Tyrone Neutral 2023

Quote from: Ballygawleyftw on September 02, 2024, 11:00:57 AMMoortown the bookies favs for intermediate anyway!

Moortown are going into the championship with the best form winning all of there last 6 games. Late push for the league and not happy with Gortin winning the league after a very good call from Hurson giving a penalty in the dying minutes of the game on the final day.

Naomh Eoghan go into championship with 9/10 points from there last 5 games. But considering there last championship win was when Newtownstewart won the junior championship 2018 and they face the Moy on Saturday I don't think form in the league will count for them. But you never know I suppose.

WT4E

Intermediate Championship

Cookstown v Aghyaran
Moortown v Fintona
Owen Roes v Gortin
Derrylaughan v Clogher
Naomh Eoghan v Moy
Stewartstown v Rock
Drumragh v Beragh
Kildress v Greencastle

If I was going to call a shock result I would tip Owen Roes to beat Gortin

Nailed on wins for:
Beragh
Aghyaran
Moortown
Moy

The rest will be close.

Tyrone Neutral 2023

Quote from: Cranagh_Bandit on September 02, 2024, 01:53:46 PMYeah will be interesting to see how both our neighbours get on at weekend, Gortin against Owen roes, Will gortin be content with just winning league and also Naomh Eoghan. Greencastle be looking back to Div1 but arent same team since lost Teague and Bradley in management i feel.

I agree, young enough team with a lot of potential it has to be said but Sean Teague always had them motoring well. Kildress not be handy beat, could be a tight one.

I feel Gortin will want to go on and do the double, but will they standards still be the same after having already achieving league success who knows. Owen Roes will want it to be a snoozefest with the way they play and hope to catch them on the counter but Gortin have the forwards capable of scoring if you get them in the right position.

As for Naomh Eoghan as I said in the previous post they may not be able to replicate there recent good league form which got them results that they needed to maintain division 2 status but you never know. Heard when the Moy played them in the league Naomh Eoghan performed well with only 14 men for the majority of the second half and the game ended with 4 points in it. So you never know I suppose. Moy could really turn it on though and put a marker down.

But obviously wish all the west Tyrone teams all the best this coming weekend in the Championship.

Its crazy too that for a lot of clubs their year is over in August or 1st week of sept
some won't look at a ball till feb/march again next year

club season for a lot of clubs is now really mid may to august/early sept

How is it crazy? Football during the best time of the year? A calendar set so players can plan holidays and their lifes out well in advance?

Onthe40

crazy from the point of view it'll be 9 months again before they kick a competitive ball
not saying its the wrong thing just a change from what we are used to under the old routine
September would be traditionally the peak month for football and over 50% of club players won't kick a ball during it

RedHand88

But the old routine was riddled with problems, that's why they moved away from it. Why would September be the peak month for football and not the summer when the weather is better?

20 years ago the first round of the championship was played in May so for half the County there was nothing to look forward to in August or September.
