Quote from: clarshack on November 16, 2024, 03:23:33 PMBig shock in Ardboe. Moortown 2-12 Clonoe 1-9.

Is it? The reality is that Clonoe have been idle for 4 weeks whereas Moortown have been playing high intensity games which stood to them early on and again late on in the game.

Clonoe played friendly games v the Clarkes & Carmen but those games are a poor comparison in terms of intensity to the cut throat games Moortown were playing in the last few weeks

But on the day Moortown were better, a young fast, fit and lively team.

Not that surprised that Moortown won this. Would have been favourite for champo and league in my book and didn't get it done but fair play for getting promoted.

Out of interest would there be many of that minor team that was split up by the PD ruckus still playing or are they too old - can't mind the year they where minors

2014 and 2015 so those guys would be in their prime now. No idea though on how many of them still playing.

Challenge games no good. The Clarkes were seven pts up against the Rahillys at the start of 2nd half and then proceeded to empty the bench and the game ended a draw maybe giving the Rahillys a false sense of security.

Rebel84 - how are things up your way now at the Clarkes. Has the dust settled? I heard there was a bit of a rumpus among the set up after the Trillick defeat?

Fully agree, the paid manager and coach is the ruination of the game. You'll find that most of the teams playing negative football have outside management teams in place. The fear of losing and being put off the money train. Very hard to outlaw, if a rule was brought in that no outside managers allowed you'd get get some patsy to be named manager and real guy would still be getting paid off the record. Clubs need to put a stop to it themselves. One club I know paid out 2700 a month on management team

There's boys nearly getting that on their own ffs

For a complete management set up a cost of 2700 a month is probably below average, I would say. Season lasts 9 months, so 2700 x 9 = 24300.
That's not bad if you get a trainer and S&C coach included but honestly, I know plenty of clubs paying much higher than that for a full set up.
There are clubs in Tyrone and Derry paying a manager, a coach, a S&C coach, a goal keeper coach as one set up
