3 Kids 1 4 5
You're brave
Ours are 6,4 & 3. Targeting 2025 for first trip away with all 3, once the youngest is 4.
I like the idea of a Euro Camp & a day trip to Disney - let us know how you get on

Some people I followed on Instagram did it last year in their campers & then just stayed in the carpark a night at Disney to get 2 days in the park

We went last May - kids 5,3 & 2 had a great time
As above, bring bikes/bike trailers - even if you have a chalet close to the village centre, there's great fun to be had just cycling the grounds
Bike trailer is handy for carrying your bags, and tired kids
We went to baby owls activity & out on the lake on a boat. There were a good few other things our eldest could had done but the other 2 were too young for so we gave them a miss. The pool is great.
There are some activities where you can drop the kids off and go do something yourself - they were all booked up early

Things I'd do differently;
On the day we arrived, we went to the sports bar for lunch & to wait and get our chalet etc - everyone else was doing the same so we waited over an hour for food, it was a bit manic & kids were wondering etc
In hindsight we should have went on to the pool & got pizzas in there as its much quieter on the change over days
On the day we left, we went to the Pancake house for lunch - 5x pancakes €80 :o

We BBQ'd in the evenings & went wondering in the woods to tire the kids out, I'd go again maybe next year when youngest is nearly 4

Great win for killeeshil, looks like they will be too strong for anyone in div 3 so should stay up.

Not many in Division 2 sad to see Tattyreagh go down. Some fall from grace having been in division 1 not so long ago.
were they? :o

Quote from: twohands!!! on October 12, 2023, 01:48:53 PMI wonder what the contingency is if Casement falls through. Northern Ireland is due to get 5 games according to the media. I'd say the likeliest scenario is the the 5 games allocated to Northern Ireland would be split amongst Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. Would seem easiest in terms of logistics/crowds/timing etc.

Plenty of work in the pipeline for Stadium builders....
https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-41220256.html

QuoteRedeveloped in time to be opened for 1996 for the price of £35 million (€62.75 million), the stand has a capacity of approximately 27,000.
I'm pretty sure the new Cusack was there in 1992 for the Tyrone v Derry national league final, although upper tiers not finished
It was defiantly in use for the 1995 final

QuoteAs well as the construction of a second hotel close to GAA HQ on Clonliffe College grounds built by the association, it is anticipated the Cusack Stand will require a facelift in the coming years.
Do the GAA own Conliffe college now?

Yeah I was out with a mate who would cycle a lot. I beat him in the run and the swim well, but he kicked my ass in the cycle. That said we finished on the same time.
I've few easy gains that can be made on the bike. Mine was a 20+ year old bike with normal pedals. Plus I've still not mastered the gears right!!
Would consider looking at 2nd hand bikes. Just wouldn't be willing to blow £1k+ on a bike when it could be a passing fad with me. Any recommendations for what to look for in a 2nd hand? Budget maybe £4-500.

Do the cycle scheme, there's no cap on it anymore (depending on your employer)
Get a mountain bike while you're at it & come to the glens on Tuesday nights during the winter  ;)

On 2nd hand bikes locally; I've noticed that people that buy them new for £500, still want to sell them for £500 2 years later.
brother-in-law sold a few recently for a fair deprecated price on facebook, they were gone in a couple of hours

So.. it's kinda like having covid in the squad & using that as an excuse to put a game back a bit, but the real reason is they need extra time to get a few lads fit?  terrible example to set :-X

Seen a lot of the ones in the Bella Italia group just had to abandon their hire cars at the site last week. No fit state to drive back to the airports.

Would those drivers be hit with a penalty for not returning their hire cars to the airport?
Or would they due compensation because the vehicle became unroadworthy & hire company didn't get them sorted in time (hardly)

The whole thing needs done; Aughnacloy to Derry, but that Omagh to Ballygawley bit should be first IMO.
IIRC, the initial objections that stopped the whole project were habitat/river catchment issues in the Strabane to Derry section? scandalous that that stopped the Omagh to Ballygawley section

As a first stage can we not have a series of the average speed cameras on the road  and ban overtaking on some parts
seems there should be some easy changes to save lives

Not sure if average speed cameras would combat the issue
I don't believe its road users speeding for the majority of their journey along the route - it's people taking risks, e.g overtaking slow moving vehicles, when its unsafe to do so or people joining the road when its not clear (speed possibly a factor there)

General discussion / Re: Is University worth it?

Short answer for a lot (most?) graduates is "No"
Studied Computer Science in UUJ from 2003-2007, thankfully fees were still covered then
Gained a good foundation knowledge to take into the workplace, most of which was gained in placement year to be honest

Great, great times had in the holylands, no doubt about it, but I think we look back on it with rose tinted glasses & talk about the same few great nights
Is it worth the level of debt that students are expected to get into now to complete their degrees? Doubtful. There are other ways to gain those skills & recognised accreditations ( in IT anyway)

Have a niece waiting on A level results, I think her preference is do an apprenticeship with deloitte/pwc.
Sounds sensible to me - still get the living away experience & the professional qualification, with the added benefit of professional experience & a salary

Put a keeper off in sin bin lately. The opposition where giving off that the player who went into nets had to be wearing a keepers top!! This based on Tyrone game on TV the week before..

I explained that they didn't have to wear a keepers top, wearing the keepers top only gives the 'keeper' the rights of a keeper, nothing else. these people giving off are senior div 1 managers
Question: So Petey Harte gained the "rights" of the keeper by wearing the yellow jersey
But did it have his number on it?
Is it ok for a player to wear a number allocated to another player on the Championship team sheet
Not sure whose jersey he took, I guess its similar to a guy put off as a blood sub having to change his jersey?

Does it count if the square (triangle) is mostly grassed?

Redhills, County Cavan
2006 Population = 420

The 1992 film, The Playboys, was filmed on location in the village, as was the 1995 film The Run of the Country

Had a passport disaster at weekend which has required me to fork out €245 for the same day turnaround for an Irish passport renewal. I've my appointment at midday tomorrow, does anyone know roughly how long it takes them to print off new passport?

I had to go to their office in Balbriggan once to lift mine - (had a mix up, they thought i was collecting the next morning in the city centre, but my flight left before it opened)
The woman sent me across the road for a coffee - had it ready in 30mins

(I flew home from Spain the previous week with just a photo of my passport)

I enter the ones on aspirecomps.co.uk from time to time as they list stuff I'd like to win

I know 100% for a fact that one of the sites already mentioned by 2 posters above has raffled machinery that was subject to vat fraud
