Be well cleared up before the real championship game in the play offs

Errigal III will win handy. Think Aghaloo v Eskra is the tighter one to call. I'd go for Aghaloo.

Rebel84

Errigal 3rds win comfortable and Aghaloo lead by 4 at the interval. Aghaloo were awarded a very soft penalty in first half injury time which they converted.

Watching the difference in standard last night between kilyman in the first game and Aghaloo in the second game proves why division 3 needs to be split in two. I heard the commentators mentioning it a couple of times that there is plans to do so for next season. Does anyone know if there will then be 4 championships next season or will the div 3b/4 play in the junior championship?

laceer

It was such an obvious gap. 3a and 3b will both play in junior championship next year.

One of those clubs that had a once in a generation team that managed to get to division 1 and then unfortunately nothing coming behind to sustain that. They are a better team than that drubbing they got last night.

Two huge calls went against them in the first half. Definite penalty not given when their midfielder was dragged down going though on goal. Ref too far behind play gave 13m free. Then the Aghaloo penalty in injury time at the end of the first half. Never ever a penalty. When you hear the Aghaloo supporters laughing at how lucky they were to get it you know it's a horrendous call.

Eskra went in 4 down at half time when in reality could have been in front if given the penalty and converted, or at very least just a point down without the Aghaloo one. Would have been more reflective of the tight first half.

Second half though was a 10-15 min collapse, which Aghaloo punished severely. They're a very good outfit.

Either them or Drumquin for championship.

I thought the ref got those decisions right.
The Aghaloo penalty was soft but you're getting a free for it out the pitch with zero complaints. He was tackled and it wasn't legitimate.

Didn't think the Eskra lad was dragged down. Fouled, resulting in him falling over but not dragged down as per the black card offence. Was outside the box - 13m free correctly given.

When the refs officials say it wasn't a penalty then you know he's got it wrong.

As for the Eskra one, he's pulled down on way through on goal. At that stage I was standing on the 21m line at the back of the stand at that end. Perfect view. Penalty.

Bate by 17 points and still blaming the referee 🤣
Unfortunately for Eskra they can't get an Errigal Ciaran ref every week
Would have been much closer if they did

Aghaloo were very unlucky to get relegated in 2021 over a variety of circumstances. 4 teams going down, Moortown finishing below them but winning the championship and Aghaloo doing their part in winning their game on the final day against Stewartstown only for Killeeshil to beat Aghyaran out of nowhere.
In reality they are probably too strong for Junior and would hold their own at Intermediate. Just a series of unlucky breaks and near misses have kept them down over the last two seasons. They look in a good position this season to go up via a championship win. Very impressive last night. Their forward line of Ruairi McGlone, Tiernan Donnelly and Niall McElroy is impressive and is on bar with some of the big contenders going for Intermediate success this year. Hopefully Aghaloo get their moment this year.

Not blaming the ref. Aghaloo thoroughly deserved to win. But that was a six point swing in the first half. Would it have had a bearing on the final result, who knows -  based on the second half that transpired,  no, but that's a serious swing approaching half time.

As for the Errigal ref thing, you've lost me, but I'm sure the point makes sense to you...
