Quote from: tonto1888 on April 14, 2024, 03:18:52 PMThe klopp era fizzling out. I'm not sure announcing he was leaving when he did was a good idea
Had to be all about him.

What kind of idiotic statement is this??

Can't fault them for effort, but story of the season, just not clinical enough.

No hope in the league now. Hope Arsenal do it!

Well done Palace. Should be safe now.

That said, it could be at least 3-3 today

BBC just said last two games, so far, Liverpool have an XG of 4.59 and zero scored.

I think the title is gone regardless of whether Liverpool come back and win this.

Liverpool need to win out, but you can't squeeze through by the skin of your teeth every single week. Sooner or later you're going to fall short.

They've been better in the last 20 minutes, and have created a few decent chances, but they look so vulnerable to the quick one touch football Palace are playing from midfield up. Palace have always done well down Liverpool's right side, but they're really exploiting that space between Konate and Bradley when Bradley pushes up. I can't see Klopp changing the formation, so I'd expect changes

Trent and Elliott on?

f**king hell - Palace are playing Liverpool off the park so far

Quote from: theskull1 on April 14, 2024, 09:53:50 AMSackcloth and ashes time for plenty of board members who sided with the wrong side of history in regard to this topic.

What's the "wrong side"?

Views were/are spread across a wide spectrum, as might be expected with a pretty new, unfamiliar issue.

Are the "trans people are freaks/frauds" people on the wrong side?

Could hit a hatful at the weekend. Think Klopp said he didnt think Atalanta were going to be as good? with the title run in he has to rotate, Atalanta not in same position back in Italy so they flogged their players last night. Think they made one change on 88 minutes or something

I'd be an advocate of putting out my strongest team, put the home leg to bed and move on with a lesser tea the next day. Thats probably why I'm not a PL manager  ;D

It's tempting to think that Liverpool COULD turn the tie around, but I'm sure the bookies would give you at least 10/1. Has it ever been done heading away in the second leg?

Still, I think Klopp has to at least try. They're not heading to the Bernebeau like last year. Atalanta were superb, but Liverpool were plainly not ready for what they brought. If they do go there properly prepared and up for it, you never know what could happen if they grab the first goal.

Of course, Liverpool have a habit of NOT grabbing the first goal this season!

Quote from: johnnycool on April 12, 2024, 08:14:02 AMKelleher had a mixed bag of a night to be fair, an absolute wonder save (with his face) to save a certain goal a few minutes before he was slow to get down to the first goal.

His distribution was also poor but I think credit has to be given to Atalanta, they'd worked out the Liverpool restart strategy, didn't allow the first set of passes to get into midfield and when it goes back to Kelleher he tries to lop in just beyond midfield into the spaces behind the press, but they were there for it and physically much stronger in that area.
Atalanta won midfield throughout the game.

Gakpo had one of his better evenings and it seems he's better suited at picking the ball up in deep areas and then driving forward with it, he's not a hold up type centre forward and neither is he a run off the shoulder lad.

Nunez's wastefulness in front of goal and Salah is just dire at the minute is the main reason Liverpool are in this position.

Can't help but think Kelleher getting extra protection on here as he's  Irish if Raya or Onana concede those goals they are getting pelters. The first goal which is a howler then has a massive impact on game.  Don't see how you can proportion more blame on Salah who came on at ht to a team that was clearly not at themselves.
I think he actually gets extra criticism because he's Irish. From the games I've watched he has been very good recently. One bad mistake from the first goal last night and people are all over him again having a go at him. Not a word then when he puts a string of good performances together. It could have been a worse defeat last night only for some of the saves he made.

Whatever about on this board, Kelleher has been lauded up and down for his performances this season. There's barely been a word about Alisson being missed for the past two months, despite the fact that he's arguably the best keeper on the planet. He is due back in the next game or two and I expect Klopp will put him right back in the team, but Kelleher has been superb overall in his absence, and has actually played more games so far this season than Alisson.

Holy f**k! Didn't see the match or any updates during it. Wasn't expecting THAT score line!

Will they cost England that fifth CL spot? 🙂

Quote from: Turf on April 10, 2024, 02:49:32 PMSure Munich should have had a penalty for handball that Arsenal fans don't seem to be talking about!

Was reading about that in The Athletic.

I can understand the ref's "common sense" rationale for dismissing it, but surely under the rules he had no choice but to give it?
