I won't pretend to be a guru but what (little) I do know is that it is vitally important to build up a good level of strength using compound movements - for example 1.5xBW for squat, BW bench, etc  is a good target. Olympic lifts then help to express this strength in a show of explosive power. They undoubtedly have great benefits for sports however they are difficult to learn and performed badly lead to injury. Full snatches and cleans for example have little crossover to football.  A high snatch pull or power clean might be better.  Again I feel a good level of strength must be built up (with focus on form and full range of movement rather than rushing to lift big weights poorly)and then other power exercises like box jumps, med ball slams and sprints can help develop your power. For power Reps should be kept low, recovery plentiful and effort high on each rep.

Body builders are an entirely different kettle of fish. Training for Aesthetics is not the same as training for sports performance.

Is that just because of the persona he portrays, man does a hell of a lot for charity and is instrumental in getting kids back reading in an era of tablets and technology.

Absolutely his persona, cant stand him. Work he does besides though is first class. Despise his comedy, same dung all the time

So you don't like his comedy and as a result think he is an arsehole - great logic!

Yeah he does my feckin bollocks in, can't stand the way he goes on. Plenty of talk of Bono here too despite all the philanthropic work he does and others but no word of them..? ye can be an arsehole and do plenty else too. "No wides" could end up on this list too very handy the way he's goin..  ::)

I am sure he cares, so is it his camp nature that makes you think he as an arsehole, Bono is an arsehole a self righteous p***k who doesn't act how he preachers, but you classify someone as an arsehole because you can't stand the TV persona he portrays in his showbiz career, with that in mind do we list the real people who portray characters in soaps / tv / film as aresholes - grow up ffs.

Right that's it...

Found an absolute gem last night in Belfast. Out for a meal with friends and they took us to "The Shed" on the Ormeau Road. Waiter explained they were rolling out their new menu for the first time... everything that came down was first class

This stigma of squats and deadlifts etc not being for the normal fella just looking to do abit or whatever really needs to be tackled. Squatting and deadlifting are just about the two most natural things you can do. Most beneficial and all round essential to mobility and so much more. To all the people "just looking to lose weight" who insist on avoiding weight training, your methods fly in the face of all modern research. Do yourselves a favour and try it

his stand ups were great I thought. The spin off product of Karl Pilkington Idiot Abroad series was fantastic viewing - quite a bit of credit must be given to him here I'd say. Never actually got into The Office at the time and probably missed out. Think he plays on the atheist/God topic too much, he'd slogged the topic to death on many formats and then made a movie based on the hole thing which was a bit exhausting. But in comparison to many other comics, he's one I'd actually watch.

There must be a team recruiting out there as the Derrytresk (Tyrone) goalkeeper is getting flew out there in a few weeks time too...Jasus him and Rory will have some craic and banter there.

I can't imagine they'd have anything in common.

2 class GAA players and both love a pint...there's a start.

Only thing ever came outa Derrytresk was good pints and handbags... at least thon goalkeeper might get a good send off and a good bag for his travels.
