Quote from: bennydorano on November 27, 2023, 11:10:10 AMAre there any companies that specialise in adding youngsters to car insurance? Asking in hope more than expectation, realise there's a robbing heading my way.
Got the eldest lads renewal quote today. Up from 1550 to 2150 if pay in one hit or a cool 2450 by monthly direct debit  :'(. That's with Hughes. The sister in law got a decent quote from Admiral for her daughter so will be giving them a ring this week.

Almost £2.5k by DD.

That's serious. A con if there's ever been one.

Imagine have a few kids around that age.  It's be £5k before a key's put in the ignition.

My daughters in Liverpool and I thought it would be easier to just take her off the insurance. Put her on it when she's home, actually it's more expensive, so I've left her on it, which will help her when she gets her own, hopefully soon lol!

This is why words are so important, it's sometimes best to say nothing or say less.

Mary Lou isn't responsible for the EU policy nor for asylum rules within the EU, she's not responsible for the attack at the school or the murder of that young girl.

But you can't start stoking fires and look for political gains when things are going to shit.

Every country is having to deal with this problem, building walls, protesting, rioting and allowing the far right (Holland) to gain traction.

A real think tank between the parties needs to be done, what's the best approach?

If the Aussie one works then look at it, if it can be tweaked then look at it.

Putting people to work will grow the economy, it will build public buildings required to sustain a growing population, anyone that thinks Ireland should be just Irish is as bad as the DUP who think the north is still a Protestant state.

Sensible ideas won't make you a racist btw, but some are clearly racist.

Oh I'm so glad I played in the times I played...

That said as I got older I remember chasing a league title and I got wind of lads that were still well oiled, we lost by a point and needed to win another game for the title, I let rip in changing rooms, they give me the collective "aye dead on" of course who am I to give off about being worse for wear the next day.

Championship was/is and I'd say for every club different. Wouldn't be too many that would let themselves down in prep for that game!

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on November 24, 2023, 10:37:04 PMIs Mary Lou and SF taking potshots at how the Garda (in her words) failed to prevent that riot?

Christ the night

Not sure what her words were or what you say they were but good debate this evening on Harris and Mc Entee.

A good few political parties and people in general asking questions about the gardaí.  According to reports there was widespread info. that a gathering was going to take place and the guards were late to the party, so to speak.

This was going to kick off sometime soon and the gardaí are under-resourced and don't have the manpower.  There have been a few incidents in DCC recently - tourists getting battered etc. and Mc Entee spoofing that Dublin City Centre is safe.

This is a legacy issue going back a good few years but is part of the problem also.

The court system needs to change fast to tighten things up also and hopefully this will be the spark to get things back on the level.

So the stabbing of the children and adults created a crazy mob to come out and the Garda were at fault for not having enough police officers available (could have been for multiple reasons, under resourced or short staffed)  ah f**k it let's blame the peelers for not being on duty or close by or stay on longer for their shift to sort out a bunch of mindless whores.

If there are cutbacks then that's on the government

Let's blame the scumbags that did it, reserve any blame for them, it's like blaming a rape victim for wearing a short skirt

Who's blaming the rank and file Gardaí?

As usual, you're adding up 2 and 2 and getting 5....in order to gain anti-SF retoric traction.

It's a debate around Harris and Mc Entee.  This can be clearly seen from the 3 or 4 posts, posted by others, after my initial comment.

GDA members have no confidence in Harris. As a matter of fact, they voted a vote of no confidence in him a month or so ago.

So where is my anti SF stance? She was giving off about the police reaction..

"The cold truth and the reality that we must confront today is that the Gardaí lost control of the centre of our capital city. A mob was allowed to shut down the centre of the city.  Public transport locked down. People stranded in the city.

This was an unacceptable, unprecedented collapse in policing.."
A few of my friends from the Leinster area have been joking (with a jag) that they would not go into Dublin at night because it is unsafe and under policed. They were not really joking though. I'd say the government more than Harris has to step up. Same up here with the PSNI. Easy to defund policing as opposed to other public sector areas.

Just raise the taxes (considering how good the economy is in the south) and that'll pay for extra police.

I suspect attention on Harris is completely for one reason, anyone thinks any different is fooling themselves

Quote from: Cunny Funt on November 26, 2023, 06:33:31 PMImpressive 3-0 away result against a side fired up to win after they had league points deducted.  United was the better team in the opening 20 minutes and 2nd half. 18 year old Kobbie Mainoo looked good especially in the 15 minute period that Everton was on top and produced a fine goal line clearance.  Garnacho's goal up there with the best overhead goals scored but Neville giving him MOTM over Mainoo?  Penalty was the correct call and was suprise that Bruno gave the ball to out of form Rashford to take it. (has since said in the after match interview that he wanted to lift Rasford confidence with a goal)

How is it whenever Man United win a game you always need to make it out to be way more impressive than it actually is.
Last week you made the win over Luton to sound like it was some sort of giant killing because Luton had drew with Liverpool the week before, now it's impressive beating Everton because apparently the players were fired up  ;D

Fantastic first goal alright, will be hard to top that this season. Was probably a penalty the way the game is nowadays but it was also a dive, it can be both these days.

The trip was as obvious as your dislike for Utd. Young caught him, simple. Ref got it wrong and VAR corrected him.

Utd have been brutal this year and any win is impressive

is that the purpose of this board to enrich and improve people lives?

I read the board for years, basically it a source of info. you might not otherwise find else or opinions of others you might not find elsewhere.

It's always been for some a soapbox, help with problems, a source of information, a bitta craic, insightful, the odd friendship, inside info on all things GAA, and of course the bitter battles on all thing's political.

You won't say certain things here to someone's face or have that conversation with a work colleague, so it escalates.. a time out now and then can help

There are lads on here I'd say from before they were married to being in the house on their own while their kids have flown the nest.
Most probably the kids along with the mother :D

No such luck lol

This is pure shite! You need to set standards and create goals and what's the plans for the years, expectations and do on, no drinking? Wise up, no holidays unless sanctioned by management? More bollocks no playing other sports? Holy f**k!

I'm as passionate as the next manager and expect the players to put in the same effort as I'd expect them to do, but this is not a professional sport.

We need to trust the players

They've been to Croke park and unlucky not to win in their first attempt...

You said they have average footballing ability..

All the other stuff about going to games is no different to me watching them play on telly or Corrigan

Proof that most referees read the narrative and prejudge!

You've just played it out online for us all to see.  Glen have looked no better than anyone else in ulster this term. But you're going on reputation, and history!

Glen have no history, they've won Derry twice, I'm going on they are unbeaten in Ulster these last couple of years.. they are better because they have won their games. That's simple facts.

Your reference to ref's is at best, childish

They have just completed 3 Derry championships in a row not 2

Yes, my mistake, average footballers in Derry though ;D

Haven't worked out if you're deliberately misquoting me yet or you actually can't interpret what I said wee man.

Good game today, some effort from Trillick despite missing someone of Mattie Donnelly's quality, much to be admired.  I'm not sure Scotstown have the mobility to beat Glen (FYI MR2 see what I said earlier about runners).  I thought the ref was good today also, good job you weren't stuck in the middle today MR2.

These are your quotes on Glen

Maybe Glen just are not as good a team as everyone makes out??

A team of runners with average football ability.

I simply don't belive Glen are the team they are hyped to be

There's no extra gear in Glen

Rangers got a penalty? Surely you must be joking

Mate put a tenner on next score a penalty.. £10 on a 9/1 lol
1/9 would have been more accurate odds

 ;D

Never watched it, was it a penalty though?
