Ah man that's shocking news.. one of the true GAA legends winning hurling and football from midfield in same year!! Was at our club randomly a few years ago having a pint, couldn't believe he was there standing at the bar!!

Sad news and so young!!
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

What a player.... in both codes. Far too young. RIP

Terrible news. Very sad for Cork. Christy Ring died at the same age.

RIP Teddy.
Fine hurler with a great leap on him, and him only 58..
Scary

clarshack

RIP Teddy McCarthy what a legend.
It was shameful how he was treated a few years back for a jubilee celebration.

Just seen a photo of him leaping in the air, clean catch with his knee embedded into a standing tall Wexford man lol! Squashed against another Cork man

Blowitupref

Only player in GAA history to win an All-Ireland senior medal in both codes in the same season, a record that will probably won't be matched.  RIP Teddy.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Kidder81

Isn't there that famous story about him being "merry" in a chippy when a clare man was giving it plenty when they won their second all ireland in 1997, he piped up "sure I won two of them in a fortnight"

Teddy Mc Carthy 58. Shocking news, one of my heroes as a kid.

No way.  :'(

Absolute legend of the GAA. All time great.

I'd no idea he was that young either!
