Kildare 7/4 to beat Louth and Cork 11/8 to Clare in hurling is a good double bet today. Clare always struggle to Cork down there and can't see them winning today.

Anyway getting back to Leinster championship Kildare are great value to beat Louth. 7/4 is excellent odds to win as their athleticism is suited to the big pitch in Croke Park. Louth are guaranteed a place in AI so Kildare need the win more.

I was off to a gig so only had to endure the first half...Christ!

Down coughed it up whenever Armagh actually engaged them and were also afraid to shoot, but Armagh stood so far off them.

I am not trolling here, but is Ulster really that good? Like the reason why the Provincials are here to stay is down to one province but the quality varies a lot within that. The best game of the year could be Dublin v Derry in the league.

Good? Are you asking is the level good or the competiveness good? The former, there's 3 or 4 teams that, outside of Dublin could win Sam. 50% of next year's NFL Div 1 will consist of Ulster teams. The latter, Cavan beating Monaghan, Donegal taking out the Ulster champions and Div 1 winners. Cavan Tyrone going right to the wire, as did Down v Armagh. Ulster is by a great distance the most competitive province, and overall the strongest.. Not that you didn't know any of this of course

Yea this is just a 'once in a generation' Dublin team. It'll be interesting to see the attendance today.

Yeah, they'll have to have it in Croke Park to hold the attendance. Or so I'm told that's the reason all Dublin games are there. Plus EVERYBODY wants to play Dublin in Croke Park (they don't say everybody wants to beat Dublin in Croke park as much anymore).

The perception particularly among Armagh Folk on the run up to this game was that there a high gulf on class between the 2 teams.

I think most people on the Down forum agreed. When the game was there to be won Armagh's subs were able to make the difference, scoring each of their sides last 3 points - there's a clear gulf between the depth of both squads.

That was not apparent yesterday. Yes we lost but I am not worried how about it. We have closed the gap in laverys 2 year spell and I think this group has more potential to develop into winners in coming years. It's taken mc geeney  close to 10 years and yesterday showed they have a bit to do yet.

Down are certainly on an upward trajectory, which was probably to be expected. Laverty took over the team when they were at a very low ebb and the only way was up. I don't think using Down's progress as a tool to somehow talk down Armagh makes much sense however - they won the match, and it's the first time in quite a while they've come out on the right side of an attritional type of match. They'll have got a lot more out of yesterday's game than last years Ulster semi final. Hopefully, it can give them a bit of belief that they can win games going forward without playing well.

They may snatch an ulster but certainly not an All Ireland.

I don't think anybody is expecting Armagh to win the All Ireland, and I expect them to be underdogs in the Ulster final too, regardless of the opposition.

We were pathetic. Play like that against Donegal and it be 10 point hammering. I'd say Duffy will be in from the start the next day. Murnin, Soupy Turbo and others anonymous.

I'd say there will definitely be changes for the final. Turbitt, Burns and McElroy out. Nugent, Duffy and McCabe in for those three.
