'Ignore' is a great thing on this. But ffs please quit quoting him.

The perfect solution for the angry/stupid/annoying brigade who flood every thread with multiple quotations as they incapable/too lazy to edit.

I think CJ's a busted flush. The amount of penalties he gives away and turnovers he gives away always seem to be ignored and the very odd (these days) 10 metre carry gets praised to high heaven.

I see Thornley in the Times today reckons the omission of Addison means Carberry must be pencilled in for some game time at 15 in the world cup.  Not sure I'd draw that conclusion, but Larmour a bit lucky to hold on to his place.

Still can't get over Dev.

Conan must become the first choice 8, CJ has little new to offer, he can't do more than a couple of metres at best.

Larmour should have been left at home awaiting an injury call up. Addison has so much more to offer at 15, in the centre and as another place kicker when Sexton's and Carberry's turn out to be worse than thought as they fail in Japan. Larmour too often goes awol.

Not many can get over the lack of loyalty to Toner.

General discussion / Re: GB Car Stickers
September 04, 2019, 08:24:20 PM
No need for GB stickers. All cars from OWC already have significantly different number plates from those registered in RoI.  Our cars have yellow rear plates and all RoI cars have the county on the plates. So, they can be distinguished easily.

Already we have our usual sectarian demarcation for NI cars when the owners take them to the continental mainland on holiday. Unionists have GB stickers, nationalist use IRL stickers and core Alliance voters use the non-existent NI stickers.

Also most use IRL stickers on cars on holiday to gain favour with the continental drivers who most likely will not like the British.

I think in relation to Kleyn and Aki they are not much better than the second rows and centres we have. There is not much point in them being on the team, i would prefer to see Irish players like Toner getting in the squad and Henshaw and Ringrose starting in the centre.

In relation to Stander at number 8, I am happy enough to see him there as when he started out he was by far the best we had at the position. Conan might be a challenger now but there is really nobody else there.

Stander is very much second best at 8.  His best days for Ireland are behind him, he is now so predictable if he can get his hands on the ball that the opposition have his number and sort him out. Conan must be a starter.

Taking off Mannion and Howard is a big call by Gavin.

Mannion was poor I thought

I thought taking off MDMA was a mistake

Barely figured in the second half. Jack Barry wasn't as eye catching as he was in the first 20 minutes but I don't know when the last time Fenton was kept so quiet.

Also, he showed a couple of signs of kicking the football, so Gavin was right to haul him ashore given Macauley's, you know, complete inability to play Gaelic football.

Harsh!! The man has won a plethora of All Ireland's and while not the silliest of footballers does some amount of work and a great job for Dublin

Very true and he's been one of the most important Dubs of the last decade. Fully deserved his all stars and FOTY award.

Doesn't change the fact that he can't play football to save his life.

And yet he has 6 AI medals:

All-Ireland Senior Football Championship: 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018

Are things not going so well in SF land? Leadership elections now? My, my. Whatever next?

Unbelievable that Sf has suddenly become a democratic party when all leadership has previously been more like USSR with appointees "elected" by the membership.

Replacing O'Neill makes sense if Foster also goes to allow Sir Jeffrey to take over.

The question is, how does Andy Moran compare with Ciaran McDonnell?

In terms off what....
Football style?
haircut?
Football Ability?
Fan adorability?
Personality?
Attitude?

Where do Mayo people rank these football greats?

Have Derry not suffered enough?

If it happens, Brolly will go mental.

One of the reports I read yesterday evening said that the worst thing that could happen English test cricket would be a miraculous run chase to paper over the cracks of just how bad their test batting is at the minute.

+1

It distracts from the failure of the selectors to choose a team capable of test cricket by pulling in limited overs experts; the poor captaincy by Root whose first time as captain was as England captain, no experience; and the failure of the top order batsmen.

In the end, England won this game by having a West Indian bowler barely out of residency qualification bring fast bowling to the Aussies and a Kiwi who is probably the best all-rounder in the world.

Anyone able to offer any advice?

My son will be starting UL in a few weeks. Currently he is a named driver on one of 2 policies in my name. I had intended amending the policy to have him as the main driver so he could take the car down with him. I contacted my insurance company to see if this was ok only to be informed they don't insure people down south for an extended period and that I would have to re-register the car down south and get insurance there. I had assumed I wouldn't have to do this as his main residence would still be at home. Anyone had to do anything like this before or how much it would cost to register the car, a 2012 1.6 Seat Leon diesel, or how much insurance would cost for a 18 year old who passed the test a year ago?

Stop mollycoddling him.  Put him on the train from Portydown with his suitcase and tell him you'll see him at Christmas. If you must take more of an interest leave him down and buy him a bike with a good lock. Remember how it was in your day.

In all seriousness do you really want an inexperienced 18 year old traversing the length of the country on his own given the state of driving south of the border and a northern plated car attracting the local hoods?

Schmidt is the best coach we ever had . They will be ready for Scotland

All true, but there can be no dressing up yesturday. That is the World Cup...if Sexton doesn't make it.

Not too late to send for Jackson, Zebo and Ryan, maybe even Madigan. Perhaps John Cooney could be persuaded back with Ultan Dillane.
