Laois / Re: Next Laois Senior Hurling Manager for 2025

Quote from: Verbal on August 16, 2024, 03:16:57 PMDo you reckon Darren  Gleeson is currently being considered by any county ranked higher than Laois?

It's a fairly well known fact that Davy attracts a certain level of commercial interest.
Antrim is a far more commercialized area than Laois.

Recruit internally- so just go with anyone inside who will take it ?
Flawed logic.
Cork, Kilkenny, Tipp and Galway are not successful because they appoint internally.

I would prefer a small number of Laois men.
If none of them want it, we have to go outside.

And Antrim are welcome to D Fitzgerald!

There's only ever been one external All Ireland winning hurling manager

Diarmuid Healy, Michael Bond and Eamon Cregan are three for starters.

Quote from: G@@ on July 24, 2024, 11:41:09 PMAny thoughts on who will get the appointment lads?

With Darren Gleeson finishing up after 5 years in Antrim, will he be approached by Laois?
Portroe to Portlaoise is certainly a shorter road than Portroe to Portrush!

Plenty of Ports there.

Quote from: redsetanta on June 13, 2024, 11:17:06 AMWhy was Paddy put in at full forward at the start of the second half?

I heard that Paddy broke his  hand in the first minute and it was a miracle he got through the game at all.

Quote from: burdizzo on June 04, 2024, 04:23:40 PMWas it really poor refereeing? It was the barest of tips, and the ball hardly moved. Perhaps the ref. just didn't see that it had moved?
The ref wouldn't have seen it mainly because he wasn't expecting it. It's a blurred line because in the preamble before a sideline cut, players are teeing the ball, making divots, bending the hurl off the ground. No doubt the ball regularly gets touched during this foreplay without anyone ever considering it to be alive.

Very true.

99% of time the referee wouldn't see it, no matter how good he was. Linesman might see it but he'd be busy also telling lads to go back their distance etc.

Very hard one to spot.

Will ye go back a small bit there lads, thanks
Boys, go back at bit.
Go back lads.
Go back let ye
Will ye go back ta f**k

Nice bit of experimentation in the team for today. Good to see. Also, good to see James Keyes back. We'll need him.

Quote from: Laois man on March 06, 2024, 09:28:14 PMWon't be easy win the JMD offaly and westmeath are ahead of us  the way we are hurling at the moment.

I'd have faith we will give them a rattle. We need to get some of the absent lads back asap though.
