Very disappointed in the management team that Reid wasn't picked in the squad this time.

I think Trap had a right to drop him for discipline reasons and had a right not to pick him when he couldnt nail down a starting place at his club (even if he picked other lads in similar siutations). But now that he's playing every game for Sunderland, and playing the full 90 minutes in most, and playing quite well in most, its getting towards "a disgrace" that he's not in the squad. There can no longer be any argument thats he's out for football reasons, and IMO that's a poor reflection on the management team.

Masch and Benny out of match for Forientina away on Tuesday. Masch a big miss and hopefully he'll be back for Chelsea on sunday, these two games would be his type of games.
Yeah, hopefully there's not much wrong with either. No point taking any chances, so I'd say both will start v Chelsea.

Babel will probably get a start v Fiorentina after some decent displays recently.

Agger to make his comeback by playing in the reserves tomorrow night.

Harry defiantly back in form
Next season could be huge for him, could see him winning a major or two
he still can't putt, he'll win nothing (major) whilst that continues (of course he's got a great chance next week in the dunhill links).
Rubbish. Harrington is one of the best putters around. On Saturday the yank commentators agreed he was the best putter on tour in the crucial 6 to 10 foot range.

Dunne outboxed him in the first round, but the Thai figured him out by the 2nd and looked clearly the better fighter.

Dunne is probably the best in Europe at his weight, so he is damn good. But not in the same class as the very top men in the world. He was a bit lucky to get his title shot, but when he did he had the guts and determination, along with some talent, to take it. And as Indiana said, nobody can ever take that away from him.

He's a good lad too, gave a very good speech there at the end. Good luck to him.

Katie Taylor got some reception when announced to the crowd before the fight. A standing ovation for about 5 minutes. Fantastic.

Gerry Ryan on the other hand got absolutely slaughtered. Hilarious!

Ganley's posters with the young girl are despicable. Typical of that individual.
Whatever about the merits of Yes or No, people giving that toe-rag credit on this thread turns my stomach.

American corporations located in Ireland are very much for it.

Google , Starbucks, McDonalds, blah blah. The truth is that a few Irish leaders of a few American companies support Lisbon, as does Ryanair. The rest haven't expressed an opinion. Dell hasn't give an opinion but that may have to do with moving to Poland with an EU grant. To say they "are very very much for it" is a scam as most haven't been asked and those that have are connected to Irish politics at a high level. Many of those that have been asked probably couldn't care less as they will go where the profit is regardless of Lisbon.
Scam my arse.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland represents most of the US multi-nationals:

21 September press release from them:
Dr. Paul Duffy, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, responding to Mr. Justice Frank Clarke's statement 'that claims that ratifying the treaty would affect job levels were political statements about which people might have different views', stated the following:

"The American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland, which represents 600 US companies in Ireland is in no doubt that the future of jobs and investment in Ireland is inextricably linked to our future in Europe and a Yes vote to the Lisbon Referendum.

"Nearly 300,000 people in Ireland depend on over 600 US multinational companies for their livelihoods.   These same companies contribute €13 bn to the economy in terms of payroll and goods and services employed in their operations and pay nearly 40% of Ireland's corporation tax.  This significant contribution to Ireland's public purse pays for social and economic expenditure.

"While it is impossible to calculate the medium or long term effect of a No vote, we have no doubt that a second rejection of the Lisbon Treaty would inflict a severe injury on the prospects for future foreign direct investment in Ireland.  Many US multinationals are attracted to Ireland because of the access to European markets this country gives them.  Ireland is seen as an influential player in a marketplace of 500 million people.  If we reject this Treaty on October 2nd, it will cause uncertainty about our commitment to Europe and will weaken our competitive position when trying to win new FDI investment in the future.

"As a country we cannot afford to vote No".

24 September press release from them:
There are 300,000 very good reasons to Vote 'Yes to Lisbon' the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland stated today.   300,000 jobs are supported by almost 600 US companies in Ireland and a Yes Vote will help protect these jobs and secure future investment according to the Chamber.

"With 300,000 people dependent on US companies for their jobs and livelihoods, we cannot afford to be complacent.   Europe's market of 500 million consumers is a huge opportunity as we seek to drive our economic recovery.  As an open economy we export to live and our recovery will be export led.  US companies are our largest exporters and are the backbone to the economy.  The largest potential for job creation in the foreseeable future will be in the foreign direct investment sector.

"However future investment and future job creation by these companies will be influenced by our international reputation as being a stable, pro-business place to do business.  In the volatile global environment, Europe gives us significant economic stability.  The perception of Ireland's influence within EU is also hugely important to investment decision makers.  It is imperative that we seize the opportunity to place ourselves at the heart of Europe by voting Yes so we can safeguard jobs and future investment", said Dr. Paul Duffy, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland and VP Manufacturing, Ireland and Singapore, Pfizer.  Dr. Duffy was joined by American Chamber of Commerce board members from Microsoft, Intel and Medtronic in launching the American Chamber's 300,000 reasons to vote Yes campaign.

You do not need a passport to travel within the EU just an acceptable form of ID.    1000's of Spanish travel to UK/Ireland every year on National ID cards and do not have passports.

As we don't have National ID Card here a passport is considered the most acceptable alternative.   A recently expired passport IS still an acceptable form of ID.
Incorrect.

Spaniards can travel to most countries in the EU with their national ID and without a passport - but not to the UK or Ireland. They must have a passport. The UK opted out of the "no passport within EU" lark, and we had to follow them because of our border.

A passport is required for Irish people to travel anywhere other than the UK. And if flying to the UK on Ryanair, a passport will be the only form of ID accepted from next month.

The reason why they're playing the man and not the ball in relation to Ganley is that he knows the Treaty inside out and is willing to tell it like it is. As he has the truth on his side and is a very accomplished speaker he is practically impossible to beat if people stick to the script. FF know that if they put Cowen or some of the front benchers on TV against Ganely it will guarantee the Treaty is defeated so the only option is to blacken him and say he has no mandate so that they can avoid it.

a man with links to the US military know it inside out and spins it his way...this may is anti lisbon as like all american companies and even the US government are very much against giving europe power as europe is very much about equality, competition and regulation...the last think someone like Ganley wants is more regulation, competition etc  as it is bad for his business and not for ireland

Right idea, wrong reason. The US are against it because they do not want a European military power.

Simples.

But I thought if we didn't vote for it no-one from the US would invest in our country and we'd all have no jobs and no future! Very confusing, isn't it!  ;D
American corporations located in Ireland are very much for it.

Hadn't heard The Muppet's insight that the American government is against it because they are scared of the EU's military power.

I much prefer playing these bottom half teams when they are coming off a good result. When they're desperate for a win, there much more likely to spring a surprise. Should be comfortable of course, but I'd be very wary. Particularly because our defence has been really dodgy, and I'm sure Hull will focus on set pieces - Paul McShane might even score against us - again!

I thought Babel played very well in the first half on the right wing. By a distance the msot dangerous player we had. Did little in the 2nd though alright when he was put on the left.

Dossena definitely not the answer at left back. The couple of times he's been half decent for Liverpool, he's been at left midfield. Not sure where Aurelio was playing! - but he didnt really get into the game. He's better than Dossena, but I'd keep Insua at left back at present.

Ngog took his goal really well. Still young and improving.

I thought Spearing was decent when he got into the game in the 2nd half. Sprayed some very nice passes, particularly the one to Babel that led to the corner that eventually led to the goal.

Happy enough with Kyriakos too that he can do a job if called upon.

Overall it wasn't great. Clearly a lot of lads playing together for the first time this season and rustiness was evident. But closed out the game very calmly with nice passing when went 1-0 up.

Aerlik, the book Brown based Da Vinci code on was also anti-Catholic.  The entire premise of the book you mentioned is anti-Catholic - I got it first time round and got the message loud and clear

Hound, I assume you aren't a practising Catholic?  If I have assumed correctly then I have nothing more to say
I dunno what that's got to do with anything. Do you have to be a Jew to have an opinion on anti-Semitism? What even is a practising Catholic? Are you a practising Catholic? Do you go to confession regularly? Do you use condoms? Have you ever supported a violent act of the IRA?

hi there; not a boxin guru like most of yous on here, but like watching the odd bout;

can i just say i never saw as big a tw@t as thon interviewer after the fight; interrupted mayweather continually;
no great fan of mayweather the person, but was v glad when he gave yer man what for;

rant over (mayweather some boxer by the way)

who won? :)
Totally agree. An absolute knob. Floyd should've decked the smarmy git.

Didnt think size had too much affect on the result. Mayweather's speed and accuracy were the difference.

Other good performers for City were Given, De Jong and SWP.
Personally I thought SWP was the worst player on the pitch, albeit a close run thing with Foster and Ireland. Barry and De Jong were destroyed in the 2nd half.

I'd imagine Ferguson's patience with Foster must be running thin. If TommyK puts in any kind of a performance on Wednesday, he might push for a start at the weekend.

Errigal Ciaran had a golf classic a couple of months ago where the local car dealer put up a new car for a hole in one on one of the power 3 holes. Closest was about 2 or 3 inches. Bet the car dealer had some sweat on that day :D

he would have been ok,cars for hole in ones at fundraising events are insured incase this happens, the dealer would have been hoping for a hole in one, cheap publicity.the gui (golf union of ireland)are clamping down on this as it is breaching armature rules.
yeah, was thinking they'd not be too happy with it.  How did this guy circumvent the rules?  If you're not a club member can they do anything anyway?
That green looked in pretty rag order too, ball took a wild hop at one stage.
There's no rule against it. I played in a competition last week where there was a Volvo on offer for a hole-in-one. However, if you get the hole-in-one and accept the car, then you forfeit your amateur status (i.e. can never play in another amateur competition). I don't think most of us would need to think twice in such an event, though there are people who play 1 or 2 competitions every week at their local club, which might make it a difficult decision for them.

I really enjoyed Angels and Demons, though didnt see the film.

You'd wanna serious chip on your shoulder to think Da Vinci Code was anti-Catholic.

Deception Point was alright at best, didnt like Digital Fortress.
