GAA Discussion / Re: NFL Division 1 2025

Dessie Farrell

"We've gone through a fairly extensive trialling process for club players over the last couple of months," "We got a development squad up and running then to allow players additional time for further assessment and obviously then we made decisions around who we are bringing into this year's panel.
"We have 16 new players in total so it's an interesting time for them. It's great to see new faces and plenty of energy around the place as well. There's some exciting prospects and we hope to use the league campaign this year to give them plenty of exposure and experience and to build towards the Championship."

Farrell confirmed that defender David Byrne is back on the panel after a year out while former hurling full-back Eoghan O'Donnell has switched to the footballers for the second time in his career.

"It's great to have those two lads, plenty of experience there and they're obviously very experienced and dedicated and know what it's about at this level," said Farrell. "We have James Madden of course from the AFL who has joined us this year. He's moved back home. Again, it's a very different sport for him and he's taking his time to get used to it but he's enjoying his time and we're enjoying working with him."
On the new rules, Farrell said the GAA has been 'bold and brave' by trying to introduce so many changes at the one time.
"I'm all for it, I have to say," said the 2020 and 2023 All-Ireland winning manager. "Our players are definitely enjoying it. It's still very much a learning process. We don't have that much data to go on, a couple of challenge games, but they're still slightly different to real competition."

MTU Kerry 2-6
MTU Cork 0-6

Kerry looking the better outfit, was close enough throughout but Kerry got the 2 goals shortly before half-time to put themselves in the box seat. Cork were down a man to a black card when Kerry got both goals.

Another enjoyable live streamed game 4-11 to 2-10 to Kerry it finished.

Elsewhere UL 3-8 Uni Of Galway 0-14 and DCU 3-14 ATU Sligo 0-10 two results.

The latest speculation with journalists Is that Ruben Amorim unleashed a rage in the dressing room after the Brighton defeat including damaging a big screen television.

Posted by Sky Sports. Worth taking into account the other players are on teams that have many attacking talents that create many chances per game compared to United. Garnacho had recent goal involvements against the best two in England Liverpool, Arsenal.

If he was a troublesome player I can imagine he'd be getting the same treatment as Rashford is getting under Amorim. I see the media are now suggesting Rashford is training away hard in the background in the hope of making the match day squad again.

Clock-hooter will only apply to Division 1 football games this weekend. Not a good look regardless of reasons given.

Quote from: johnnycool on January 21, 2025, 08:02:57 AMMaybe he got re-elected because Biden and the Democrats didn't do enough for the average Joe who was hit by inflation and didn't see the quality of their life improve.
No one gives a fúck for growth and GDP if it doesn't directly improve upon their every day life.

The same will happen Starmer if he keeps pandering to the Labour right.

Those pardons are straight out of some banana republic, crazy stuff from both Biden and Trump.

Hit by inflation was worldwide issue due to the fall out from the pandemic and after the last four years America are among the best countries for recovery from the high peaks reached after covid.

When voting for him in last Novembers election one of Trump's policy ideas was for big tariffs on Chinese goods, which economists believe could worsen inflation.

Out of interest how would people rate/rank Cuala compared to previous Dublin Senior All Ireland champions over the last 20 years?

2023 - Kilmacud Crokes
2016 - Ballyboden St Enda's
2014 - St Vincents
2009 - Kilmacud Crokes
2008 - St Vincents

Quote from: whitey on January 21, 2025, 02:11:14 AMAnd this is exactly how he got reelected

Non stop outrage about everything

I cant stand him, but this actually kinda makes sense. Flags are put up for the inauguration, then the following day put back at half mast)

He got reelected because of Non stop outrage is straight out of Trump himself or his supporters play book to say.

Proper non stop outrage would have transferred into stopping him for running to be president again never mind getting back in again. Instead a blind eye is turned to what he says and does with little or no action taken while in the background he grows a bigger cult following.

On the flag he's signed it into law meaning people no longer has a option on what they choose to do.  That's Trumps narcissistic behavior at work once more.

Quote from: Blowitupref on January 20, 2025, 10:06:35 PMMusk with the Nazi salute at the Trump's rally.  In one of Trump's first actions as president was to sign an order requiring flags to fly at full-staff on Inauguration Day. They flew at half-staff in honor of the life and legacy of former President Jimmy Carter.  Weird is just one word that that group in power now.

Not that big of a deal

Some of the bluest of blue Democratic Sates already raised them for inauguration day today (and will lower them again tomorrow)

"Not limited to Republican-led states, New York, California, and Colorado will also hoist the flag on Jan. 20 and then will lower the flag the following day."

Might not be that big of a deal if it wasn't one of first actions he made and highlighting once more the type of individual he is.

Quote from: SaffronSports on January 19, 2025, 05:23:20 PMIs this a genuine quote? Saw it on Romano's page. Surely he didn't say that about his own team.

Rúben Amorim: "We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Man United, we have to acknowledge that".

Probably said that after he seen this stat.  "sixth home Premier League defeat of the season, their most from their opening 12 home matches of a league season since 1893-94"

The theatre of dreams for the opposition.
