Quote from: Tyrone Gaa on December 05, 2023, 10:16:08 PMAnyone from Omagh club here than can comment on why they have a motion at convention trying to change or review the straight knockout championship??

Are they not getting enough half time draws? I hope it's thrown out without further discussion. Why would anyone tamper with the best club championship in Ireland?

A heads gone moment

May well have hit the nail on the head here. There can't be any other reason for them to motion that other than the reason of gathering more income with games.  On the football front they wouldn't even come out of a group stage most years & the only chance they have of nipping a team in the top 7/8 now is by a straight knockout.  They do have some good youth coming through but still a long way of the top teams.

Omagh ought to look at the facilities it has for spectators. Last game I was at there, there was no light in the men's toilets.
At one of the Tyrone games the toilets on the terraced side consisted of 3 separate urinals for about 5000 people. Again no light.
A piss poor experience.

Quote from: tbrick18 on December 05, 2023, 03:29:39 PMI must admit, I dont have the first clue about trading in crypto and I'm a million miles behind when it comes to what is on the market now.

Can anyone provide a very high level overview on the current state of Bitcoin/cyrptocurrencies etc? I see a few posts there about Gaming and AI coins, but I've never even heard of those.

I feel like I'm missing out and could be making some money on side  ;D

The secret is that it absolutely doesn't matter. All the coins are absolute dung. They mean and do nothing. Complete made up shite. Anyone who says anything different is full of shite also.
If Bitcoin rises everything rises. If Bitcoin falls everything falls. The whole thing will tank in time but for now it looks like it's heading skywards.
Only put in what you can afford to lose. Look at the market cap. Lower the market cap the more chance it will 5x 10x.

See new deal agreed for the TV rights. £6.7bn. From a fans point of view its not a great offering. You need 3 subscriptions to watch SOME of the games. No guarantee you'll get to see all the games your team plays on TV.
Still the stupid 3pm blackout. Although I understand it's a legislative issue.

No wonder the dodgy box is so popular. There should be an offering to buy a game pass for your team guaranteeing you the chance to watch all your teams games. Consumers are short changed again.

Quote from: Smokin Joe on November 09, 2022, 08:11:16 PMAs I said on this thread a few months ago, I wouldn't touch anything else right now, but I'm happy that Bitcoin is a great purchase at the current prices (sub $17k) to hold for a couple of years.  I'm happy for this quote to be retrieved in 2 years.
This bear market has shown that there is Bitcoin and "crypto". Bitcoin is not crypto.

It's not rocket science.  As an investment, provide you use just a little bit of common sense it's hard to get much better risk adjusted returns as the boom / bust cycles have been so strong since its inception.

Do you have a price in your head that is your cashout point?  Or even a partial cashout.

A lot harder in practice to cash out I know, if / when the price continues to rise

I sold about 15% when we hit $40k a few days ago

Would you not have held until the ETFs are approved in January? I'm in Altcoins (BTC a bit rich for me) so have about a years hold before I sell

I've kept 85%!
I don't have any alts at all yet, but could see that changing in a few weeks / months as Bitcoin dominance probably gets near a peak for this cycle.

If Bitcoin holds at this level, then people will pour into those shitcoins. I look for stuff with a low market capitalisation. Look for absolute dung. Get in and Get out.

Quote from: Rossfan on December 04, 2023, 10:49:08 PMHas anyone told him you need to be over 35 and get nominated by either 20 members of the Oireachtas or 4 Councils?

He's 35 so theres no issue there. Like all things in politics, there is an Elite feel for running for President. The nomination process keeps the outsiders out. In this case keeping McGregor out would not be the worst thing.

Dunno. Did you see some of the arseholes who managed to run the last time, including most of the Dragons from Dragon's Den. Thank God Michael D ran or we'd have someone like Peter Casey.
These things always attract a novelty arsehole candidate. When McGregor finds out that he can't even leave the country without the approval of the government he'll soon cool his interest.

The players and manager should be refunding their wages to Malcolm, Avram et al.

The organisation as a whole has invested billions in these clowns.

Ferguson and Gill ran that club. Every aspect. Now the manager runs just the first team. The recruitment and all other aspects fall to the Glazers and the imbeciles they put in place. Woodward was a perfect example. Hadn't a clue about recruitment, contracts that's why we've a load of unsuitable players who the club can't move on. Like Jose said when he spoke about players who had left, look where they play... IF they play. Off the field they are driven solely by commercial revenue, no social responsibility. No responsibility to look after the club, stadium falling down. They hadn't even a ladies team until they were shamed into it. And the Glazers haven't spent 1.5 billion, that is Utds money. Money the club generated. The Glazers haven't put one penny in and have taken millions of dividends.

The Glazers own Utd, it's their money to spend, they've spent £1.5bn, it's not hard to work out. Fundamentally the fans are deluded and the players are workshy

Well do they really own it if they have a massive mortgage on the club?
They haven't put one penny of their own money into it.

Quote from: Maroon Manc on December 04, 2023, 09:48:30 AMMiles off it all over the pitch, always going to be tough after travelling back from Istanbul though but Rashford & Martial were disgraceful; Very little effort put in from both players, Martial was a lost cause years ago but Rashford has been pathetic all season and deserves all the abuse coming his way. Dalot gave one of the worst displays I've ever seem from a United fullback, appalling from start to finish and McTominay wasn't much better. He was bullied from start to finish by Joelinton.

They've got to be careful with Hoylund but against a good side Martial won't cut it, need to bring a centre forward in this January. Maguire played well but if Ten Hag is still here next season then I don't think Maguire will, his reluctance too take the ball from Onana is an issue.

3 home games in a row and need 3 wins, I'm not optimistic.

Martial is 21 months away from a Utd testimonial. Sums Utd right up.

Worried for EtH. He'll not survive if he keeps picking these players and they keep producing this shit. Players no interest in playing for the club. Martial f**k me. What is EtH watching? Pathetic.

Quote from: Rossfan on November 30, 2023, 12:01:35 PMSeaf, you do realise a GAA pitch is much bigger than those of soccerball and ruggerball?

This is true but surely in this day and age we can have retractable seating that gets removed for GAA?
There should have been one stadium but sectarianism took over and we hadn't the political leaders to combat it.

Quote from: seafoid on November 30, 2023, 08:32:45 AMThe Euros are a bit of a distraction to cover up the delays I think. Ireland is strange in that the 3 main sports all have to build their own infrastructure.  One reason is because all the power is centralised. There is also the history of non cooperation between sports and the ban.  In other countries like France the city builds the infrastructure and different teams use it . If this was in Cork or Belfast  for example there would be one 50,000 stadium built by the city and used by hurling, football, rugby and soccer. This model is much better. It would work very well in Belfast. The city would get concert profits to support other projects. In Ireland the GAA builds its own stadia. Páirc Uí Chaoimh does not get enough matches... It is the problem child of Irish stadia .

It happens in Uk, it happens in Italy, It happens in USA. It happens in loads of countries the world over. The idea that it's an Irish problem is nonsense.

Are those Italian stadiums not owned by the city councils? hence the ground sharing - albeit AC Milan looking to move from San Siro. Pretty sure Stade de France is city owned too hence useable for range of sports from rugby to moto cross etc.

Yeah and they both want out. Juventus redeveloped the Sadio delle Alpi and Torino moved to the Olympic stadium.
I agree that we do have far too many stadia and many could be doubled up, but it happens all over the world. It's not unique to here.
