Tottenham such an odd side.  Watched them beat Man City and score four goals against them recently, tonight beaten by Bournemouth and lucky it wasn't a 4-0 defeat with the big chances Bournemouth created.

Callum Brown for one was a big loss. Really stood out at underage level for Derry.

Don't think that's accurate, was he not a sub on that team who Clifford beat in 2017, definitely came on a lot the next year and impressed for the u20's, but not the standout of those panels?
That's not to say he wouldn't be a massive game changer for Derry now!

He was among the stand out players for Derry In the matches I recall watching including U17 semi final in 2017 when he made a big impact when introduced at half time against Dublin.  2018 U20 semi final another I recall, lost to Mayo by a few points but he was among Derry's best players on the day.

Kerry chairman Patrick O'Sullivan has urged Croke Park to take action against AFL poaching after revealing that up to nine Kerry talents were contacted by Australian clubs in recent years.

Cillian Burke, who impressed off the bench on the evening of Kerry's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Armagh, was the latest Kingdom talent to sign for an AFL club when he put pen to paper with Geelong in October.
Burke's former Kerry U20 teammate Rob Monahan preceded him in making the move to Australia when signing for Carlton Blues late in the summer of 2023.

At Tuesday evening's Kerry convention in the Rose Hotel, county board chairman Patrick O'Sullivan said seven other emerging footballers from Kerry had been tapped up by AFL recruiters.

He called on the GAA to form a committee to help retain players identified and approached by Australian clubs, and for a mechanism to be put in place whereby an AFL club signing a Gaelic footballer must contribute to the units that developed him.

"Representatives of the AFL are constantly floating around Kerry minor and U20 teams over the last number of years. They come selling a professional sport to our younger players. It is hard for young players not to look at a professional career in sport," O'Sullivan began.

"The Association has to take some action regarding the AFL's constant scrutiny of our younger stars in Ireland. Procedure will have to be put in place where players cannot be taken without contributing to the club and counties who give so much to the development of these players.

"If our younger players keep emigrating to Australia, the outlook for Kerry senior teams going forward will not be a good one. Kerry players are at the heart and soul of our county, and we, as an Association, have to figure out a method to retain and keep our players at home in Ireland.

"We in Kerry aren't the only county suffering from this issue. There are players from other counties choosing to emigrate as well. We will be calling on the GAA to form a committee to look into this matter."

Quote from: 03,05,08 on December 03, 2024, 01:11:17 PMWhy do certain people in the south hate SF? They've never been in government to even justify the level of vitriol of some people. Is it the media bias? Or is it the fact they are connected to the north?

Had great admiration for them a decade or so ago. The last 5 years they joined the mainstream, ran with the herd. They provided no opposition and look now to be a worse option to FFG. And that's bad. The United Ireland they want is not the United Ireland I'd want.
Not saying I disagree with you but times change and so too everyone with it or get left behind. The Ireland we grew up in has changed immeasurably and if there is to be a united Ireland, expect it to be very different to what you might have envisioned. It will be shaped by our grandchildren and the grandchildren of unionists. And it might be no harm their views be very different to ours.

Mary Lou got 11,223 first preference in 2020. She got 6,389 in 2024.

That's a loss of 5k votes! She got 57% of the vote of her previous run out.

Last time around she had nearly two quotas.

She has lost her mojo in her electoral area.

She does not represent a vast majority of them anymore.

2nd person elected in that area in 2020 was Neasa Hourigan (GP) and got 3851 number 1 votes.  The Hutch wasn't far off that total this time on 3,098.

Just four seats to be filled. All in the Cavan/Monaghan area and at the moment it looks like two more seats for FF and one for SF and 1 for AON.

In 2020 it was

FF 38
SF 37
FG 35
GP 12
LAB 6
SD 6

Seriously. Even if he didn't pardon him the Fox News crowd would still find a way to turn it into a criticism. F*** them. F*** them to high heaven. Joe absolutely did the right thing.

It was a political prosecution anyway. The only reason they went after Hunter was to get at Joe. Not the first time the rethuglicans have demonstrated their "family values" by acting like mob bosses and going after their opponents' relatives.

Appears that way alright. From January Trump will waste little time to use his re-election to pardon himself and others.  Fox news,OANN etc will dress it up as the right thing to do.

Allegedly it was trialed during an "end of season" club competition in Meath and both the referee and players adapted pretty quickly to the new rules.

As for the D...

None of you lads do any trigonometry at school?

If you lads think everyone funneling back inside their own 45 every time the opposition gets possession only to hand pass it laterally for an eternity is a good watch, then that's up to you, but Gavin's remit was to come up with a set of rules that made the game enjoyable to watch and also to play.

Agreed. Was also trialled in Gervaghy and went well.  Am surprised at the negativity here considering the dirge we've had to watch in recent years. Opposition to change seems to be a default position here. I rem same to frees and sideline balls out of the hands and no more handpassed goals now we cudnt imagine it like that.
Great to see this effort made to save Gaelic football.

Slight change here and there is always necessary as the game evolves though I think the main issue for a lot here and elsewhere is the huge amount of change done at once and any great judgement can't be taken out various trails held as proper judgement won't be seen until be have competitive games that matter.

The "save Gaelic football" is overplayed. Watched the Connacht and Leinster senior football finals at the weekend, two very enjoyable games.

Guardiola's record at Anfield remains one win during his tenure.

Said in the build up to this game today that he'd walk away from City if he didn't turn this bad run of form around. 6 defeats and one draw in their last 7 games.

Coolera/Strandhill 1-15 to 1-14 winners, first Sligo senior Connacht winner since the 80s. The rise of Sligo football continues.
