I'm amazed Didi had the self-control not tell Maloney or Sadler to shut the fûck about U17s shïte. The rule of the keeper not coming off the line at all is so severe and hard to enforce because it involves two seperate actions that most referees exercise plenty of discretion, and rightly so. The rule should change to legalise minimal encroachment if only to shut up Brian Kerr.

Thats your opinion but with respect it is completely irrelevant. The rule is there whether you agree with it or not and it wasn't enforced. Both russian saves should have been retaken as well. Kerr is 100% right. It was enforced against us in a lessor competition. Why not today ?

Kerr is right by a strict reading of the rule book, with little regard for how it being implemented would actually effect the game. It's telling that it was Kerr, Sadler and Maloney pushing that angle while the top level player in Didi had a very different take.

its the world cup. doesnt get any bigger and ref got it badly wrong. Its daft to try and argue otherwise. Should have sent the dane off as well for the foul. 2 awful non decisions in a minute - don't expect him to get any more games in this tournament

The foul for the penalty was a yellow at best. You seem like you come from the Byron Moreno school of refereeing.

Bull. The Danish defender may have thought I'll try and make it look like a genuine attempt at getting the ball. However he was tackling wrong side so never getting it. Red.

Was there not a rule change whereby you cant be punished twice for the same incident (a red card and a penalty)?

Boycey

Only it they think it was a genuine attempt to play to ball, a deliberate hack down is still a red card.

No, dunno where you heard that. Really should've been a red IMO.

mrdeeds

Still a red if ref deems tackle or offence deliberate. If the ref feels a genuine attempt to play the ball was made a yellow is enough. The Danish player was wrong side so he could never have played the ball.

He's right, there is a rule change that stops 'double' punishment. The awarding of the penalty is seen as giving the attacking team the goalscoring opportunity back, so it's not an automatic red card now if a foul denies a goalscoring opportunity in the box.

However if the ref feels the foul was deliberate, like Suarez' handball v Ghana, or a hack down, he can still give the red card as well as the penalty.

As far as I know outside the box is still a red card because the goalscoring opportunity cannot be given back to the attacking team.

Interesting she says football instead of soccer.

Despite Neymar being an absolute pussy there, ur man should be getting a card...

You couldn't kick Neymar enough. Couldn't like him if ye breastfed him.

Capt Pat

Belgium v Brazil in the quarter final should be a great game. As long as belgium beat Japan that is.

AQMP

I get the impression that Brazil have at least one more gear if needed.

Hard to like any team with Neymar on ut

If RTE had a guy who had allegations of domestic abuse against him on the show there would be uproar. The case was thrown out on a technicality and they way she acted towards the cops is brutal. Should t be near our telly

Agreed. Same goes for Paddy Jackson and his less talented buddies.
