Current GPA members are projected to suffer a cumulative lifetime earnings reduction of €31 million

Sweet suffering Jesus

Anything to be said for a lay ministers association?

I think the report is well put together and puts the pressure on the government to cough up. Can only be a good thing.

Quote from: JoG2 on January 21, 2025, 09:40:17 PMGalway v Armagh - Galway - Galway at home will take the 2 points in a close enough game. Armagh to go down with Donegal

Tyrone v Derry - DRAW - we're shy a half back line, Tyrone shy a few forwards, though there's Dazzler, McElholm, Bradley, M Donnelly so they will still be v dangerous. Will be very interesting to see the Derry starting and finishing 15 on Sat evening

Dublin v Mayo  - Dublin- Dublin by a couple in a tight game

Kerry v Donegal - Kerry - highly doubt the Clifford will be rested this year. Donegal are being way over blown, McGuinness or no McGuinness, they do well to avoid relegation and get out of the 1/4s

Was listening to OTB and James O'Donoghue says the Cliffords aren't back yet, could be cute hoorism though. The Stacks and Crokes lads aren't going to feature either he says. So who knows. Think Donegal are ahead of Tyrone and Derry in terms of avoiding the drop.

Jack O'Connor has came out and publicly said he is giving D Clifford an extended break.

Quote from: Norm-Peterson on January 09, 2025, 11:05:35 PMI see that assault was on one of the players girlfriends. Are these wags getting free trips abroad too? Another reason why I won't be giving any more money to the GAA. The thought of paying players holidays is bad enough but the girlfriends? Even if you just give money to your local club you are probably still funding holidays.
Alleged assault.  The clubs were asked to part with £2k to assist with funding the holiday which thought was poor form from the Co Board.
I'd have no problem giving money towards a holiday. Some of those lads have slogged for a decade or more for very little reward and after the year we had last year a holiday is the least they deserve. WAG's shouldn't be going though imo.
Lets be honest. These players with full time jobs and full time training put a lot of pressure on the women folk at home.  They couldnt do what they do for the county without them.  Now I realise that there are scales to this support, from a young lad living at home with parents who has a girlfriend to the lads married with a rake of kids. For me I think the family support deserve a bit of recognition following a success like this and have no problem with that being applied across the panel.

Excellent point re scales. For a married man with kids (or anyone with kids) think about the birthdays, communions, confirmations, football games etc all missed while away training or playing matches. Some people forget during the league, and away game usually takes up the full weekend. For a league game on a sunday away to say Mayo, the players would be away from noon on the saturday, making their way down to Mayo for an overnight stay. And then not back up the road to late Sunday evening. Same as a saturday evening game down the country

Young fellas will be young fellas. He will be back to win us back to back sams. Yerroooooooo

And it has no relation to the Miami incident as far as im aware. I think he was 'missing' a few saturday/sunday morning training sessions due to extra curricular activities.

Yes Rian is off the panel at the minute.

Although I can see him coming back towards the end of the league and business end of the championship.

Let the lad do his thing and blow off a bit of steam, then reel him back in.

I Cant see a whole pile wrong with his comments. He is backing his current squad. Yes maybe a little unnecessary (at the end of the day the fans are just singing a song) but people seem to be over reacting to BR comments

Quote from: Saffron_sam20 on January 08, 2025, 09:26:47 AMRead Andy McEntee article in the Irish news (think yesterday's paper as I read it online) he makes really good points, a team of micd up officials will struggle to get the rules right and we are expecting club referees to get it right? and they will make mistakes, lots of them, what will make things worse at club level is that any dissent will then get the ball moved 50m, its far too excessive.

MR2 is any talk to the ref classed as 'dissent' I see refs talk to players during a game and you hear players saying after a free 'ah no you got that wrong' is that going to get the ball moved 50m?
Great point. What if a player turns and says ' awh come on now i hardly touched him'. Is something like that deemed as descent?
Probably depends on the ref id say

Quote from: thewobbler on December 18, 2024, 09:22:34 AMThere's two broad types of mindset towards the 50m dissent rule:

1. This a good thing. I mean like why is it seen as okay in our sport that players can in sequence bellow vile, personal abuse at officials?

2. Referee are jumped-up power hungry c***ts and they deserve everything that comes their way.

From my experience those in the no.2 camp are largely a combination of bullies, cheats and spoiled bastards who have zero interest in fairness or equality. All they want is an official who gives them the ball back on a plate. Even witness anyone on this thread or others who take this stance. They have no interest in referees or refereeing. They just don't want to lose the ability to make a referee cower under their number. So f**k 'em. Time to get in line lads.

Give it a rest you do gooder gimp

Quote from: DuffleKing on December 17, 2024, 03:22:54 PMThe first part of this would be miles off. Junior players are not training with club senior teams if that senior team has any type of ambition.

So Cross junior players are training week in and week out with Oisin, Rian, etc.? Not a chance they're anywhere near a senior set up.

Maybe not every single member of the seconds team but i would be fairly confident in saying that there would be a lot dipping in and out from the firsts teams.

Quote from: maggie on December 03, 2024, 02:53:49 PMAs ever on the last legs trying to get something sorted for a present. Anyone know where I could get 6 nation ticket and an overnight stay package or even just a ticketfor a match? Tried Skelton Travel Lurgan but they only do football ones.

Thanks.

Your best bet is the Italy game in March. Make a nice weekend in Rome out of it - you will be able to pick up tickets for it no bother. I would recommend booking own travel and accommodation - don't use a packaged deal.

You will struggle to get tickets for any of the other games - and will end up paying a complete fortune for them. You could get flights, accomadation and tickets to the Italy game fpr the same price as just tickets for the others.

Who are you booking flights to Rome with for the rugby that isn't exorbitant or takes you on a 24 hr magical mystery tour?

Aer Lingus currently have flights from Dub-Rome leaving Thursday and returning Sunday for e210. Say you are sharing room add another e50 per night, that means you can get your flights, accommodation and tickets for around e400. I don't think that is bad value.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on December 03, 2024, 08:47:50 AMIs there a special sign that the ref gives now for a 2 pointer? Instead of the usual arm up, does he put two arms up or does he just give the two fingered sign to the supporters?

There's training and seminars for referee's, coaches and managers happening over the next few months.

What are the refs saying about these new rules changes. Whats the general consensus?

There will be the normal meetings we'll have after christmas, but this no doubt would need a whole new approach

Quote from: samuel maguire on November 26, 2024, 10:54:53 AMIf you were raped why would you go on to have sex with another random man shortly after?

Why did she lie about having consensual sex with said man?

Why did she lie to her boyfreind about her whereabouts?

Why did she claim she was the only one there - Then once her friend came forward and said she was also present and she seen/heard anything to cooperate with a rape taking place?

Is it not strange for the first thing for her boyfriend to do when she arrived home was record their conversation? Why wait to go to the police?

Why did the taxi driver also confirm she preformed oral sex on McGreogor in the back of the car?

It just doesn't add up to me. I think she was caught being a coke whore and eventually when she had to go back and face the music she see an opportunity to throw out the rape card.

I supose she got all her injuries by falling into the bath aswell.

What injuries? If you are talking about the brusies on her body they could have easily occurred anytime throughout her 3 day bender. It was proven she had little to no sleep over the course of these 3 days. Maybe she fell? Or maybe as a result of the rough consensual sex she had?

The tampon one is a tricky one - Maybe she was that of her head/drunk she forgot it was in. Seems plausable. Maybe it was inserted by herself after the act to run inline with her fabricated story? Who knows.
Hygine was not on the top of this womans agenda - she has been wearing the same clothes for 3 days.
