Quote from: bennydorano on August 28, 2024, 01:42:41 PMWas on holidays in Lanzarote a while back there and did a bit of cycling, we stayed in Costa Teguise which is perhaps a bit more exposed than other places but the wind was absolutely horrendous (& I was going out at 7.30am to avoid the worst of it), how anyone can be bothered with that is beyond me, altho the bike shop did say the winds are much worse in high summer. A very distant 3rd in my Canary Islands cycling experience.

Where is your favourite? France surely the best country for the iconic climbs?
Yes. Pyrennes over the Alps if you ask me. Quieter roads, cheaper and easier access.
Fly into Lourdes, cheap accommodation once it's not pilgrimage season and bike hire.
So many climbs close by, and others within 2 hrs spin
Use train to relocate west or east if you want another base for climbing or fly into Toulouse and train south

Quote from: burdizzo on August 09, 2024, 09:27:17 AMYeah, as if they haven't been wasting the lives of their soldiers up to now with suicide missions. Calls from within Ukraine for the pursuit of an unwinnable war to be reconsidered.
How many soldiers have Russia thrown into the meat grinder now?

Reports suggesting Ukraine has invaded Russia in the Kursk region
Apparently they have penetrated up to 40km into Russia with a very mobile corps of possibly 2500 troops with air support

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on July 14, 2024, 03:00:40 PMI have to laugh at some of the Twitter warriors who are terrified of another Trump term because of democracy are happy to make light of a fuckin assassination attempt!

Ye can't have it both ways lads! Just because you despise someone doesn't mean that this isn't a horrendous thing to happen. I'd say the massive fear would be a MAGA head-the-ball might fancy a response...

That picture of him is amazing and the power there, with the flag in the background will help to hand him the win.
Except it's a democratic republic, not a democracy

Quote from: weareros on June 24, 2024, 05:05:52 PMIf the truly miraculous happened in two of the games and Ros and Louth won, and Dublin and Kerry won, based on what they were suggesting on Morning Ireland, then you'd have a semi-final of Louth v Ros and Dublin v Kerry. I'd say they'd quickly row back on what they said if that happened.
The semi finals the GAA needs.

Don't stick your boot or leg in where your hands should go to block a shot.
It's dangerous play and not allowed

Quote from: PeterEli on June 06, 2024, 09:00:11 PMHi Folks, maybe someone on here will have knowledge in this area and be able to point me in the right direction or have some decent advice.

I am currently a primary school teacher working in the north, living in a border region with a few county Monaghan towns within a shorter or similar distance to my current commute. With the glaring difference in pay it would be foolish of me to not explore the avenue of transferring to teach in the south. I am aware of the process of registering with the teaching council, aware also of the Irish language requirement, in school observations, oral and written exam and a course in the Gaeltacht. My Irish doesn't currently stretch passed a Cupla Focal & GCSE Irish many moons ago.

Is this my only option for getting employment with the teaching council to register as a primary teacher and complete the Irish language requirement. Or would it be possible to register as a secondary teacher, completing some kind of top up credits or even registering as a SEN teacher and gaining a relevant qualification.

If anyone has any advice or has done similar before I would really appreciate it. Cheers.
Go subbing
Lots of work

Quote from: From the Bunker on June 04, 2024, 09:19:38 PMCapacity of Hyde 18,890? You'll never fit all those famed travelling Dubs in there? You do know the Dubs will travel anywhere in large numbers?

That was the restricted capacity, redevelopment work done since and it's 23,900 now

Still won't be enough room. The Dubs travel in large numbers, especially in the Championship. Just look at the statistics. They love a good journey across the Shannon.  ;D
The Dubs can't even find Croke Park on the satnav lately

What did the Roscommon player get a black card for? It looked like he was pulled down by the Dublin player

Considering the resources in both counties that is a great victory for Longford
