Quote from: Duine Inteacht Eile on August 08, 2024, 10:41:49 AMOne minute we are discussing the looming crisis of a lack of referees in Tyrone.
The next we're scrutinising a ref almost as if he was boxing young boys in the mouth.
Let's be honest, there isn't a referee in Tyrone who would see a dirty action resulting in such a nasty injury and decide not to take action.
People think the referee has to see everything. I don't see everything when I go to games because I can only be looking one road at one time. It's the exact same for the referee.

Sounds like Ardboe behaved very badly at getting beat, I think the most of the discontent came from the fact it was decided play could continue with such a nasty injury.
Indeed, that's the point. Most of the discontent - the referee.
Could it be that he wasn't aware of the extent of the injury when he decided to let play continue? Or is it more plausible that he looked at the young boy with that horrible injury and thought "f**k ye"?
It's like people are just primed to think the worst about a referee in a given circumstance.
Yet, we wonder why nobody will do it.

Quote from: Rebel84 on August 08, 2024, 12:22:03 PMDungannon's main forward was struck off the ball last night by a Clonoe defender but as the Referee didn't see it he couldn't send the Clonoe player off. At the final whistle the Clonoe full back threw a punch at one of Clarkes midfielders and if the Clarkes lad had have struck back then all hell would have probably broken loose. Thankfully the Clarkes didn't take the bait and they are sitting in a championship final without any worries of suspensions.

You must have missed your best forward swinging his elbow first I would hardly say he was struck an aggressive push I would call it and your 17 clapping his hands right up into 2 Clonoe players faces at the final whistle when he should have been shaking hands created a reaction eventually and no one got hit.  How ever the best team by a distance won good luck in the Final...

Is play not supposed to continue where possible unless the location of the injured player was interfering with play and they could not be moved.

Quote from: redzone on August 03, 2024, 12:12:29 PMWho's the fella over Dungannon. Didn't he manage them before. Did he manage Dungannon swifts or is there some connection there.
Just to pick up in another posters comments on another's teams timidness or maybe the other teams aggression. I'd urge any player reading this not to get involved in any of this bullshit. Just play the game. Some day someone will be killed on a football pitch by a punch,it's upto the players to control themselves on the pitch. This nonsense never seems to happen in championship football just league. Only last year Ryan Coleman suffered a nasty jaw break against Clonoe. Just fricken play the game hard and fair

Also from last week

There needs to be an education piece on assault

Correlation is not causation ... there is a referee shortage, there is a respect problem (cuts both ways), there is a prevalence of unsavoury incidents ... they all need to be addressed, individually and where potentially connected, this is the job of the County Board and clubs together, and needs to be addressed from nursery groups U6 upward to achieve cultural change

In the short term, if referees have an issue with how they're spoken to on the pitch by players or mentors, apply the rules, get your red card out, it'll soon stop

Cub with his mouth burst open and a few teeth missing. Ref said play away.

I was talking to a fair few at the game and none of them seen it and they were neutral. The ball was well away from the incident when it happened and it resulted with an Eglish free at the far end. The game didnt restart until the lad was treated and off the filed of play.
It didnt look good players and officals from Eglish looking for his teeth

Minor or not the player who done this deserves a lengthy ban- he'll think twice about doing it again in the future.

GaaGPT

Think yous are all forgetting about the player a few years ago who was notorious for this at senior level (2 serious injuries caused and one possible before the game started) and then got rewarded by being called up to county panel.

Are names going to be named or is it a guessing game?

Loughmacrory I would hazard a guess is what this man is talking about

ClubScene13

Donaghmore 9
Edendork 9
Loughmacrory 9
Clonoe 8
Omagh 8
Ardboe 7
Coalisland 7
Eglish 0

Omagh v Ardboe
Loughmacrory v Clonoe
Donaghmore v Coalisland

Dromore v Edendork
Eglish v Dungannon

Huge round of games particularly the 3 in bold, big chance for Donaghmore and Loughmacrory to create a gap that could be too big to close. On the other hand if they are to lose coupled with an Edendork loss its going to be an absolute mess.

Ardboe v Coalisland next Wednesday as well if you were a betting man on whos bottom 3 you wouldn't know where to turn

Rebel84

Massive result for Omagh beating Ardboe

Similar goings on in Div 2 Relegation battle some big games will put clubs in trouble with losses or maybe a bit of relief with a win

Kildress v Clogher
Naomh Eoghan v Fintona

Ardboe had a black card in fairness but I think they were 3 or 4 points up at one stage in the second half. In a low scoring game thats a big lead to lose. Both teams looked good until it came to the final ball. Whether it was good defense or poor offense I'm not sure. Can't see either team making it past the first round going off that performance

Big win for Donaghmore against the Fianna tonight.
