Maroon Manc

A bit worrying the amount of players missing with championship only weeks away.

Galway side about as weak as can realistically be at this stage. Very experimental and loads missing. He's clearly using his last chance to test players having only got hold of them for the first time this year (corofin etc)

Clear no.1 Full back, centre back, midfield, centre forward, full forward. All gone

Assuming Leonard's there to take frees? Seems a strange choice with other newbies around who had much better club championships. Huge opportunity for Maher, on the panel a matter of weeks and thrown into this. Hopefully himself and Campbell aren't overawed

100% this, if PJ had a clear focus on going all out for the league title by trying to win the last two matches this team wouldn't have been named, the likes of Maher have been parachuted in from out of nowhere.
Some players there were in top class form during the club championship, Conroy was probably the best overall club player in the Senior championship, Finnerty and Daly - final performance aside - stood out as well. Some others however (likes of D'Arcy, Leonard) really did not stand out at all, Heaney did not play well for Killannin but would have to give him the benefit of the doubt given his past Galway performances. Liam Silke is coming in off the back of a complete cleaning out in the county semi-final but at least he is out of the FB line here. SOAC very mixed performances (that's being kind) for Galway the last few times he's been in the starting 15.

The team named could of course perform very well and hopefully they will but there's a bit of a shot in the dark vibe about it.

Yes you'd hope that all (bar Daly obviously) will be okay for c'ship.

Good move from Joyce to bring McGuinness no matter what capacity it's in. There's literally no downside to it

Odds for Sunday:
Galway 4/6
Mayo 13/8
Draw 13/2

The main thing we have going for us in this match is that our need is greater

With that in mind Mayo's odds are very tempting.

You must have put a decent wad of cash on it   :D

I expect a Mayo win by 4 points . Galway peaked in February

Cruciate knee ligament injury, gone until next year. Big loss alright, was playing great stuff.

75% of the thread is the few Galway lads discussing the team named cos Joyce is the only manager of the last 15 years intent on doing it the old fashioned way. I can't see how it aids the team in any way but good for fans i suppose
