Talk about Burren underage..........I saw their u-14's play in the Down feile at St. colmans last Monday, they were very impressive. So many of them very comfortable on the ball, and mistakes were a rarity. Closest to them were Carryduff, but showed more tenacity and brawn than stylish football. Shamrocks struggled, they only had a couple of decent footballers, compared to their team last year.
Shamrocks must be a formidable team at u16 this year, saw they beat Rostrevor 8-24 to 0-1 during the week, considering Rostrevor beat Shamrocks in the u16 south down final last year and went on to beat Carryduff in the county final.
Interested in that comment about Burren bringing in lads from outside the parish, is that really going on and if so, how is it happening?

Passionate second half performance from Donegal today. They really took control in the middle of the park, with Mcloone, Bradley, Gallagher, thompson and mchugh all putting in quality performances. They moved the ball forward very quickly but ran out of space in the scoring zone, but still managed to score 8 points in the second half. Thought it would have been better if McFadden and mcbrearty stood on the end line to give the running players more space, they were coming too deep and congested the danger zone. Lacey did a fine job on Clarke, however Clarke did catch a couple of great balls under tremendous pressure. Ref was good today and generally let play flow. Well done to Donegal and I look forward to seeing them in the championship, I think we got a glimpse today of intensity they will bring to championship games. Saw Donal Reid along the line today, didn't realise he was involved in the management set-up!

Minor hurlers beat by Antrim this evening, final score Down 2-16 Antrim 2-19. Scoreline flatters the Down team, apparently Antrim were without all the st Mary,s lads!

Very little news about minor footballers at the minute, other than they are training a couple of nights during the week. Heard there is currently a squad of 36 players which will be cut to 30 at some stage in the near future. Anyone know who is impressing at training or at the challenge game against Tyrone last week?

Minor hurlers unlucky against Armagh earlier today, final score Armagh 1-16 Down 3-09. Very close game by all accounts, Couple of late frees by Armagh clinched the victory. Apparently the down bus got lost on the way to the game and throw-in was delayed!
