GAA Discussion / Re: Violence in Adult Club Football
October 08, 2018, 05:13:35 PM
I know of several county boards in Ulster who are dishing out fines to clubs of up to €500 for petty technical infringements such as players not wearing correct numbers, too many personnel inside the pitch, team changes not being notified to the announcer before a match.

The same county boards meanwhile will brush violent brawls and physical fights under the carpet. Until the county boards start taking these things seriously this will continue until someone gets seriously injured or worse.

It could be that McGregors lifestyle is catching up with him. Once he has lost that edge and hunger he has lost something intangible as a UFC fighter at the elite level. His primary motivation appears to be money and he already has enough of that.

Mc Gregor was humiliated inside the ring but Nurmagomedov humiliated himself after the fight. For McGregor what goes around comes around. What is amusing is all the McGregor disciples feigning outrage at the Russians post fight antics. The irony.

Yes, it WAS a disgrace but don't be hypocrites, McGregor has acted like trash for years.

Utd 8/1 at ht, def worth a bet. That Newcastle side is pretty poor, there for the taking if get first goal.

Hope you got on. That second half is the way it should be with United. Plenty of attacking players on the pitch, absolutely no structure but it was exciting for the fans.

It has saved Mourinho for now.

Shocking, absolutely shocking. Mourinho has destroyed this team, Bailly should have given hom a mouthful after humiliating a player like that just to satisfy his own ego. Then using McTominay at centre half, it's a complete mess.

This is a business. These are business men, making business decisions. The quality of the product, is the team and its success or lack of. The Glazers bought Utd for £575m what, 14,15 years ago? They could sell the club today easily for 2 billion and quite possibly more. That's business. That's big boy business. That's all this is.
JM is harming that business. He's turning players and fans off which means less profits. He will be ruthlessly disposed of.

The share price reached an all time high at the end of August but has dropped almost 20% since then in just the space of a month. That will be the main deciding factor in any decision taken to sack Mourinho, not necessarily position in the League table, although the share price is related to this

What is Rodgers overall away record in European football, must be brutal at this stage.

The minute that Woodward and the Glazers witness empty seats and see CL qualification under threat I think Mourinho will be gone. It isn't far from being at this point even so early in the season but I reckon Europe might help him get a stay of execution for at least a few more weeks.

However, I don't see him getting until Christmas.

Even allowing for Mourinho's personality defects, I agree that the players need to take some responsibility and it is clear that nearly all of them are under performing. I maintain that they are the second best squad of players in the League behind City yet they are insulting the fans every week by putting on such timid displays.

The only surprise is that people are still surprised by these performances. And given Mourinho's history after being a few seasons in charge, it is not going to get better.

The problem he has is that he acted like a cnut to a lot of people on the way up and now he is getting very little sympathy on the way back down. It is just a soap opera.

The Ryder Cup together with the Lions Tour are the 2 biggest over hyped corporate media junkets in sport. That said the Ryder Cup does make for good TV on the Sunday providing the scores are close.

Armagh / Re: Armagh Club football & hurling

Maghery should dispose of the Nab, they are a bit more streetwise and the Nab have a weakness in defence.

Cross v Cullyhanna will be interesting and this could easily be the final I feel. Cullyhanna ambushed Cross 2 years ago in a game in which they were clearly second best. However the gap has narrowed since then as Cross have slipped back and Cullyhanna have improved sightly. Cross are 1/3 favourites with the bookies but it can only be based on past reputation and not current form. Up until last week I would have favoured Cullyhanna but Cross have got a few key players back and were seriously impressive against Harps last week so I believe that they will just about edge it.

It beggars belief that Mourinho is still living in a hotel room over 2 years after stepping into the job. I don't think anybody ever expected him to be here for any longer than 3/4 years but it looks like a race between him and Pogba now as to which leaves first. Quite frankly I'm not bothered if they both but the longer this saga gets protracted out the more collateral damage will be caused in terms of dressing room splits etc.

That's the best result for Utd, Jose will be out by Xmas at this rate, I think he'll walk rather than be pushed.. those set of players should take a good look at themselves tonight and be very embarrassed

Not a chance will he walk. Never done it in his previous jobs and he is unlikely to just waive his right to a £10-15m payoff. That is one area I wouldn't actually blame him on.

He deserves a large portion of the blame though since a lot of these players are under performing and he bought a good few of them. Morale seems to be at an all time low and there is a growing apathy among the supporters as to what is happening within the club. Meanwhile Woodward is doing a great job as far as the Glazers are concerned as the dollars continue to roll in. Even though he appointed the last 3 managers none of whom have lived up to expectations. At what point does he begin to get questioned or will he simply whip out the cheque book again and sign another player who will sell loads of jerseys in order to appease the fans once more.

Wasn't Moyes Fergie's parting gift??

Probably but the point still remains the same. Woodward measures success in terms of the share price, that is his remit.

It puts paid to the notion that Cavanagh and Moy have ever accepted that it was anything but a deliberate act. Only the Edendork player will truly know his intentions himself, but I think that the Tyrone county board need to release the video footage if they want full transparency. It might still not be 100% clear but at least people can make their own minds up based on the evidence and if Edendork believe they have been slandered they will also welcome the chance to clear their players name.
