On that platfrom anyway

agree with a lot of this, but everyone associated with the team is under the cosh now, personally i think it should get really ruthless now and would cull a few lads (up to 8 lads) a few big hitters and men milling about the squad but not making an impact - as they didn't look fit, organised and the worst of all motivated, they look to be a group of lads cording themselves that they are motivated and doing the work but when the heat comes on they fold. Reset in culture needed quickly

You say they don't look fit - they're not carrying weight, does their sharpness then come back to the S&C of Peter Donnelly? The same Peter Donnelly who had them in the shape to win an all Ireland 2 years ago - it's a funny old game.

Kilmacaud have more scoring forwards. I imagine that there is probably a chance mannion could play some part too.

I think glen have a better manager and may set up better but I am not convinced there's enough scores in them when the likes of Walsh is at the other end. Hope I am wrong.

Dias in midfield is a great player for kilmacaud. Glen still are probably stronger there but kilmacaud no slouches there either.

Yes Dias is a super player. I could never understand why he was substituted against Kilcoo last year. Foolish move.
     I worry about Glen in the final. Kilmacud have scoring threats all over the pitch and a much better bench. The only thing that I can see beating Kilmacud is a management brain fart as happened last year.
     Glen need Glass pushing up and getting/setting up scores to have any chance. They're playing him as a defensive midfielder anchor and that needs to change. It's just a pity McFaul is out. His presence last year allowed Glass  much more leeway going forward. Really noticeable this year.

Conor Glass for his part with Derry & Glen always starts deep & i'm open to correction but has scored in each round of the championship to date?

How could I be negative....Cargin county champs again and 4th rated team in Ulster.
No retirements announced and a strong panel to start again 2023 with a lot of young guns seeking senior berths gonna be hard to dislodge...
